Excellent hotel away from the city and for a getaway
Excellent place to stay with kids great breakfast
We went here for a few days to play golf. The course was fantastic and the hotel was just as we expected. Would go back!
The property is very pleasant and very clean and tidy. The Golf course is in a shockingly bad state and one member of staff was rude to one of my guests. I have not heard back from my written complaint I wrote at the desk
Overcharged hotel
A hotel like this should have free parking, etc least when they charge you more than €400 for a night stay. Also as a guest you should have free access to the spa area
Not near any other restaurants
Barcello Montecastillo Golf
I have stayed in quite a few Hotels of the Barcelo group, especially the Royal Hideaway in Sancti Petri. This hotel is nice, clean and comfortable, however it lags in certain aspects in comparison to the Royal Hideaway which is also a five star hotel of the Barcelo group.. This is not a criticism of the hotel, since Covid I am sure has had a massive impact on hotels in general and their client basis and staff.
Although we are not golfers we enjoyed our stay in this hotel extremley. The gardens and pools are lovely and staff very attentive and friendly. We could not book the spa as it was fully booked but spa looked amazing too.
Fantastic hotel and superb staff
We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The grounds and views were breathtaking, the facilities great and most importantly, the staff was superb. We have children with food allergies and had left their medication behind by accident and the staff went to great lengths to ensure their safety, we shall be forever grateful for their care. Needless to stay, we will be back!
Not a five star hotel
Have used covid as an excuse to charge more wherever possible (e g. Removing tea/coffee in room and mini bar, charging to have things bought to room) while ignoring it where it would cost them more (still providing breakfast and dinner as a buffet with no extra precautions, so guests sharing utensils and food sitting out for hours). Also extra hidden charges for indoor pool (€15 per person) and pool towels.
Couples get away
Friendly staff, room clean and comfortable. Dinner was good breakfast was excellent. Friendly and courteous staff. Very pleasant experience
Great location.
Great location only problem was the noise from the elevator and other rooms.
The property is not a 5 star hotel, very disappointing. We found a cockroach in our suit, the A/C wasn't working, the staff though were helpful, they changed us to another suit, however that doesn't change the fact that the hotel is old and in need of a refurbishment.
Nothing. Course was in awful condition and we didn’t get told that’d be the case
This was an immaculate property with terrific facilities. The only thing I had issues with was a large group of British men who were staying at the property. There were families around and they were very loud, swearing and consuming copious amounts of alcohol without any warning from staff to temper their language or drinking. When we objected to their behaviour and asked them to stop swearing they failed to do so.
Staff are excellent, couldn't be more friendly or helpful. Our room had a great view of the course and surrounding area, was well fitted and maintained. Food was excellent with very prompt service
Lovely hotel although bathroom was a bit tired. Great staff throughout the day - helpful and friendly
Beautiful setting lovely efficient staff - bathroom hygiene pool and room was not what we expected despite requesting very well in advance for a room with a good view and a proper bathroom.
Clean, large hotel, but in middle of nowhere
It was a nice, spacious hotel but basically in the middle of nowhere not really close to any cute towns
Nice clean hotel with large rooms. Breakfast is very good and the staff are very friendly. I will strongly recommend.
Nice hotel, great bar and breakfast buffet, helpful staff.
Awesome hotel for pets.
Beautiful hotel, right on the golf course with exceptionally friendly pet features. They provide dog beds, little doggy snacks, water bowls etc.... superb service. Buffet breakfast was 2nd to none, absolutely awesome. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Lovely place, nice staff, goof food. But the room was hot. The AC
Good in the restaurant was amazing. Great views and wonderful facilities.
Great hotel
Fine hotel with lovely adjoining golf course. Staff well trained and friendly. While mainly domestic guests, staff made extra effort with a non-Spanish speaker
Pleasant stay at a nice resort
We stayed in a 2 bedroom 2 bath villa and found it to be a very pleasant experience overall. The drive up to the place was a little off putting as it appears that the resort is partially finished and a large part of it looks like an abandoned project or ghost village. The clubhouse was well done. We had the dinner and breakfast buffets and found there to be a great selection of good food at both. The beds were comfortable and the suite had plenty of space. The suite could use a little maintenance but it was a good value overall.
Lovely hotel
Hotel was very clean staff are very friendly and food was great
Trip to Jerez racing circuit.
Perfect location for a trip to Jerez racing circuit (no, I'm not a golfer!). Circuit was within walking distance and hotel was lovely. Nice pool area and good service and food. Friendly and helpful staff and free parking. Would definitely go back.
Quality hotel but information could be better.
The food was really excellent. Champagne for breakfast and made to order Omelettes. Freshly cooked meat and fish available each night. The comprehensive buffet spread was always fresh. The hotel itself was beautiful and very clean. The golf course looked beautiful although we did not play. We were in a "villa". It was actually one of about a dozen "villas", six first floor and six ground floor in a single building but it was quite nice and had a large balcony. There was a lack of information about the hotel. No information pack in the villa. Just a small info cards about the phone and TV and large glossy magazines about the hotel chain and expensive watches. We were told when we arrived that there were two restaurants. But whenever we walked past the Castle restaurant seemed closed. It may be only open on Friday and Saturday nights. We were on half board for the week. Eating at the Castle was extra and the food was too good in the main restaurant to justify going the on the one night we could have done. We would have done if there was a special event such as Flamenco dancing. We asked for a sun shade on our balcony twice but never got an answer. There is a small water park but is was closed all the time we were there "for sterilisation".
Golf Hotel
Golf Hotel, so quite a way from other facilities, very peaceful, food more 4 star than 5, there was a bar attendent in Ricardos the 8th and the 9th in the evening called Antonio, he was very rude and arrogant. The other members of stall were really lovely and very helpful. the staff on reception were very friendly and helpful. We were told in the bar, by Antonio, that All Inclusive people had to serve theirselves, as if they were second class Citizens. We loved Jerez when we came a while ago so wanted to see it again, you would need a car if you didn't want to stay around the Hotel.
Es muy perfecto
My stay here was based around the moto gp and WOW, this hotel is fabulous! Can't fault it in any way, the only possible downside is It's about 20€ taxi from Jerez but it's so good at hotel not a real problem!
Perfect for working at Jerez race track
Working at Jerez race track so this is the perfect choice being only a couple of minutes drive away. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful and the facilities are good. One let down is it is opposite a derelict building.
Weekend Break
A family weekend break looking for relaxation in quiet surroundings. This was achieved. Restaurant served good variety of food especially in the evenings.
Great golf course on site
Really enjoyed our three days - lovely hotel - would definetly return, rooms were of a high standard and all staff very attentive.
Excellent golf oriented hotel
Very nice hotel and golf. Is located 15 min fron Jerez center. Brand new facilities. The breakfast is great!!
nice hotel but....
hotel and golf course are very good, but unless you are just playing golf you will be a little isolated. need to take or hire a car to get the best from the area. the course management could be a little better, the bunkers aren't the best and the watering policy needs to be reviewed, to wet under foot most of the time, and don't change the pin positions often enough.
relaxing place to stay
an excellent hotel with lovely grounds and good swimming pools. Slightly disappointed that pools not open until 11am ruling out early morning swims prior to day activities. Lovely apartment but kitchen could be better equipped for those who want to make food. Breakfast excellent.
Great place to stay
Fantastic hotel, and beautiful grounds, with free golf included. although buggy a bit expensive. Was a bit tricky to find, if you go by their directions. it is junction 3 off the main highway towards Arcos, next door to race track.
Lovely Villa
Two couples recently stayed at this resort. The Villas are very comfortable and the breakfast that was included was fabulous. However, because of the large volume of golfers staying at this resort our husbands were not able to get a tee time until 4:30pm, so I would recommend booking a time before your visit. We really enjoyed the day trip we took from Jerez to beautiful Cadiz on the ferry, there were lots of sailings and very easy to accomplish in a day.
Golf weekender
Great stay , lovely breakfast , lovely grounds , a bit noisy in morning after 845
Nice hotel if you golf
Buffet dinner ok breakfast was good. View from the terrace was lovely. Spa hours too limited. We thought it might offer more luxury than it did but we are not golfers for golfers would be a great choice.
Building mess spoils the guest experience
Stay was very enjoyable and we played golf both days in monecastillo. The unfinished and derelict building sites to the rear of the hotel are a huge eye-sore on what was once a magnificant landscape. It would prevent me recommmending friends to stay at the hotel. Also we found the booking documentation misleading because it said beverages were included with the meals as all-in package for the 2 days we had booked. The hotel receptionist said that beverages were only available free to guests booking 4 days which I am sure is correct but the booking documentation is in my opinion , unfairly obscure. Wonderful hotel.
We had a beautiful room with a fabulous view. Very comfortable, very kind and helpful staff. All together we had a wonderful time.
A great venue for a golf stay
my wife and I stayed at Montecastillo in September for 5 nights - and managed 3 days of golf and 2 days of sight seeing. The hotel is clean and of a very good quality; breakfast is excellent and generally it is a lovely venue for golfers. There is nothing in the immediate walking vicinity of the hotel (except the Jerez Motor circuit - mainly motorbikes). But Jerez is a 10 minute drive away and lots of things to do there; Cadiz maybe 30 minutes and Seville an hour. Golf before 11:00 in effect costs 48 Euros per couple (as you must have a buggy); but after 11:00 you can walk and we did on 2 occasions although some walks from green to tees is a bit long. Lovely place though and will go back again.
Rated as 5 star but only 4 star in reality as entr
Reception could not find my reservation as they had registered it in my 2 middle names even though I had e-mailed ahead. Half the rooms look out on a huge bankrupted and derelict real estate development and only 10% of the rooms have balconies. Many of the rooms overlooking the golf course have their view blocked by trees. Very hard to sleep because the room temperature was hard to regulate and the bedding was too warm and the open window could be noisy. I discovered that rooms classified as superior are in fact standard and I refused to check-in to my free upgrade to a superior (standard) room with balcony and golf course view. I was offered a further upgrade for 20 euros a night but when I threatened to cancel the booking and go elsewhere, I was given the double upgrade free - the room was just acceptable.. The great surprise was the excellent buffet dinner at 25 euros each including half-a-bottle of wine - the dishes were equivalent of an a la carte menu! There are 2 excellent swimming pools and I would imagine that, for golfers, the Jack Nicklaus designed golf course is great and the green fees are included in the room rate. However, the hotel is 500m. from the Spanish grand prix track so that on race days and practices, the noise of racing cars and bikes is unbearable for those swimming, sitting out or golfing
Quiet Setting
Loved the resort. We were 3 sisters and stayed in a comfortable 2 bedroom villa. Very pleasant grounds on the golf course. Private patio to enjoy the views and birds. It stands alone, so is not close to shopping, restaurants, etc. Perfect for golfers.
Great value
Excellent value although disappointing only buffet style restaurant
Quiet ideal for golfers.
It was a very short stay. Nice size Room. Bed was very comfortable. The main areas are definitely more conducive to bigger groups, golfers. Very brightly lit areas so not geared for a romantic getaway. Enjoyed the spa and massage!
Beware The Piano Player
Very comfortable hotel with very good staff service, but they have a piano player in the bar on weekends, who bangs the ivories with unrestrained enthusiasm until 11:00 p.m. So if you are looking for an early night's sleep then forget it. Also make sure that you room overlooks the golf course and not the building site at the front.
Great Deal for the price
Right in the middle of 50 golf courses, nice hotel. Pay parking vs parking on the street was not an issue i foresaw. And breakfast included does NOT include breakfast in your room like other Barcelo hotels. All in all, a good deal.
Good hotel for golfing groups
The hotel is in a lovely position outside Jerez, looking out over its own golf course. The guests are mainly golfers but we are not, so cannot comment on the quality of the course. Our stay didn't start well because the reception had no record of our booking although we gave them their own reservation number. After standing around for about half an hour they suddenly checked us in, with no apology for the wait or any explanation. During the time we waited, we had to watch them check in two French couples, with great charm and fuss, while totally ignoring our situation, which made us feel even more unwelcome. Then we had to ask to change rooms as we were given one right opposite the lifts and just above the open atrium to the reception, which was very noisy. To be fair, they did give us a quieter room, without hesitation. We thought the quality of the food was very good.
We had a two night stay at the hotel. It is a lovely place with wonderful views out to the golf course. We were given a complimentary drink at the bar as our room wasn't ready but we were early so that was a very nice touch. The reception staff were good and most of the restaurant staff. Service at the bar was a bit slow but I think that was because a lot of groups of golfers were on all inclusive deals and they weren't keen to keep coming round to check if you wanted a drink. The hotel asked if we would like to upgrade to a golf view but we had one anyway with a lovely terrace. Our booking included breakfast. An excellent buffet choice - very much catering to the British market with choice of fry up or continental but also a Spanish breakfast of churros or toast and oil, fruit etc if you preferred. We were asked if we wanted to pay an extra 35€ pp for dinner and entrance to the spa which we did for the first night, Splitting dinner one night and the spa the next day. The spa was excellent. The circuit-indoor pool, steam room, sauna etc were great and the spa was quiet - lovely - as was the facial I had. There are also two outdoor pools. Dinner was a disappointment and let the hotel down. I don't mind having a buffet dinner if the choice is good and the food is hot. Because the deal we took included free drinks it seemed quite hard to get hold of them but it was the only downside to an otherwise lovely stay.
Good 4 star, for golf and relaxing. Buffet food offers something for everyone.
Whilst nowhere near a 5 star hotel, this is a good 4 star golf hotel, with a laid back atmosphere, ideal for relaxing and if you just want golf, swim, exercise. A little isolated but Jerez and Cadiz are within taxi distance. Surrounded by undeveloped flat complex and house plots but that doesn't impact. Short 10min taxi ride from Jerez Airport. Jerez racing circuit nearby. Great deals for golf, but make sure you book and reserve a buggy as there is a shortage and the course is undulating with some long walks from green to tee. The course offers a good test for all standards of player but beginners will find it challenging.
A wonderful place ten years ago.
This property must have been gorgeous when it was built. Unfortunately, and unlike the Barcelo chain in general, it has not been maintained. There was numerous peeling paint, leaky faucets, broken swimming pool and doors crooked on their hinges. All the staff with the exception of the front desk staff was excellent and helpful. A pleasant stay for the right price, but definitely not deserving of its 5 star rating for amenities, condition or quality of the food.
Relaxed, quiet, peaceful
This hotel appears to have been an older facility that was modernized. I had a standard room with king bed, tile floors, no looking over the golf course. It was exceptionally clean. The location is in a "gated community" that is growing. The golf course is spectacular. There are many new (and large) homes around the course. The food buffet was just wondrous and for dinner at 25Euros with water and wine was a reasonably good deal. Expect to eat dinner late. The wireless Internet would not connect to my primary ISP but I was able to use gmail.com to get my emails out. There were several families there the night I stayed in early June 2010. British, German, Spanish, and Americans were all there. I did not use any of the pool, spa, golf, or exercise facilities as my visit was only an overnight stay.
First Class
The staff were excellent and most spoke English. The food was good, although fairly expensive.
Excellent hotel for the price !
Finding a 5 stars hotel at low price with full breakfast for 2 is not so easy. The hotel is very nice, 10 to 15 minutes of downtown Jerez by car. Very nice golf, 2 big swimming pool outside, fitness and wellness center and another swimming-pool inside. Room is nice, calm and well decorated. WiFi access is included for free and parking too. Our view was not on the golf but the view from the golf seems outstanding. There are 2 parts in the hotel, the old and the new one. We were in the new one, near the entrance of the hotel. Breakfast is excellent. A lot of beautiful sites to see around. We have had a very good service from the desk (they let the swimming pool opened 1 hour more cause we arrives late and the weather was hot).
Recommended
While the room itself was not top-notch, the hotel itself had everything one might ever need - 2 large pools with plenty of chairs, spa, golf, tennis, restaurant, etc, etc. The service was good as well and, together with all the amentities, made our stay very enjoyable.
Booked a familiy lodge
The hotel and food are great the seperate travel lodges need sincerly maintenaince in order to be ranked as a 5 star
Beauty Outside of Jerez
Located about 10 minutes from downtown Jerez, this beautiful hotel is nestled on a hill overlooking Jerez de la Frontera in the distance. Excellent service and a beautiful restaurant and patio. Pure R&R.
Fantastic hotel.
I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again, awesome. It's a fantastic hotel for couples and families alike. Staff were amazing, the food (breakfast)was a great way to start a spanish day.
Nice hotel
Excellent service and nice clean rooms. Highly recommend.
SPA???
Hyggelig betjening og bra mat. Fin golfbane etter en tørr sommer. Noe støy fra motorbanen på noen hull.
Struttura classica dei primi anni 2000. Grande dispersiva e standard. Buona fino a 150 euro a notte.
Cerca a Sevilla y Cádiz .

inside room was cold at this season. and too much dry(no humidity).
volveremos a repetir
Buitengewoon verblijf, direct thuisgevoel
Enclave privilegiado, vistas golf espectaculares.
Good hotel, people friendly, nice all in, but a bit old. It is not a 5 stars but more 4.
Gracias
Excellent trip would thoroughly recommend
Nydelig to etasjers rekkehusleilighet med bra standard. Nydelige områder for turer med mer Bra bar / restaurant - god service
Schöne Lage auf Golfplatz. Freundliches Personal.
Golfparadis
Jättetrevlig anläggning, somgjord för golfare. Utmärkt golfbana i bra skick.
