Great Location, Super staff and very welcoming and knowledgeable
Amazing
Amazing stay as always
Have wanted to stay in this hotel for some time after being a fan of Dennis Severs House museum (next door) and this hotel did not disappoint. The staff were lovely and kindly accommodated an early check in after an overnight flight from Canada. The room was perfect for a solo traveller -- comfortable, quiet, mini bar, warm and beautifully decorated. It feels a bit like stepping back in time but with all the modern comforts of home. The location is fantastic especially if you like historical architecture and exploring Spitalfields Market, Brick Lane, and Liverpool St. Highly recommend!
Lovely hotel, definitely on a par with its two sister hotels.
A beautiful boutique property in a fabulous location. From the moment we entered the property, the staff were attentive, friendly and keen to assist. The rooms were comfortable and spotlessly clean. One night was certainly not enough time here!
Authentic old time features. Pillows too soft. Great place to stay.
Terrific staff, great showers and bed. Just a really classy place to stay.
Perfect stay
First class from check in to check out. Friendly service, immaculate room and surroundings. You absolutely get what you pay for and expect for the price. Wouldn't hesitate to book again.
Beautiful place in a quiet street in a busy area. Staff so helpful and obliging. Clean relaxed and friendly. Can't say anything bad about the place or people. Hope to go back
Charming, old world feeling. Very helpful front desk staff. Quiet , except for the garden seating area.
A hidden gem for someone like me who likes small, quiet and understated luxury.
Wonderful
Really beautiful hotel, room, and wonderful staff who couldn't do enough. We stayed as a family with a 4 year old and found the location perfect, especially with the market a few steps away. We will definitely be back, and can highly recommend!
Wonderful
The welcome we received on arrival and throughout our stay from the reception team was outstanding, they couldn’t have done more for us. The Hotel is very tastefully designed, full of character and history. The rooms don’t have numbers but names of people that lived in the area, I loved reading about them. Our room was spacious, comfortable and clean, the bed was so sumptuous you just wanted to dive on it. The location was fabulous, lots to do and see within walking distance, we also found it very easy to access public transport for getting around London. We would definitely return.
What a fantastic hotel with lovely friendly, professional, helpful staff. Best hotel I've ever stayed at. This really set the tone for a great evening away for me and my wife. I'd absolutely love to stay here again
Amazing boutique hotel
Wonderful small boutique hotel with great service
A lovely unique hotel in the heart of London. Our room was great and the staff could not have been more helpful. Will be back.
The hotel is very different from most hotels in London. it is like staying in history. The rooms are unique but still very cosy. Our room had the deepest bath I have ever used in my life. The staff are very friendly and helpful. This was our second stay and we have previously stayed in one of its sister hotels. We will definitely use again.
Serendipity
This hotel was a wonderful find with so much character and charm. We arrived very late due to an issue with another booking and the front of house staff could not have been more welcoming & helpful. The room was beautifully decorated & well appointed all had names & not a number and the history of the given name explained in the hotel handbook. The bed was extremely comfortable, well stocked mini bar and if you required anything we only had to ask and within minutes there was a knock at the door. There where three private lounges one with an honesty bar to retreat to. There is no restaurant but Spitalfields market is 100 yards away so spoilt for choice. The building dates back to 1700 and the ambience of the hotel captures that feeling with wonderful art works, books etc but with modern touches like heated panel on framed bathroom mirror so it was mist free. I read only one, 1 star review but the gentleman that wrote it also had 438 other 1 star reviews under his belt so he was either the unluckiest person on the planet or a serial complainer. This has now become my go to London hotel ( there are two others by the owners of similar ilk) to stay at when visiting. This hotel offers the grandeur of some of the more famous landmark hotels but at vey affordable rates. I would like to keep this place as my little secret but that would be unfair on others.
A very unique ambiance. A very quiet refuge in the middle of a noisy city.
Perfect weekend
Beautiful hotel, feels like you are stepping back in time but with all modern necessities. Great location and lovely staff. We got a double upgrade as my sister was also staying and they kept us on the same floor.
Love everything about this most adorable, warm, comfortable, friendly hotel!
The property is.beautifully decorated and very quirky but mostly in a positive way. We had a spacious room with a separate sitting area that was just wonderful. And we enjoyed the coffee each morning delivered to our room. The Liverpool station is very close with connections to every part of the city and the hotel is right next to Spitafields with many shops and restaurants. What we did not like was the darkness of the room, the very strange and uncomfortable toilet, and the faucets which were separate too that it was hard to get water that wasnt either too hot or too cold. The service staff was excellent and very responsive and the people at the front desk were very nice but not as knowledgeable about the area as we expected.
Loved it! Very magical
Below average- especially for the price!
On arrival hotel looked great. However, once you start to use the facilities it quickly goes down hill. The shower was terrible (couldn’t adjust the temperature) and the shower head was leaking out the top which meant the ceiling was being sprayed and the floor covered with water. The rooms are well appointed but noisy, you can hear everything that goes on in the hallways and vice versa. Overall wouldn’t stay here again.
The staff at Batty Langley's are utterly fantastic; they are knowledgeable, helpful, and extremely considerate, and if I could give them 6 stars, I would. I enjoyed my stay immensely. The property is charming and a very easy walk to the Liverpool Street Station, which is the most convenient location I've stayed in yet (and this was my 11th visit to London). If circumstances allow, I hope to stay there again.
Home away from home. Incredibly cozy hotel with multiple shared lounges. Located in a great area with great access to bars, restaurants, and things to do (and surprisingly quiet). Bonus points for comfortable bed with soft sheets and firm-enough mattress.
Recommend
Wonderful service and accommodation just like you see advertised. Loved the location, easy to access public or Uber type services. Recommend.
Beautiful Georgian townhouse hotel
An oasis of cosiness and calm. Warm, welcoming and helpful staff. No dining room, but breakfast served to your room or in one of the hotel’s charming ground floor spaces - the tapestry room, sitting room or library. Complimentary tea and delicious home-made cake available each afternoon and a very well stocked honesty bar. A perfect place to stay while visiting London for a long weekend - located close to all the Spitalfields market, Brick Lane, Shoreditch areas have to offer, some excellent restaurants (Sohaila, Nest, Delamina East) and so much great history on your doorstep. Nearby Liverpool St a good transport hub for travelling to other parts of Town. We were so glad we found this place - we’ll certainly be back.
The staff was curious and very helpful. Such a unique and charming experience!
Quiet, but convenient neighborhood
Our 1 week stay at Batty Langley was excellent. The staff was very friendly and professional. They don't have a restaurant or in house breakfast, but will deliver breakfast to you if ordered the night before. (We chose to go explore & have breakfast locally. Often we chose hotels with modern decor, but decided to try a hotel with more of an old, European feel. It is smartly decorated with a mix of antiques and modern amenities. We would highly recommend it.
This place had great decor and service and gave us a historical view into London life with a modern touch. I loved the beautiful sitting rooms on the main level, filled with an awesome selection of old, interesting books, the gorgeous hotel room and breakfast each morning that included the best tea arrangement. Being immersed in this decor was dreamy and I will be thinking about it for years to come.
This is the (Georgian) Life!
The hotel, one of three in the group, is just by Spitalfields Market and is a beautiful Georgian building next door to the very interesting Dennis Sever's House. The rooms all have old oak furniture and public rooms have working fire places. There is room service but any meals are taken in your room. The staff are charming and especially at Christmas, it looks like something from a fairy tale. If I have a small gripe it's that the hotel was much too hot - the weather was unseasonably warm, but even with the heating off in my room, I needed the window open. Also - I think all hotels should provide free drinking water in the rooms, rather than have to pay for the bottled stuff. But, I have stayed here before and I will certainly stay here again. That goes for Hazlitt's and The Rookery (the others in the group, too).
Always an amazing stay
Another wonderful 2 night stay in Batty Langleys - it never disappoints. From the very friendly and helpful staff, to the beautifully decorated, comfortable rooms, with great designed bathrooms, the homely lounge areas and well stocked honesty bar, the delicious breakfast offerings to the fabulous location with Brick Lane, Shoreditch and Spitalfields on the door step. It’s a real home from home experience. I almost don’t want to tell anyone how lovely this place is and keep it our secret.
Amazing decor and the service and staff were top notch. Very helpful and nice. I felt extremely welcomed.
Great location, hotel full of character. Friendly, professional and accomodating staff. Will stay there again when in London.
This property was fantastic. The Spitalfields/Shoreditch area was interested but definitely you had to be careful where you walked in the dark. We never felt unsafe however, we just needed caution. Loved to staff and atmosphere in Batty Langley. The breakfasts and beverages available were excellent.
This hotel is not in a touristy area but I chose it for it's charm, which did not disappoint. It is close to the tube and several good restaurants. Lovely boutique hotel!
The staff is amazing, the room was amazingly historic, and the morning breakfast, especially the coffee, was wonderfully fresh and hot!
Literally amazing.
I booked this as part of a last minute business trip, and it was lovely - the room was beautiful, very clean, the bed was deep and soft, and you could have kept a whale in the bath. Best cup of tea ever, in the morning. It would have been even better if there had been a grab rail by the bath and it would have been nice to get catch-up tv. Only downside, and this is very picky, is that I found one of the portraits in the bedroom was a bit creepy! Would definitely book again.
The character and sense of history at Batty Langley’s was mixed with a perfect British subtle sense of humor. Everything was elegant but fun.
Reception staff need training
The whole stay was fantastic and completely faultless - up until the point we went back to the hotel to collect our luggage. I was sitting in reception waiting for my partner and overhead one of the receptionists reprimanding an junior member of staff behind the reception desk. This is 1) completely unprofessional to do this in a public area and 2) as someone who has worked in hospitality, the manner in which it was done was rude and demeaning to the junior member of staff. Not a good impression to leave the hotel with
Our room was quiet. It is in a bustling area. I prefer a hotel in a residential neighborhood. I like to look out my window at a garden or courtyard. The hotel is dark and we looked out to office buildings and an alley. It is very quirky and the people are spectacular.
Fantastic place to stay , was even upgraded for our 15th wedding anniversary! Great stuff and the breakfast topped it up , just incredible!! Will return ! Many thanks to all stuff there , excellent job 😊😍
Great hotel. Well designed and a world away from the outside. Cosy and comfortable. Will stay again!
An enriching experience
Beautiful hotel. We were shown around the hotel by the charming staff at the point of check in. The lounges were all stunning, with an amazing to detail and comfort. The honesty bars were a special touch and a unique experience in leisure. The room itself was charming and full of detail. The highlight was the sumptuous bathroom. So relaxing. Considering it was so close to Liverpool Street station, it was so peaceful. I never expected to go and feel so destressed. Perfect for a day on my feet in London. A minor quibble was having to leave the windows open, as the aircon was limited, but honestly small fry compared to the overall ambience and sheer vintage class. Opulent would be an understatement.
Wonderful stay at Batty Langley's
We loved our stay at Batty Langley's. The front desk service was impeccable in meeting our needs, including checking in a bit early, and printing of documents needed for various tours. Rooms were cleaned and fresh towels provided daily. The lounge areas at the hotel with the wood furnishings and elegant decor were comfortable and inviting. The front desk is staffed 24/7 to handle any questions. We loved that the rooms all had names, not numbers, and you turned in your room key (an actual key, not a card to be swiped at the door) at the front desk when leaving on an activity. Also, the location is great - about a 5-minute walk to the Liverpool underground station with access to various lines. A taxi from Heathrow cost 127 Pounds ($172) - taking the Elizabeth line would have saved time and well over $100. Spitalfields Market is just around the corner with a great variety of ethnic food choices and the hotel is right next door to the Dennis Severs house - a tour there is an up close theatrical performance which we were glad that we attended. Finally, the rooms were quiet and well appointed with an air conditioning system that kept us comfortable at all times. I highly recommend Batty Langley's over a run-of-the-mill hotel room.
We liked the old age of the building and the period furnishings. Bed was very comfortable, very helpful staff.
Completely charmed by Batty Langley’s and the cozy boutique ambience they’ve created. Had the Stilwell room which was beyond delightful. Despite active construction going on across the street the room was really quiet, with thick brick walls and double-paned windows (they don’t make ‘em like they used to). The history of the hotel is woven into its presentation and part of the charm. The staff was lovely and very accommodating. Enjoyed Shoreditch and all of its walkable dining options, particularly Dishoom and St. John Bread & Wine. Easy transport from Liverpool St tube, just down the street. Loved it!
Great location and beautiful rooms
Amazing hotel, beautiful room with very helpful staff. Minibar well stocked. Close to transit. Quite expensive but you definitely get what you pay for.
The two trust-bars were extremely welcoming and the open air atrium was very peaceful. Everything is walkable, safe, and convenient. The staff was particularly helpful and courteous. Our only challenge was that the room and bathroom are small and there are very few places to place things.
Batty's is absolutely charming. Like taking a trip back in time with old fashioned great customer service, where the guest interest is utmost in their mind. When I say I didn't leave my hotel room for my entire stay - I literally mean it. Batty's is THAT good.
This was my first time in London. First half of my trip I stayed in a familiar chain. Then I thought I’d try something different for very English experience, and I am so very glad Batty Langley’s came up in my search (and within my price range). I’ve already forgotten the first hotel. Batty Langley’s is handsome, beautiful, romantic, comfortable and really SPECIAL. Yes, it’s close to transport, shopping, the Old Spitalfield Market, convenient to everything, friendly and helpful staff… and it is very much unlike a lot of other hotels where the pictures in the listing look totally different. The only reason I may not stay here again is because I’m curious about their other hotels.
Fantastic property. Old world charm with modern luxury. Very close to several pubs and food options that are open a bit later than the rest of london. Located close to the Liverpool tube station makes it easy to get to several attractions. Room service options are limited but plenty of food within 10 minute walk.
Great staff, great room, great bacon sandwiches
Quirky, quaint hotel with excellent service. Walkable to many sights and dining options. A real treat for me and my daughters. We enjoyed the parlors and books galore!
Fantastic stay at Batty’s this week. The staff are wonderful, with that perfect balance of friendliness and respect. We chilled in the library and used the honesty bar. A memorable stay, which won’t be our last.
Batty Langley's is a superb hotel on the edge of London's East End on a brick-paved street near the bustling Spitalfields Market. The staff is exemplary - polite, discrete, friendly. We were treated with respect and kindness and every action by the staff made us feel welcome and pampered. The hotel is beautiful, taking the guest back to a time of classic design and quality of workmanship. If you want an old London experience with attentiveness to every detail of your stay, book at Batty Langley's.
i don't think i can say enough about how special this place is. it is unique, incredibly comfortable and clean, charming, and a true respite from a busy london trip! the service is absolutely impeccable- the people who work at batty langley's truly care about your stay and experience. every nook and cranny of the property is perfectly appointed, welcoming and detailed. it would be a difficult choice between returning here or trying a sister property on our next london trip.
Don’t expect a lay in
Nice hotel and great staff . Alas my room was in the middle of a building site next door and they started around 730 each morning. Don’t expect a lay in .
What a treat! Amazing staff and service!
Lots of extra touches that made it a delightful stay, and the staff was amazing. Everything was perfect!
A gem in the middle of London very welcoming staff.
Loved the hotel. Very charming and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Will stay there the next time I travel to London
Unique place with history, great staff, and accessibility to the tube. Great area for markets, food, pubs, and a walk to landmarks without being too close.
Repeat stay
Stayed here before, lovely hotel, friendly staff and would come again.
Beautiful but a little hot for me.
Beautiful hotel but far too hot in the bedroom. Opening the windows did not cool the room much as the curtains are terrifically heavy. The aircon didn’t help much either. This problem was coupled with the fact that the duvet was of a very heavy tog and therefore having a comfortable night’s sleep was just not possible for me. I am sure that some will like it that way, but for me I tossed and turned all night. Lovely staff, beautiful hotel but will probably wait for winter to arrive before going back.
Service was really good. One item air conditioning didn’t work, opened windows.
They have really gone the extra mile in restoring this property. Down to the faucets, it was cozy and inviting.
Perfect historic gem!
Room service was great, the hotel was extremely clean. Staff were really helpful with anything we wanted. The look of the hotel was amazing.
This place is absolutely perfect. Loved evey inche of it. Beautiful in every way. And the staff were all so nice & helpful. Especially James! Thank you all for eveything and I'd loved to come back. The surrounding area was also great. Everything you need is a few minutes walk away. So so so much to do. Stayed a week and that still wasn't enough time. I was very sad to leave.
The staff was so accomidating and nice. The property is beautiful and classic. Will come again! Thank you
Our stay at Batty Langley's was amazing. Our room was so quiet, they layout was perfect and comfortable. The hotel also has a library, concierge area and one other room for gathering with family or just relaxing by the fireplace. It is close to Spitalfield Market for some great eats and unique shopping. But the best thing about staying at Batty Langley's is the staff, they are the perfect amount of attentive, friendly and just plain lovely! Can't wait to have a return visit!
Cosy
Super cosy bed! Lovely service. Currently building works near by so don’t expect a lie in!
Brilliant experience
The hotel was amazing, the staff were extremely attentive and friendly, and me and my partner had a lovely stay.
All the reviews you have read about this place are true! We had a wonderful 4 night stay at Batty Langley’s in October. This is a wonderful and unique hotel in the centre of London, very convenient for Liverpool Station and easily accessible for local transport. Batty Langley’s is not at all like a conventional hotel but is a unique ‘Georgian Guesthouse’. It does not have the facilities of slightly larger hotels (restaurant, bar, gym) but these are not important and Batty Langley’s more than makes up for it in charm. There is a lovely snug (with an honesty bar) where we had coffee and a drink after a busy day in London. Our room was small but very comfortable and was tastefully decorated with authentic antiques. The only downside was that there was no table in our room, so we did not order breakfast as we did not want to eat on our bed. Having said that there are so many cafes nearby that this wasn’t a problem. When we arrived, we did not have coffee facilities in our room but once we asked, we were offered a daily tray of freshly ground coffee and fresh milk each day. The staff were simply wonderful; discreet, calm and always attentive. There was building works right outside our bedroom which woke us up each morning but it’s to be expected in the middle of London and it got us out of bed! We will definitely return and recommend to friends. Just wish we had found this little gem before now!
Love this place
This hotel is quirky and amazing. But the staff make it extra special ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ As always.
Weekend break
Wonderful break in a charming boutique style hotel, very attentive staff and made the whole experience very unique
Batty Langleys
Hotel was amazing. Lots of areas to chill out. We had Batty Langleys room with Terrace which was lovely. Roll top bath and shower. Shower did take a while ro get heat right but that was the knlh small fault i could find. Staff were so friendly and would do anything to help. Perfect for Spitafields and other local markets.
Lovely Hotel - Super Quirky
This is such a lovely hotel, it is extremely clean and the service is fantastic! The terrace in the Batty Langley room is lovely and the honesty bar is a great touch! This really is a hidden gem and I would revisit countless times over! Thank you
Supreme comfort in the heart of trendy London
This was my second stay at the hotel. It is a Georgian oasis in the heart of Spitalfields and brilliantly located for all of London. The service is superb. You are made to feel very special and the comfort and quality of the bedrooms and shared spaces is luxuriant.
The best
Wonderful!! Some of the best hotel staff I've ever come across, so friendly and accommodating. The hotel itself is beautiful. The feeling of a country house hotel with so much London variety within walking distance. Loved it and plan to visit again, and to try the other hotels in the group. Thank you!
Excellent all round experience
Always love staying at Batty Langley’s. So quiet and atmospheric. Lovely rooms and service, too
A gem of a hotel
What a little gem of a hotel. After travelling on the hottest day of the year we finally found the hotel, only a few minutes away from Liverpool tube station. We were welcomed by the fabulous staff into the air conditioned hotel and were delighted with our first impressions. We arrived early and that was not a problem at all for the staff, our room was ready and we were made very welcome. We were given a small tour of the hotel before being shown to our room and offered a complimentary tea tray. I had booked a surprise trip for my husband as an anniversary surprise and not knowing London at all, I kept coming back to Betty Langley's due to it's tasteful and somewhat quirky interior. We were not at all disappointed. The room was tastefully and beautifully decorated in keeping with the era it was built. The air conditioning was most welcome and I loved the scented smell that occasionally wafted into the room. The bathroom was a delight and I loved the Ren products we had to use for our stay. The bed was super comfortable and despite the hustle and bustle of outside, the room was quiet and we both slept well. It was also spotlessly clean and cleaned during our short stay. The hotel location was in a beautiful cobbled street with old fashioned gas lamps, and we had everything we needed within a few minutes walk including the fab Spitalfield market with it's great street food! The staff were fabulous and we would not hesitate to come back here.
Very good in every respect
A hidden gem
My favourite hotel in all of London !
The hotel is truly gorgeous. It is quiet and cosy and peaceful with big open fireplaces dotted around the ground floor and charming libraries and an “honesty bar” where you can look out onto a little courtyard. The bed was very comfortable but the pillows could be a little firmer or maybe offer more of them - but that’s just a matter of personal taste.
Superb hotel great location
Great hotel with friendly welcoming staff
A magical gem that you wouldn’t believe in the heart of the city.
This is our second stay at Batty Langley’s and I hope it won’t be our last. It’s a lovely hotel and the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful
Top Hotel Experience of my Life
One of the best hotel experiences I've had. The hotel is beautiful and cozy. The honesty bar is an awesome feature. Nothing better than fixing yourself a nice cocktail and retreating to your room to take a luxurious bath in a freestanding tub. The technical features in our room blew me away. The TV - elegantly hidden behind a mirror - had AirPlay functionality so we could beam our favorite TV shows to the screen, and even play music throughout the room. (There's a speaker you can turn on in the bathroom that plays what's on the TV.) This was awesome during out bath. The area - Shoreditch - is absolutely incredible. Cannot wait to return to the area.
Wonderful
Atmosphere was old world charm. Lovely small rooms and antique decor. Rooms are definitely NOT modern including bathrooms. Front door always locked so you have to rind the bell to get in every time. Location is far away from all the "sights".
Excellent hotel Very well localized Will come back again next time
Fabulous
From the moment I got there nothing was too much trouble - class and elegance as were the staff.
Fabulous hotel - full of character
The location, property and reception was perfect except for the following points: The shower extractor could not be isolated and droned one all night. The TV had to be auto tuned in the bedroom as the screen wasn’t working upon arrival. There was no light in the ensuite bathroom and you had to step up in the dark to use the toilet which is a trip hazard. It would
Fantastic hotel!
All of the staff were beyond friendly, helpful and made us feel so welcome. It feels more like staying in someone's home rather than a hotel. Wonderful stay and will be back soon for sure.

Amazing Georgian style hotel.
An amazing hotel with easy access to Liverpool Street station. Only a few stops away from Oxford Circus and other major attractions. Literally next door to Denis Severs' house which is a must see attraction. Please note though that you have to request a "tea tray" for your room.
