Beware

Hotel is far away from the location marked on the hotels.com map. A very long walk to Ubud and most taxis will not travel the road there. Was so far up the road that we decided to turn around and get another hotel elsewhere - this is not a good place to stay if you hope to see Ubud... probably perfect if you love sitting in rice fields.

Private hideaway

Great view of the surrounding rice fields. Very quiet. Rooms were large with adequate facilities but werenot quite as described. No wifi even though it was mentioned as being available. Not all rooms were air conditioned either. Very peaceful and beautiful setting but quite a walk from the main area. Also worth noting that cars are unable to drive all the way up to the villa. Nice, affordable stay with all the necessities and friendly staff though.

Confusing

This hotel has some fabulous positives and dreadful negatives. Depending what is important to you you may give it 0 or 5 out of 5. Firstly the problems... There is a whole list of things that weren't as specified...no internet, no aircon,no tv, no transportation (nearest road a car can reach is 400yrds away),the pool is nowhere near but beautiful(also wifi near the pool), the list goes on! The bathroom wasn't in a great state with moldy curtains and the staff couldnt manage tasks like booking a taxi. On the other hand the location is stunning, bit of a pain (15minute walk into central Ubud). We enjoyed the peace and tranquility with pady fields surrounding and the views of the stars at night were sublime. If you want somewhere to really get away from it, this is for you, if you can't cope without your modern appliances then maybe not.

Tourist trap

Totally false advertisement and should be removed from Expedia website. This villa is in the middle of rice fields and not accessible by car, thus we had to pull our luggage up the hill on uneven surface for about 1000 meters, than there was nobody to talk to except teenage girl, who can say only "hello". Location and room description do not correspond with reality. We did not check-in

Becareful of false advertisement!

I had a very unpleasant experience We were upgraded to another location without prior notice because they overbook and the staff barely speak English. The map and address for suksma 1 were wrong and unclear so it was hard to find and no car can access. The location for Suksma 2 was not 10 mins like they claimed, it was at least 30mins without sidewalk. Also no wifi. Please book with caution. Here is the detail for my experience if you have time to read: First, the map on the site is wrong, the actual location is about 0.5 mile further where no car can access. Also, the address listed didnt provide the actual number so it was extremely difficult to find especially in the pouring rain with luggage, it took us almost an hour to find the place. When we arrive to the location at 4:30pm, the two girls (one doesn't speak English)who worked there told us they don't have room for us and would like to upgrade us to their new location and the shuttle will arrive in 15 mins. We also asked about swimming pool and wifi that was listed under their amenities highlight, they said they don't have those. 45 mins passed and there are still no shuttle. I asked them if we can have any food since we were up at 6:00am and havnt eaten, they said they don't have food, so I asked where is the shuttle and they made a few phone calls and asked us to wait and they walked out. Meanwhile, two other hotel guests arrived and had the same problem as us finding the hotel and was very upset how far off the map was compare to the actual location. One girl came back after 20mins and said our shuttle is ready. The new guests tried to check in but she was shocked because she didn't know there are more booking. Then she got caught up trying to make phone calls (but no one picks up)and too occupied to take us to the location of the shuttle (somewhere down the hill) After another 10mins, I stopped her and asked to take us to the shuttle and she walked all of us down the hill. When we arrive to the new villa, we notice we are way far off from the ubud center in a very obscure location. The boy who works there took us to the back of the villa to a isolate room (which is quite nice) and I asked him if there any food in the villa and restaurants close by, he said no. So I asked him how to get to city center, he said walk. Then I asked him to show us the wifi, he couldn't find the connection. I felt like I was stranded in the middle of no where in heavy rain and couldn't go anywhere. So I requested to speak to the manager, he walked out and came back with a number, we couldn't call since there is no wifi but fortunately the shuttle driver who was waiting for the payment lend us a phone. We talked to the manager and she said she will come by. After 20 mins, the kids came back with the paperwork and said either we sign this or we leave and get a full refund. They will let us stay in this room for the night and move us again the day after. I was very upset and asked where is the manager and he said the manager is not coming so we had no choice but to sign the paper work. But he agree to let us stay in the same room when I request not to be moved again. At that point, I felt like the manager was trying to kick us out because they over booked and the two guests we met earlier still need a room. The whole process took us almost 4 hours and then we had to walk to find resturant without street light and in heavy rain. I checked their website and they said walking to ubud center is only 10 mins which is false because we walked there again during the day without the rain and it took at least 25 mins because there is no side walk to the way there. I had a very bad experience with this villa, not only the false advertisement and being relocate without prior notice, also the staff are young, inexperienced and barely speak English. Manager is not onsite and refused to show up. We only had two pieces of tiny soap to use in the bathroom. The location is way far from the city center. P.s we bumped into the two guests we met and they said the villa booked another hotel for them because they were overbooked.

Off the typical tourist path

Staying here was truly a relaxing experience. Actually they have two locations. Bali Suksma Villa 1 is located at the end of the road in the middle of rice fields. Villa 2 is located on the opposite side of Ubud in the Bali Cultural Center nearby is the Monkey Forest. Family run, very quiet. Excellent attention to detail of an upscale room experience, but with the feel of being in the country. Great breakfast each morning. Fruit, juice, eggs to order, toast. More than enough to get you going for the day. Room very clean with comfortable mattress and upgraded linens. Big bathroom. If you are looking for a quiet place to relax this is the place. A bit of a distance to the central Ubud area but it is walkable in a reasonable time. If you rent a motorbike you are set. At night you can sleep with the windows open and all you hear is the sounds of nature at night.

Serene location

This was a terrific place for my purposes, but it could have backfired if I were traveling with a lot of luggage because you must walk the last 1/4 mile (400M), partially uphill to get to the rice fields. It is absolutely nowhere near the position that the Hotels.com map shows it. It took me about 45 minutes to actually find it. That said, the location was stunning, the place is fairly new and spotlessly clean, the breakfast was excellent (made to order, not warmed over buffet) and the price was a very good value. It's not AC, but was very comfortable in the evening with the ceiling fan on and the windows open. Beautiful views of the rice fields from right in the middle of the rice fields. I would go again, and probably will, but pack light.

Good view but very warm

The villa has a wounderful view surounded by padi field. We have had our breakfast looking across the padi field. It was a great feeling and we have a good time. But the villa is very warm during our stay there. I think it is good for people living in the village as well as people who is cool. The villa rooms can be very warm in the day and night, especially when one want to catch a good sleep. It would be perfect if all rooms are airconditioned. Otherwise it would be perfect. And it would be fun if you know how to ride a bike as it is about 20 mins by foot to get a transport.

Very nice location in the rice fields

We stayed at Vila 1 and confirmed this with the hotel on email prior to arrival. When booking this hotel you need to read the description and make you expectations match in order not to be disappointed. The hotel is situated in the middle of the rice fields, therefore not very central - but very beautifully located. The pool is at a different hotel about 5 minutes’ walk - as they cannot build a pool in near the rice fields, and there is only wifi at the pool not at the hotel. The staff was very helpful and friendly and accommodated all our requests. We really loved staying in a nice and quiet area just 10 minuttes walk from central Ubud.
