This hotel is very cozy and well located closed to everything. The hotel is antique so the rooms tend to have a strong “old” smell. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was fresh made and delicious.

An average place with a great staff!

Was my first trip to Cartagena and Colomia. I booked this hotel online. In all my travel, it is confirmed that you get what you pay for (or don’t pay for). Pros: Friendly and helpful staff. The team goes above and beyond to help the customer. Also has a great breakfast spread. ideal location to Walled City and easy to get to the ariport. Cons: Hotel is very average. It requires a lot of maintenance. The rooms felt straight out another era, but not in a good way. The lighting was dim, there was a strange odor permeating through the corridor and the room. The furnitures and fixtures did’t feel like it had been cleaned in ages. I think they just need to be replaced. For me the challenge compounded when the AC in my room started making some real loud noise. The hotel staff were helpful in getting me to a different room so I could get some sleep. But it was very painful to go through that in the middle of the night. Finally, the hot water was practically non-existant. I ended up taking a shower in near cold water. Also the WiFi was very weak. The signal was better if I was in a certain part of the hotel or the room. Otherwise, even a simple access to Google.com would take minutes to load, or crash.

Nice hotel with rooftop jacuzi

I stayed 2 nights here. Great location - a 5 minute walk from the beach. There was a rooftop jacuzi with hammocks. The breakfast was a buffet, but you also had a choice of eggs - scrambled, omlette etc., I thought it offered excellent value. Very welcoming and extremely helpful staff.

Charming

This is quite a nice little hotel with a great Italian restaurant. The included breakfast was excellent. The rooms were a bit on the small side perhaps, as noted by other reviewers, but in this price range hard to find better anyway. Room size was adequate. Location is good. The hotel's artwork and antiques add to its appeal.

Central location, but that's about all...

I had to endure a very convoluted process just to cancel my reservation. The room that I booked was nothing like i imagined. The hotel canceled 5/6 of the nights left on my reservation, but getting that done was like pulling teeth.

A decent hotel in the tourist area

The hotel is located in Bocagrande, the tourist district in Cartagena. However, the WiFi connection is really poor in some areas of the hotel. The jacuzzi closes extremely early. Finally, communication between the staff is really poor. As is often said, "left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing."

The staff was very friendly and spoke decent English. So if I needed help with anything the language barrier was not an issue. They provide transportation to and from the hotel witch was helpful. A/C and Wi-Fi worked great. The hotel is located 2 blocks from beach and there are many places to eat near bye. I would recommend it to family and friends. Truly the staff treated us like family! We all came down with a travelers sickness bug and the staff was constantly checking in to see if we needed anything. The accommodations are bright and beautiful like the city of Cartagena. Wifi is strong and spot on. Our favorite spot was the rooftop hammocks to just hang and read at the end of the day. Good hotel for the price

We stayed here for 4 nights over New Year's. The hotel is very close to the beach and a 10 min ($5) cab ride from the old city. Cartagena is known for its Walled City but we enjoyed our stay in Bocagrande which was more calm and affordable, though not as beautiful. The hotel is also close to boats which will take you to one of several islands. The facilities themselves are out of date, but it is very clean and quaint. The rooftop has several hammocks and jacuzzis that are nice in the evenings. The breakfast (breads, fruits, juices, eggs) is included and is served in a pleasant courtyard. Most importantly the staff is very friendly! They even upgraded us to a nicer room. Overall for the price we had a great experience.

Good breakfasts, management needs improvement

For the most part we enjoyed our stay. However, when we arrived our room was not ready at the time we were supposed to be able to check in. It wasn't ready until about three hours after that time. No discount was offered. The receptionist also asked if my fiancé (27 years old) was a minor. That seemed kind of insulting. That same lady was also less than helpful when we asked about good places to eat in the area. That said it was only this one lady (who seemed to be higher up) that was rude. Otherwise, all the rest of the hotel workers were fantastic and incredibly nice. Breakfast buffet was great too!

Nice Family Atomosphere in Bocagrande

Stayed here for 3 nights on my honeymoon after staying for 3 nights in the old city (Getsemani). San Pietro is a nice little place - breakfast is awesome, restaurant downstairs is solid, and room was clean and big. I asked for a room that faced the terrace so I had no problems with noise. There are a ton of food options within walking distance. You will need to take a taxi to go back and forth to the old town but it's fairly easy to catch a taxi and it'll only cost you around $3-$4. Service itself is ok. People at the front desk aren't necessarily smiling and trying to go above and beyond to make you happy but they are nice nevertheless. I recommend the place overall.

Pictures nice but reality different

The hotel first floor is nice like in the pictures. The second floor is not as nice as the first. Breakfast is limited. There is not variety in the menu. Always the same eggs and plenty of cheap bread. Although the breakfast schedule says until 10:00 a.m. There were many times that we had breakfast at 8:00 a.m and it was half breakfast. They would not prepare more for us. Very disappointing. Staff at the hotel are nice and do their best to help you. The room's bathroom is rather small. It floods after every shower. Definitively, I would not go back to this hotel.

Hotel is very pleasant with a very friendly staff,

We were at the hotel in early May, which is a fairly slow time. The hotel is quite attractive in an excellent location for restaurants, etc. Not far from the beach. They seemed to be well staffed. Only hesitation is that most staff have very limited English skills. So, like most of Colombia, be prepared with at least a few Spanish phrases.

Good location

The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was included and was served on a patio. It was well presented and complete. The jacuzzis were not available all of the time because of maintenance but when they were, it was refreshing to use since the weather was low 30's. There was everything you need just around the corner: banks, supermercados, restaurants etc.... The hotel staff helped us with setting a city tour which took us downtown in the historical Cartagena. The beach is beautiful and only 2 blocks away. We would stay there again.

Great place to stay

A friend and I stayed here for one night in April. What stood out most to me about this hotel was the service. Everyone was very friendly and bent over backwards to accommodate us, even going as far as storing our luggage after check out! As far as the actual hotel goes, it was modest, exactly what you'd expect for that price point. It was a nice step up from a hostel, but I wouldn't exactly call it luxurious.

Great hotel in the middle of Bocagrande

My girlfriend and I had a terrific experience here for 5 nights in January 2013. The hotel is in a busy and safe area (one block off the noisy main street San Martin),steps away from many restaurants and stores and two blocks away from the beach. We had a standard room and it was very clean, made up every day and the air conditioning was fantastic. A buffet breakfast was served every day in a beautiful courtyard, and there is a restaurant attached to the front of the hotel that was very good. The hotel staff was very friendly and there was good free WiFi throughout the rooms and outside public areas. The best kept secret is the lounge chairs and hammock on the roof! Taxis are plentiful right outside the hotel and it's less than a 10 minute drive to the walled city. We actually walked every day to the walled city, which was totally safe and about 45 minutes each way. We really cannot say enough good things about Hotel San Pietro

The staff overall was a step above being rude and the buffet breakfast was a disappointment. The breakfast area was exposed to the outside and at one point a bird pooped on one of the servers. Measures could be in place to eliminate the birds i.e. wire strung across the opening...it works for pools in Florida. On the plus side the hotel is very quaint and is in a good location. If we return to Cartagena we definitely will not stay at this hotel. I think the hotel was probably displaying a bogus award plaque from Trip Advisor at the front desk.

This is a nice boutique hotel, but it is getting old and needs some retouches. Also, breakfast needs to improve. Colombia is a country with fresh fruits, vestibles, and delicious food. Moreover, the city of Cartagena has so many delicious food options to share, however, the breakfast did not reflect this.

Satisfactory but not great!

The hotel is very cute and clean. The hotel oversold itself on the site we used as they said all beds had down comforters and blankets, and patio or garden views. Well, our room lookied out at a small four foot square area of brick and a planter box on a shelf, and the blanket and bedspread were a little old and thin (no down involved). Otherwise, we really don't have any complaints. The A/C worked fairly well and we did have a refrigerator. The restaurant on site was very nice although we were never around at meal time so only had soup there on one occasion. They do serve a buffet breakfast to their guests which consists of scrambled eggs, rolls, arepas, juice and coffee or tea which was very nice. Overall, we liked it "ok", and it would have been perfect had we wanted to spend a lot of time at the beach because it is only two short blocks away. We, however, were more interested in going to the old "walled city" more, and so had to hire a taxi each time we went. Fortunately, it is easy to flag a taxi and it costs only $3 US each way.

Very quaint hotel

I just returned from a 6 day stay at the San Pietro Hotel. What a wonderful, quaint and charming place! The first room I was put into had a broken air conditioner and the staff immediately moved me to a larger, nicer room. The hotel is spotlessly clean and comfortable. The staff went out of their way to answer any questions I had...though their knowledge of English was minimal, we were still able to understand each other. I ate delicious meals at the attached restuarant many nights because I could not find any really decent places within walking distance to eat. The included breakfast in the morning was delicious, though the menu never changed. The beach is just around the corner...so that was nice. I would not hesitate to stay there again.

Great hotel! The room was clean and cozy and the air conditioning saved our life! The breakfast was exceptional. The location is ten minutes away from the old city.

Nice place and enjoy the roof top.

Was a nice hotel. Staff knew some english and I knew some spanish so it was not a problem. They make you check guests in, which was not a problem. Food at breakfast and dinner was pretty good (breakfast included). Its in a busy area so really not a problem to walk around and taxi's are everywhere (and cheap)...if you need one. Not that far of a drive to the walled city. I would watch out for locals as when you go to popular spots they will want to show you around (and later hound you for money for doing so, regardless how many bottles of liqour you shared with them lol). Most of the people are poor so its understandable. Under the influence I was taken to some shady areas not close to the city, so I def dont reccomend doing that. Thankfully I am built they way I am so I was never messed with...but I was a bit uneasy at times. That being said...they made sure I got back to my hotel ok. Hotel staff was available 24/7 and the price was ok.

Great experience at the San Pietro

My boyfriend and I spent a night at the San Pietro and very much enjoyed the experience. It was one of three hotels we stayed at in Cartagena, and is hands-down the one that I would recommend to friends. We stayed in a superior double room -- it was large, and comfortable. Our room overlooked the courtyard where breakfast was served, and was quiet at nice. The staff at the hotel is very friendly, courteous, and helpful. They were a great resource to have during our time there. The hotel is in Bocagrande, which is outside of the center of the city. That being said, I think it's a great option -- the hotels in the center tend to be either very expensive or more along the lines of cold water hostels. The San Pietro is a great value and is a short taxi ride away from the old city; taxis are very available in Bocagrande, making the hotel pretty convenient.

Clean and inexpensive

All I wanted were a couple of rooms that were clean and inexpensive...this hotel provided both as well as employees that were friendly. The San Pietro is not in the heart of the tourist section, but is only about a five dollar (1/2011) taxi ride. The neighborhood is not the greatest, but that is not to say it isn't acceptable, it is. On the other hand, if I wall willing to spend better than double the amount, I could have stayed in the old town area - my cost was about $80.00 per night per room.

Would go Round 2 at San Pietro

This hotel was great! It was walking distance from the beach, restaurants and the beautiful strip. There are 24 hr stores right around the corner. The staff were friendly and helpful, they helped book our tours and chiva ride. Breakfast was good and served in the patio. I loved the art work everywhere, the hotel had character and the rooms were clean and neat although our safe didnt work. I would definetely go back to this hotel!

An Adequate Hotel

The staff were accomodating. The rooms were realitively clean. This is a low to mid budget hotel so the price could be a little lower. Generally, it was worth the stay.

decent hotel in Colombia

very friendly staff, conditioners are working well, clean comfortable room. But some of the rooms are very small with one twin bed, with no window to outside , but with the window overlooking to stairs (it was really ridiculous for me). We got room like that initially when checked in. I told that I can not breath in room like that, so they changed our room to one with bed king size and window looking to patio. they serve nice continental beakfast on the patio with freshly squeezed juices, fruits, cheese, pancakes and eggs. However who has a problem to sleep in noisy location, should take earpluges to fall a sleep there - air conditioners are really noisy at night.

Good impression!

In general, it is a nice hotel! Clean, free internet, service is good, people are nice and restaurant is also ok, but the shower is not good (hot water, but no pressure at all) and some rooms are in a very noisy environment. I was in one of them and woke up 5am because they started preparing breakfast :( Then, I asked to change and the other room was really nice and well decorated, with fridge and locker. Breakfast is ok, with fruits, bread, cereal and etc..., but pretty much the same everyday. It is located in Bocagrande, which is a nice area and has everything you need on a walking distance. Overall, I would certainly go back there if I go to Cartagena.

THE BEST VALUE MONEY CAN BUY!!

Me and my wife spent 13 day's at this hotel, the breakfest was great, the maid service, the laundry service the bed's were comportable, it has an amazing old Italian archeticture, it has a roof-top hot tub, with hammock's, it's located 5-minutes from the beach, there are many resturant's within walking distance, market's to shop and put some snack's in your refriderator.taxi service out front, internet cafe across the street, what more could you ask for! and the price was a bargain, the management was top notch, parking across the street, bus service,15 minutes to the city center, it was a pleasure!!cant wait to come back.

It could be better

At the same time, I found that some friends were staying in another nearby hotel, which for the same price offered much better conditions, location in front of the beach, better rooms, etc. So I felt quite dissapointed

Decepcionada

No me gusto nada!!
