This is one of the best hotels we have ever stayed at anywhere in the world. Everything was perfect. It is a beautiful hotel, with outstanding food, drink, and staff. What a joy!

Nice

Expensive and not great

Not even a welcome drink or water when we arrived. Breakfast good service but very boring selection of food. Dry pancakes and croissants from the grocery store?

They always exceed your expectations at the Baur au Lac

Still the greatest hotel in the world.

I am hoarse from bleating about this hotel on every site on which it is mentioned. If you are, by nature, slightly old-fashioned, non-woke and, in my case, arthritic, there is no hotel to compare. I have now stayed here four times and, whilst it may require a small mortgage to afford its luxury, it is worth every soux. Being forgetful, as well as arthritic, I managed to mislay my shaving kit. The BAL had the answer.......a boxed set of soap and a razor with a wooden handle. For God's sake, a wooden handle! That small detail is what sets this Shangri-la apart from all others. I want to stay forever.......because, unless the good Lord decides otherwise, I certainly won't live forever.

This hotel is amazing. We love the bed especially. We had courtyard room. Was very quiet and Very good sleep.

Wonderful elegant hotel with magnificent staff,absolutely amazing restaurants and shopping around! Our stay was fabulous not just because of the splendor of this hotel but because of the professionalism and kindness of the staff! Definitely coming back soon!

5 stars the concierge was incredible the valet butlers also top class Got us in best restaurant same night Friendly clean etc only issue was the pavilion friend and I were both staying in hotel asked for a table they said only bar available 7 tables were empty the entire time we ate the caviar on the bar wasn’t great experience That’s what made hotel great not excellent

Very lovely Swiss hotel near lake. Convenient to the city and its attractions. Staff was amazing. Only drawback was construction nearby.

Beautiful

Hotel was dog friendly, but we were stopped at the entrance to the lobby/bar area. It appeared our doggy was only allowed to be in the room.

The Baur au Lac exemplified luxury and comfort, and I can't wait to return when I'm next in Zurich. I didn't have the opportunity to try their more formal restaurant - Pavillon - but the more casual Baur's was brilliant, with stellar renditions of Swiss and Austro-German classics.

Truly eloquent and luxurious in every way. What’s even more is how wholesome the entire staff was and how “at home” they made me and my family feel. Was grateful and honored to stay at one of the preeminent hotels in the world.

Perfect Stay

Everything about the hotel is perfect, except maybe the oddly designed driveway, resulting in a cramped and inefficient traffic flow. This might be the only flaw in an otherwise wonderful property.

Lives up to Reputation

Classic and classy place to stay. Beautiful decor, flowers in hotel amazing. Be sure to walk around the gardens if you are there. In house restaurant The Baur is the more informal place to eat . Atmosphere friendly and the service was great.

Simply the best hotel ever..

Once again, amazing. This was not our first stay and it will not be the last. If it’s old world service and elegance, you need look n further. Can’t wait to return.

Great hotel

Short of 5 stars

Hotel has great location but is under construction and you cannot access the gardens and terrace which is the best part of the hotel! It should say that in red before you book here. The room has no neospresso coffee maker which is crazy for a five star hotel. No coffee or tea maker and it makes it inconvenient. I dont want to have to wake up and deal with people or room service. The mattresses are also stiff (feels old!) but the room is clean and large. The staff is amazing!!!!

because of the construction going on , hotel was not at its best shape however , friendliness , upscale service culture and super good restaurant have easily been able to compensate that

too much construction and difficult to figure out how to even enter the property.

this is a classic property. The service and the rooms are impeccable.

The room had no coffee or tea facilities and the hotel didn’t recognise our membership with the leading hotel group. Overall they made it a disappointing experience.

Unable to get me a car to the airport in time. Almost missed the flight. Huge stress and risk and I had to solve it myself through uber.

Property is beautiful I’m sure, however the day/night that we spent here was clouded by the loud roudy techno festival happing right outside the hotel. This meant we could not drive our car to the hotel parking as the streets were closed around the hotel and the thumping music lasted until 12am. We also could not use the outside hotel areas as it was filled with drunk festival goers. The hotel failed to tell us this would be taking place when booking and did not give us the option to stay somewhere else instead. This was our only experience of the hotel as we had to leave early the next day. I’m sure it’s lovely when there is no tech fest happening.

Good to experience once but not extraordinary

It was really a nice stay but for me not worth the money we spent: at this category i eould expect a swimming pool, a sauna and a much bigger choice at breakfast. Also was the room not fully clean (carpet and seat protection in bathroom). Also the service at breakfast could have been more attentive.

lovely place but our room was kind of small compared to the same price level hotels and zurich. And the garden area is only pretty in the summer or spring. Our room was very close to the elevator. And we could here elevator moving in the room...and we had very bad window views just facing white walls and some construction sites. overall the hotel was clean and historic. Breakfast is simple but has basics eggs, fruits, juice, salmon/salami, bread. staff service was great.

Incredible hotel!

We absolutely loved our stay at the Baur Au Lac! The staff were extremely attentive and helpful, the room incredibly spacious, and the location perfect (easy to get to everything by foot). Having a fully stocked mini bar (replenished each day) at no additional cost was a great touch. The stay is worth the splurge!

5 Stars is not enough. The Baur au Lac is not only in the best location for seeing Zurich and the Old Town it is perfectly located for both the bussiness and leisure travel. The staff are courteous and eager to fulfill every request. Being quite the picky californian I ordered quite a complicated room service order, all dressing on the side, omit this ingredient, add more of that one basically stand on your head on a plate and make it extra hot. Aware of the pitfalls I would have been pleased if the order were 80% correct. To my surprise it was exactly 100% correct and served by the nicest East Indian waiter! The hotel is quite lovely but not too grand as that is so boring. And the reason I might have a drink at the other Grand Dame of Zurich but never stay there again. Baur au Lac is impeccably did I emphasize impeccably refurbished and ready for action! The decoration is in the style of art nouveau and deco but not in an overly imposing way. It still feels contemporary and comfortable and welcoming.

This is a beautiful 5 star luxury hotel with a rich history. I heard about it so I decided to stay for 5 nights during my short vacation to Zurich. I have to say I enjoyed every minute of it. The hotel is located in the trendy and commercial center of Zurich with a walking distance to major tourist sites (train station, opera house, national museum, all highend stores etc). Except for its great customer services and very friendly staffs, I especially like its restaurants. Terrasse is a garden cafe that absolutely looks enchanting. I loved it so much that I had a few meals there just to sit inside and enjoy the view. The Pavillon is a Michelin star restaurant and gorgeously decorated. I had a nine course tasting menu dinner. The food was amazing. I also got a chance for an afternoon tea in Le Hall at lobby. It requires a special 48 hour reservation since it doesn't offer afternoon tea in summer season. Its exterior is lavish and elegant. Everything in this hotel was perfect for me. I will definitely check in again in my next trip to Zurich.

We liked everything about the hotel, & we were given a wonderful suite

Very nice, but expensive for what you get

Terrific service in a nice old hotel. My issue with the place is that it is a lot of money for a retrofit space. The bathroom is large, but poorly laid out with several functional challenges. You have to awkwardly climb into a tub in order to take a shower and water gets everywhere. That is a good example of what I mean by retrofit. In a top dollar place it is annoying.

Best hotel in Zurich?

Admittedly I have only stayed here but it has a fantastic location by the lake, is perfection inside and out, has extremely friendly and efficient staff and an interesting variety of eateries and bars. 5* for sure.

Elegant hotel

Beautiful hotel set in its own park grounds next to the lake. Staff are friendly and rooms are comfortable and beautiful. Perfect location too. You get what you pay for and you definitely don’t mind spending a bit more for this hotel as you might think it’s expensive but it becomes value for money once you have experienced a stay.
