The view of the lake from the property was superb. Pool was very comfortable and there were easily identified pool towels. We just found it a bit far to walk to restaurants, but room facilities made preparation of a meal easy. There was good communication from the property owners and it was easy to contact them if needed, which it wasn't.

A peaceful stay about 10 minutes walk to town along the beach. Outstanding views of the lake and sunset from our balcony. Nice heated pool too.

Nice location with a view of the lake, 2 min drive to centre of town with lots of dining options.

Great view. Really liked the layout of the apartment, the balcony, and the walk ability to nearby restaurants and the lake. The only downside is there's no elevator so you have to walk up to the second floor with your luggage, but it wasn't really a big deal. Very cute pool but not very large.

Had a lovely stay in Taupo the motel room was perfect and the tub in the garden was extra bonus.

Great to have a private geothermal hot tub at a reasonable price.

Comfy and spacious but a bit dated.

Nice spacious accommodation. Comfortable. A bit dated & the brochure pictures make it look better than we found it. Clive to the lake but had to drive to eateries.

Nice property in good order. We had the family room that worked well. Only slight negative was the pool temp was lower in the morning than in the arvo.

Fantastic 2 night visit

Over the top great! Excellent rooms, very friendly staff. Nice location just away from the downtown crowd. Our room had a beautiful garden with view of the lake. Best of all our very own mineral outdoor spa. We stayed two nights and used the spa constantly. You really need to stay here!

Lake life, great life

We are so happy we choose Baycrest. The room was amazing, very spacious, loved the kitchen(we didn’t make the best use of but next time we will). The highlight is the mineral thermal tub, amazing! Location is great for the lake access and walking distance to the downtown area. Staying at Baycrest is like staying with family. Thank you

Great repeat stay in this motel - 11 years apart. Quiet and comfortable room with spa bath and great view over the bay. About 2 kilometres from the town centre - 35 minute walk along the bay footpath.

We love staying here, Great location, amazing pool and spa. Great friendly service.

Lovely relaxing break

We had a lovely stay in our lodge. It was in a very peaceful location at the end of the lake walkway. The kitchen area was fully stocked with cup glasses pots etc. the room was comfortable with chairs and cushions. The highlight was undoubtedly the spa bath on the patio. It was easy to fill and stayed hot for a long time. The garden area was also beautiful. Although to claim a lake view was optimistic there was a privacy fence in the way.

It was ok. I’ve stayed in much worse and much better. Taupo is gorgeous and I felt it was a decent price for a beautiful place.

Great choice

Probably the best laundry facilities in the whole country! That was welcome and needed at that stage of our trip. Large washers, real dryers, and ample hanging racks. So great! Some internet connection issues, and private pool drained and not useable, but would stay again in a minute.

Lovely little gem with unexpected luxury. In-room spa tub, hot-tub temperature pool, heated towel rack, lovely view. Staff were very friendly and plenty of parking.

We had a beautiful, spacious room with a view of the lake. With a heated outdoor pool, a view, walkable to town, and helpful hosts, this accommodation ticked all the boxes. A special shout-out to the managers and cleaning staff who were kind and considerate. I would definitely recommend.

This was a great property except for the lack of parking. Due to being full we had to park on the street.

Quick Overnight

We only arrived at 7pm and had to leave for the airport at 6:30 am but the place was wonderful. Very spacious. Friendly service. Walking distance to many shops and restaurants. Very convenient. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Exceptional place to stay. Clean facilities. Beautiful private and puplic thermal pools. Great location. Quick and easy check in and check out. Cant recommend more. Me and my partner came for a stay for our anniversary weekend, romantic setting perfect for anyone wanting to share it with their love ones. The pool is amazing and quick and easy check in.

This accommodation is spacious and comfortable. Loved the bed! We were in room 17 and it had a fabulous view of the lake. The heated pool is a bonus but with the cold outside temperatures currently it wasn’t quite hot enough. It sits at 35 but really needs to be up around 38 for it to be a pleasant soak that keeps you warm. The location is a little bit from the town but still quite central. The staff were extremely helpful and pleasant.

Only there one night, but the room was delightful. I'm sure the view would have been great if not for the clouds and rain. Would highly recommend.

We stayed at Baycrest during our first visit to New Zealand in 2007 and it's still a great choice for the Taupo area. Our room was huge with a lovely balcony and views of the lake. It was very clean and the bed was comfortable. There was also AC which was a real plus in 75-80F weather. The property is in good condition and they offer free parking and also have a small pool. We were grateful to have access to laundry ($4NZD for a wash and $4NZD to dry) after hiking the Tongariro Northern Circuit. The managers were so kind and helpful. When we couldn't get an uber or cab, they drove us with all of our bags up to pick up our rental car. The one downside for us is that we didn't have a rental car for most of our days there. There are a few ubers and taxis but not many and town is a 1.5 mi walk (about 30 min). But if you have a car, it won't be a problem. Also, there's a great little coffee truck right by the lake near Baycrest that opens at 7:30am if you don't want to go into town first thing.

Really lovely small inn our room is spacious and has a lovely patio with the lake view. Staff is very friendly and text us directly to us for check in information. Appreciate it.

Location and great hospitality

Warm welcome and good location

An extremely warm welcome from Karen on reception who made us feel at home and gave us information on the local area. The room was big and very clean as was the bathroom. We had a lovely view of the lake from our balcony. It was only just over a mile to walk into the Centre which was an easy walk along side the lake. A really enjoyable stay and would stay again.

Best stop on our trip!

Our stay was very relaxing and rejuvenating. Our lake view room was spacious, clean and always stocked with milk, towels, toiletries. The on premises laundry was extremely helpful as we were traveling for a month from overseas. The hosts were gracious as well as informed. This was the best stop on our journey!

My hubby and I went away for a weekend and we really enjoyed staying here. Very nice people and very friendly. Nice place to relax and enjoy a soak in the hot tub outside our room. We will be back!!

This property is wow nice! Very nice roomy and clean, with a nice geothermal tub in the patio just outside the bedroom.

The suite was well-equipped if you want to prepare simple food, and there was a great private natural thermal, in-ground tub outside our room.

Spacious with a lovely balcony with a view

Really nice stay in family 2 bedroom unit. Great view from deck. Great amenities and easy checkin. The second bedroom didn’t have air conditioning so it got warm with door close. Also, since 2nd floor we needed to carry luggage up stairs. Maybe a problem for some. Overall great stay.

The property is clearly not new but it has been impeccably kept through the years. The room shows barely any age and everything works as it should. Critical appliances such as the television have been updated to wide screen smart options that are par for the course. The room is more spacious than average and the view out the balcony is excellent. Quality bedding is used and precise temperature control via an ac unit provide an excellent night's sleep

We enjoyed the thermal springs heated pool! The unit was large and well furnished. Most rooms have a view of Taupo Lake from the decks off the rooms.

Nice comfortable unit. Good amenities and private thermal pool. Only one small gripe, parking is a bit tight especially if arriving back later after dinner.

Very tidy and clean with excellent extra touches. Only problem was the tiny carparks - when bigger vehicles were in the parks you had to stay in your car as couldn't get out :-) - or park on the verge outside

We had a family suite and it was fantastic, really spacious, two big TV's (happy teenager!) and a lovely big bathroom with a spa bath!

Exceeded expectations

I really enjoyed this place and the atmosphere. The owners were really lovely and the pool is beautiful. It was very comfortable, I adored the view and the balcony and was rapt to have a spa bath! It exceeded my expectations.

The private thermal hot tub was wonderful.

The hosts were amazing, very helpful with tourist information, the thermal spa was great, place very clean and we utilized the onsite laundry. Will hopefully be back someday, highly recommended!
