A Nightmare Vacation** I recently visited Beaches in Negril with my mother and my autistic adult daughter to celebrate my birthday. We arrived around 1:45 pm, having requested an early check-in to accommodate my daughter’s needs. Unfortunately, Melícia at the front desk was disrespectful and dismissive of our situation. My daughter had an absence seizure shortly after, and while the manager, Daniele, was helpful in getting us into a room by 2:45 pm, the problems only began there. The room smelled of mildew, and water was all over the floor from the air conditioner. When we tried to clean it up, the towel turned black, indicating the floor had never been cleaned. After a sarcastic response from Melícia at the front desk, we were eventually moved to another room. The new room seemed better initially, but our troubles continued. Both my daughter and I started noticing bite marks and severe itching at night. My mother then became very ill with severe diarrhea and a headache. Over the next few days, the bites worsened, and my daughter and I were covered in them, while my mother remained sick in bed. I raised the issue with Ms. Gisela, she dismissed the bites as mosquito bites, despite the itching only occurring at night in bed. The nurse mentioned to Gisela of anothe family suspected bed bugs, but no proper investigation was conducted. Despite promises, I have yet to receive any follow-up two weeks later. Emails to corporate have gone unanswered.

WE absolutely enjoyed our stay at Beaches Negril. The variety of food and activities really helped keep our 21 yo, 17 yo, and 9 yo busy. Our massages were enjoyable and the pools, waterslides, lazy river, games, beach, and beach activity rentals were fantastic.

It's overpriced for the quality of liquor and food they provide, along with the pool areas being not well maintained. BTW don't count on the lifeguards, they are too busy socializing to actually see if anyone is drowning.

This property was one of the most disappointing all-inclusive resorts we’ve ever stayed at. The decor is outdated. The property is not clean. We saw several very large roaches. They are understaffed. It does not feel like luxury at all. We will never return or go to another Beaches property.

The staff was not friendly and felt like it was a bother to ask for anything( Especially Lorenzo at the swim up bar by the Mill restaurant). We stayed in room 603 and it was dingy with outdated bed linens, it was obvious that the room needed some updating. My daughter was also bitten by bed bugs. We inspected the bed and found bed bugs droppings! The Concierge and property manager were very helpful and apologetic but we ended up leaving a day early. The spa was another disaster! I was getting mani, pedi and the technician had no soap or water to complete the job and she had to lift the table in order for me to get my feet in the foot soak tub, which seemed odd because I thought this was a first class spa! Very disappointed. Not to mention she wasn’t happy doing my nails because they booked me during her lunch break. Smh!

This is not a 5 Star Hotel

This is a 3 star hotel. It is rated 5 stars because it may be the best Negril has to offer. Anywhere else it's 3 stars. The grounds, beach, landscape, etc are great. However I was extremely disappointed in the accommodations. Old rooms, dinghy sheets, paint peeling under the a/c unit, dirty ceiling fans, etc. I did not feel that it was clean or up to 5 star standard.

Wonderful experience!

I went there for a friend's wedding with my family. My wife, 8 month old son and I had a wonderful experience right from the first time we arrived. We were welcomed in the lobby by Stacy. Who was awesome! All the staff members were welcoming and kind. The kid's camp was very good. A lot of activities...Raymond is a very good activity director. We enjoyed really good food. My favorite was the kimonos restaurant!

It was advertised that they had wi-fi, might as well count on not having wi-fi at all unless you want to pay to receive it! Expensive! The hotel is centered around little kids! Not much entertainment for adults! Some people that work there are very nice and helpful, others can be very rude! Not consistent at all! Daily buffet was not good for breakfast or lunch!, Pizza place was good and the Venetian restaurant was good also. My family got there at 4pm and all pools closed at 6pm every night, very disappointed! Over all it an ok place if you have small children but if you kids are over the age of 5, I would not recommend!

Disappointing for the price

My wife and I stayed at an all-inclusive resort in the past and had a great time. So we expected the same level of quality at Beaches since it was similar price. From the time we got there I had a bad feeling. Took a long time to check in, only one person to show multiple families to their rooms so we had to wait as they walked each group into their room and explained it. Was very hungry and wanted to get some food. Most places were closed at 2pm and the ones that were open were very average food (fried up something frozen). Dinner that night was also bad. Another dinner we made reservations for was cancelled without ever telling us. The people were nice, but it was definitely not worth the price. I would have checked out early if I could have received a refund and gone somewhere else.

Beaches Negril Room Review

I hope this review answers some come questions you may have before booking this room category. Traveled solo to Beaches from 5.30 to 6.4.2015. The shuttle promptly picked guests up within 20 minutes. Our shuttle arrived at about 1300 hours and I waited pretty much until 1500 for my room. I stayed in 826, a third floor "Negril Honeymoon" category, the second cheapest category. This room has a partial ocean view on the south side of the resort near by not next to CSA. The room was very comfortable with a firm bed. It had a nice 42" plasma TV with a good selection of channels. The Xbox, however, had four games and they were unimpressive. The bath and shower were good sized and clean. An IHome clock radio dock would accept a 30 pin device. Use the radio, it has some good music! The air conditioner will go to 70 degrees at its lowest. Combined with a ceiling fan, the room was very cool. Now, in the bathroom, there is a window that cannot be closed. This is to keep the humidity down in the room. At night you can hear frogs, etc. through this window and perhaps some music from The Big Top. Bring some ear plugs if you are sensitive. The room has a nice patio with a table and two chairs. You could, however see your neighbors in the room to the right as well as below on the second floor. It has a great view of the wedding chapel. At night CSA, next door, has shows that play until 2230 hours. They are high volume and I actually liked the free music. WI-FI is spotty.

Excellent beach. Plenty to keep you busy.

Sprawling property with a top notch beach. The beach is easily comparable to Turks & Caicos - spotless clean, soft white sand and calm waters. Kimonos is an excellent Teppenyaki restaurant (as long as you're not vegetarian). The Venetian was ok for italian. The Mill was excellent for breakfast but average for lunch/dinner - so do reserver at the other two. Stewfish has some decent options for dinner, very limited for vegetarians again. Dino's pizzeria is great for lunch every day The waterpark is a couple of adult slides, a lazy river and a kiddies play area. Basic but sufficient. Drinks throughout the resort are plentiful and strong. Finding shaded chairs wasn't a big problem for us most days. Slow, spotty drinks service on the beach. Almost non-existent. The 'beachfront' rooms are marketing ploy. I think most of the rooms have a balcony from where you can see the ocean. Beachfront 'rooms' claim to accommodate 4 people but you really should get a suite. I can't understand how the sofabed in the 'room' can accommodate two. The shuttle service from the airport takes 1.5 - 2 hours. Kayaking, aqua trikes, hobie cats, banana boat rides, Breakfast is plentiful with a made-to-order egg and smoothie section and the full variety. Sesame Street shows most evenings at 7pm. We didn't try the Kids Kamp - weren't comfortable leaving the kid there without us being around - but you could. There a full schedule of activities every day.

Disappointing

Concierge service was disappointing, except for Ricardo and Stephanie (who are excellent at their job), the others are not at all helpful and in the case of one particular one, rather rude. Rooms are small. We paid for a suite. It was not at all a suite by any sane person's standard, however they are classed as "suites" and you pay over the odds for them. There was too much construction during our stay/ The lazy river is small/ The food quality was not very good. Stewfish is the best restaurant/ If you've eaten Japanese in any world city you will find Kimono's to be mediocre. The Venetian is sub-par Italian, the food is just not at all delicious. Maybe if they spent more time sourcing local, fresh, organic produce and cooking from scratch, things could improve on the food front, they seem to depend on processed, bought-in products (except for Stewfish). The burgers were rubbery and cardboardish. They should stop using that rubbery processed cheese and get real cheese (who knows, push the boat out and get organic cheese, it isn't that expensive and tastes a thousand times better. We didn't get the great welcoming feeling they boast about. There were never enough towels at the pool or beach. We will not be back to beaches, not even Turks and Caicos. I don't think the real experience lives even partially up to their marketing hype. They are very good at marketing, but they must ensure the reality lives up to the promises.

What a disappointment!

We arrived on 7/6. I could tell as soon as we drove to the resort we had made a mistake. The grounds are very poorly kept and the entire resort was VERY tired looking. We definitely expected more from a Beaches Resort with the reviews we had read. The room reservation stated Ocean Front room! The ocean would only be visible if we cut down trees to see the ocean! The help was all very nice and our cleaning woman, Olivia, was excellent considering what she had to work with. I don't think the rugs in our room had been shampooed in years! The couch and chair were pretty worn and were probably 10 years old. The food was ok. Not a lot of choices. I was concerned about the cleanliness of the kitchens as some of the area's that were visible to the guests did not appear very clean. We did see a cockroach or two in our paths as well. The beach chairs are old and dirty for the most part and the beach is not cleaned up very well. I am not sure what the policy is for beach towels as we never saw clean ones except the ones given to us on the first day. Where they were supposed to be, they never were! In some of the resort garden areas, there were beer cans and old drink cups. I would not recommend this resort to anyone. Again, the workers there were all extremely nice and did a good job considering what they had to work with. We have been to Iberostar's, Palace Resorts and Grand Bahia Principe Resorts, and they are far superior to the Beaches Negril resort.

Questionable

Expedia - sold us a bag of goods - price does not even come close to the resort. If you have already booked beware - the "double honeymoon suite" is not as good as a comfort inn. Road noise - yes road noise at this resort in the 500 block was awful. Fortunately, the resort changed our room but explained to us - that what we had paid through expedia - was the 2nd to bottem room. 9 levels in total ! It was unbelievable how Expedia says any problems with flights or rooms contact "them" directly. Delta lied to us - just so you know - EVERY SINGLE PERSON NEEDS AN ENTRY FORM INTO JAMIACA - NO MATTER WHAT THE AGE - DELTA LIES AND COST US 1 1/2 in immigration line! I don't believe will post this - disclaimer at bottem "unfortunately, we can't post review that include room rates( not included). Insults or profanity (not used) personal details( not used) website addresses or phone number( not used).

Bad experience. Food was moderate at best. If you want total kid food it would be ok. The hotel is far away from everything in Jamaica ( i.e. Dunns Falls, zip lining, river rafting or kayaking, bobsledding, etc) If you book any excision away (regardless of the company sponsoring the trip) be prepared that they do not talk to the resort and the resorts time schedule and the tour will not be the same. We were on a bus for minimum 4 hours a day and up to 8 - 8 1/2 hours for any tour. Would have booked a more central hotel to any activities.

Well Run Resort

My wife, 9-year old daughter and myself stayed for a week in late July. Overall, the resort was very well run and the workers were extremely friendly and caring. The food was generally good to very good. One exception was the specialty restaurant "Venetian." There is a new Italian chef in charge and hopefully, he can turn it around. The pools & beaches were well-kept and enjoyable. They have a full range of water equipment & instruction. With a little patience at peak times, it was no problem getting use of everything. The resort can be somewhat loud at night with music (even during the day) and it would have been more enjoyable for us with more of the "natural" sounds as a backdrop - others may feel differently. I suggest the 700 buildings if you want a little more quiet. The nightly shows at the Big Top definitely need some work. They aren't the same quality as we've seen at Iberostar resorts. Also the performance space had very echo-ey acoustics and retained a lot of heat, which made it a bit uncomfortable. Sesame Street has a big presence at the resort with shows & character interaction. So if your child likes Elmo & friends, it's a big plus. Bottom line: we had a good time and felt it was very professionally run. You won't have a bad experience unless you have extraordinarily bad luck or are impossible to please. You can book this place with confidence as a family vacation.

My stay at Beaches

Overall the experience was AMAZING. My kids aged 10 and 12 will remember this vacation for years to come and talk about going back next year. The entertainment and friends they made were great. There was always something to keep them busy and outside. My husband and I really enjoyed our time. Very relaxing and great weather. We took in a couple day tours which we enjoyed. My one and only complaint would be the size to the room. For 4 people it was quite tight. I like a little more space. We had a grandluxe beachfront room. As for the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff they were so AWESOME. We got to know each other over our week stay, both my boys and husband were able to call them by their names as they did to us. Absolutely grateful for our family vacation to Negril. Cheers :)

Misleading ad for water park

Overall I enjoyed my stay, however, I was mislead by the ad for Beaches showing the water park. The way the water park was displayed on the internet , it was as if it was a part of the Beaches Resort.. The main reason I chose that particular hotel was for the water park that featured Sesame Street characters. It took me over two weeks to finally decide on Beaches Hotel. When I got there and found out that the water park (Kool Running) was not located on the property of the hotel and you had to pay a separate fee, I was livid! Although the floors were mopped everyday, I think the rugs should be vacuumed or swept as well - no one had a broom or sweeper.

Fantastic family-vacation destination

This resort has been my best vacation experience ever. Every resort or vacation that I have been to in the past do not compare to this one. It is great spot to take kids. One of the great features of this vacation was - YOU DON'T HAVE TO CARRY YOUR WALLET AROUND. This resort is truly ALL-INCLUSIVE. They are not trying to fleece you at every opportunity. The staff were extraordinary. Their service was prompt, and they were always smiling. Take the orientation of the resort as soon as you arrive so that you can plan for, schedule and enjoy all the free water activities offered. Even though they are all free some of these activities require advance booking. (like snorkeling, glass bottom boat trip)

Relaxing, fun enviroment...exactly what we were looking for in a tropical vacation!!

Love the resort, Love the staff! Everyone working there seemed to be happy to be working there and happy to help with anything we needed! It was clean and easy to enjoy all that the resort had to offer! The food wasn't super but it was good! From the moment we arrived until the moment we left we were treated fabulously and can't wait to go back!

wedding destination

Awesome resort!!!!!!!!! My daughter was just married at Beaches Negril. It was truly the most beautiful wedding and the wedding planning staff was excellent. The wedding party consisted of over 40 people there for a week. We enjoyed all the watersports and swim up bars. Children were entertained everyday. What a wonderful place for families.

LOVED it! Won't go to Disney again!

We had an AMAZING vacation!!! We have 3 children- 4, 6, and 9 months. The children LOVED the kids club and WANTED to go to dinner with the kids club the last 2 nights than go to dinner with us. Everyone treated our baby like their own. She was the youngest at the kids club during our stay so she received so much attention. WE LOVED all the Nannys at the kids club. I really can't say enough about how caring they were towards the kids, especially the baby. It was the best of 2 worlds - a wonderful FAMILY vacation but 2 hours a day for just my husband and I, yet they were just steps away from us the whole time! We like that it was small, but not too small, because the kids club, pool, and beach were steps away. There was so much to do for adults and children of ALL ages that we possibly could not do it all. The service at the restaurants was not the best, BUT everything else made up for it. The bugs did seem to bother a few people (including my husband) but the rest of us were fine! We can't wait to go back.. FYI-the waiting room for the bus at the airport is AMAZING!!!!

POORLY MANAGED IN MANY AREAS

We recently stayed for 1 week with 2 small children. The workers at the resort are very friendly and always say hello and make you feel welcome so if there's an area that is really good, that's it. The beach is also terrific and there are plenty of chairs at the beach. The activities and food are another story. We went because of the children's activities but the hours operated weren't given much thought. They post from 10 to 5 for the water park which is the primary fun for the kids. What do you do with kids that get up at 6???? At the very least it could be open at 9 and close at 6, well before it gets dark! To make matters worse, the last day we were there the kids wanted 1 last dip in the "Lazy River". We had to get a shower and dressed at 10:30, so like they always say, No problem. BUT - they did not open until almost 10:30 and the kids were broken hearted. We spoke to 5 different workers from 10 to 10:30 and all they could say was "it's a maintainance problem". Nonsense - they were just late like most of the other activities they schedule. It was not uncommon to have 30 minute or more delays for the start of things. Not only that, there were not enough life jackets for the water park and people were waiting for others to get out of the water to get a life jacket - totally unacceptable. One also gets the feeling of beng sold almost every minute of the day. For an "all inclusive" I found it offensive to have nuts in the room with a sign they were $* They also push pictures and the prices were exhorbitant.
