We really loved the cottage and everything about it, we also liked the owner. However we were concerned we might lose our booking as our ferry was late. We emailed to let them know we would not be there at the nominated time of 7pm. The email was not responded to, maybe in future confirm that the office would still be open to receive us

Lovely private cabin, near to the town. Very clean and comfortable, quiet, safe and beautiful star gazing. We loved the cats too. Made it feel like home.

LOVELY AND RELAXING STAY

Peaceful in South-Bay Kaikoura

Tucked away in South Bay, Kaikoura, the Bay Cottages offered us a relaxing stay. Our cottage was spacious, the kitchen well-equipped, the living area and the bed comfy. Everything was very clean and tidy. Its in a great location to explore the Kaikoura area. Only a short drive away from downtown or a walk over the hill. we enjoyed our stay and can only recommend it.

Hosts were both friendly and helpful and the facility was thoughtfully designed and maintained.. Good spot for a visit to Kiakoura.

All communicationwas friendly and helpful. We were going to be arriving late, so we rang to let them know. We received a cheerful response saying this would be fine. The unit was very clean and warm. It was fully set up with all utensils and appliances. Although it wasn't required it was good to see the unit including the bathroom facilities were accessible to disabled people. If we return to the area we would certainly return here and also recommend Bay Cottages.

Fantastic hosts, extremely clean & well presented. It was nice to be out of the mainstream but close enough if wanted to indulge in retail therapy or dine out.

Great location, cottage was clean and comfortable. The bed was very comfortable! We wish we could have stayed longer.

Cozy sea view cottage

Great location, clean comfortable and well appointed cottage!

Good, quiet back section. Comfortable twin beds. Great heater. The shower spread water widely in the bathroom which wasn't so good.

Spacious, clean room and nice heated blankets for the bed. 4 minute drive to the town center. Gus and Larissa are kind!

Comfortable and quiet

This was a nice hotel with great amenities. Very friendly check in. Private and quiet. The office could be better marked (you have to go behind the house on the street). Property and room was very clean. The beds in the cottage we stayed in were past their best before date and need to be changed out. The on site laundry was awesome and the lady offered a drying rack too. Very sweet.

It was comfortable, clean, quiet, well equipped, the wall heater had to work hard on our first night that was very cold, we enjoyed our stay, would revisit thanks.

Great place to stay. All the comfort you need, including washing machine and Netflix. Well serviced and very clean. Good location - just slightly away from the bustle but a 2 minute drive to centre. Perfect. Good spot. While you can’t see beach from cabins it’s literally down the drive across the road and watch the sunset. Would stay again.

A wonderful quiet, private, friendly place to stay,

A small thing but a decent shower soap needed. Provided was a small brown paper sachet of liquid which immediately disintegrated ! Advise take your own proper soap.

Property was very nice, clean & comfortable!! We had a view of the water which was great.

Location nice, quiet, friendly owner who was helpful. Only note would be that the heating could be improved as current heating setup only just sufficient. Wifi connection seemed patchy at times. Otherwise, all as expected at that price range.

The cottages are on the south side of the peninsula so you need to drive to the restaurants. They are across the road from the beach. The rooms are spacious and nicely furnished (there is a sofa with 2 recliners built-in. The bed was very comfortable but a bit high for short people. The kitchen was adequately equipped. The bathroom was average size. The shower was always got but the water pressure drops as you raise the temperature.

This property is directly across from pebble beach access, close to whale watching terminal and had a beautiful view once out in the street. the cabin was clean and had a good kitchen. Only problem was the fire alarm starting beeping at 3am and continued until we left at 9am. It needed new batteries. I feel this is a maintenance happening that should be regularly checked and not at 3am.

Very comfortable great place

Great place to stay and a good area to explore!!

We liked everything about this property except the funky shower. The location was great, it was spotlessly clean, communication with the property management was easy and the cottage was comfortable. The shower was a bit messy though as it was only separated from the rest of the bathroom by a curtain so when you used it the whole bathroom floor got wet.

Nice cottage in a quiet location

This was a good Cottage with a small view of the ocean. It was easy to find but a little ways to the centre of town. For some reason our shower did not have a threshold on it and it splashed water all over the bathroom floor.

I can't fault this property and exceeded my expectations. They have thought of everything. Modern furnishings, clean, tidy, everything you need. Lovely hosts. Safe and secure and views of the surrounding hills and mountains. Across the road from the beautiful South Bay. Highly recommend.

Clean, spacious and great aspect right on the ocean. Friendly and helpful staff, Could be better signposted at the entrance especially for now arrivals.

The stay here was fine, no complaints.

A place for one to two nights

The location is great. The cottage is not too bad, but not so much privacy as the windows are facing the other cottages. Spacious, internet work fine.

Fabulous Comfortable Cottage.

Booked a king cottage for 4 nights at the end of our trip to South Island. Parking right outside your door. There are 5 adult only detached cottages. We stayed in number 2. Really quiet and peaceful. Lovely view of the mountain and a horse paddock on one side. Walk across the road and you are on the beautiful south bay. The cottage has a very comfortable king size bed, 3 seater couch, tv with Netflix. Well equipped kitchenette. Hairdryer and toiletries supplied. Lovely private patio area with sunchairs to sit outside. The owners don't come into your cottage during your stay but will empty bins, change towels and replenish toiletries and tea/ coffee whenever you ask. You have your own washing machine and clothes horse also. Perfectly situated for walking around the Kaikoura Peninsula. Loved staying here would recommend for anyone who wants to chill and relax.

Great couples retreat

Nice spacious and well appointed accommodation with friendly owners. A bit away from centre of town but that was nice too.

Had Netflix and lazy boy chairs. Good location but construction in front of complex obscured the beach.

We booked this as a last resort as everywhere else was taken. The owner was really rude to us at check in to the point where we nearly didn’t stay. There is building going on on site and so we were woken to hammers etc at 8am. They really should declare this before you book. The rooms are large and the bed was very comfortable but it is a prefab and was dripping with condensation in the morning. The kitchen had an induction hob which was useful but the pans were well used and need replacing. The bay is beautiful and very peaceful. If you can find somewhere else I would but it would do as a last resort.

We really liked being in the South Bay section of Kaikoura, it is very quiet and away from it all.
