Perfect location. Building was older like most in that area but the rooms were nice, clean, and spacious. Bed was very comfortable. No view at all, overlooking a small courtyard and other rooms, helped with the quiet though. Bathroom door was odd. A big, heavy rolling door with no lock, that sometimes rolled open at inconvenient times. Otherwise very good, and would stay there again.
The beds were too soft, the rooms were small and we supposedly got upgraded to bigger rooms. The hotel is nice but the area is not very good
Great experience overall!
Cute delivery boy, but extra firm bed
Our room was clean and had a great view of the cable car turnaround. The star of the night was the delivery boy, Astro. He delivered my crème brûlée and did a little dance before rolling back to Axiom’s Turn Cafe. Truly the only downside was the bed. It was extremely firm, like sleeping on a table. However, I bet it would be a dream for those who like firm beds.
I loved that it was so close to the train and so close to nice stores.
The area has a
Property was super nice inside. Never forget you are down town and that doesnt change when u are down town. But we walked around found a roof top bar few blocks away to chill at night. Best is you can walk out and jump on the San Francisco trolley. Best ride do the down to fisher man wharf. Biggest hills best view. Its outside the main door. If you want the adventure it starts here.
Very accessible but the hotel walkway is kind of dark.
money for value
very helpful and friendly staff. very comfortable room. terrific location. nice ambience lovely, but small gym. no dinning room. does have a cafeteria that makes meals.
Perfect location. Trolly car right outside the hotel. Front desk employee was fun snd helpful. Loved playing food ball and packman
Great hotel, location, and staff. Definitely stay there again
Aircon is not working so were given a portable one which consumed a space & its noisy.
Nicely located right next to cable car. Rooms on the small side but very clean and cosy. The parking is expensive at $65 a night. AC was a unit in the room on the floor.we never used it as the temperature was fine. Keep an eye out for the room service robot. The hotel is located neat Union Square and Chinatown. Would stay again.
So close to the BART station, and the cable car terminus is literally right out the front door.
Staff were great. Only complaint was our air conditioning didn’t work.
Liked the room but other stuff like parking was absolutely ridiculous. 65$ to park is outrageous. If valet make an earning by tips then lower your cost and I might start handing out 20’s. I too worked valet before and we never charged over 25$ a night. That was in Santa Barbara for context.
Location, location.
Excellent location. Front desk was poor, not user friendly and only adequate staff. Room service was good.
It was close to everything we wanted to see.
Few nights stay.
It’s great central located in city area. Shame about so many bankrupt shops closed down around hotel. Water pressure is so low, hard to get all my body wet/cleaned from how water shower. One biggest useless thing in the room is mini fridge. It only runs up to 2 hours, you will need to press it on every 2 hours. I couldn’t put yoghurt in it because I’ll be asleep instead of pressing it on every 2 hours. So I get yoghurt from walgreens nearby each morning. I don’t understand why hotel decided to purchase this in rooms.
Great location and friendly staff
Awesome convenient location (watch for extras)
Clean and comfortable room nice showers and cool amenities downstairs. What’s not cool is the 3pm check in time that most hotels let me check in for at 10am no problem without an extra fee. You’ll be charged $50 plus some other fee if you try to check in early, so I opted to roam the city for a few hours. It’s conveniently placed right outside of the bart so you don’t have to worry about getting a rental and can get pretty much anywhere from it relatively cheaply. I saw a baseball game in Oakland and was able to take it right to the collisiem. I was also able to take the train to and from the airport. There’s also a cable car route right in front of the hotel that you can take to fisherman’s wharf if you want to check out that area! My only other real complaint is the rooms are really small but if you just need a clean nice place to sleep At night in San Francisco that’s close to all the transit I would highly recommend this place.
If you are looking for sleepless nights with the sound of ambulances, cars and a very poor maintained portable AC select this hotel
No parking is the worst
Despite the area of town around the hotel being a bit less savory, the hotel itself was a gem! I felt safe and secure and the proximity to the Moscone Center made my experience just perfect.
Classy, sleek, and conveniently located.
This hotel is close to everything great location. Wish the front desk staff were more friendly. But overall great stay. I would stay here again.
Not a four star
when I first arrived at the axiom, I couldn’t find the entrance because it was dark and poorly marked. They were homeless people hanging around near the front. I had to call the hotel to find out how to get inside and where to park my vehicle. The parking access is only by valet parking, which you cannot use until you actually check in. I had to leave my truck in front of the building and I felt very unsafe for myself and my truck for a bath Tub in our room which meant we received a full handicap suite. We were not informed that this would be the case.
Great staff. Small but nice room. Great gym. Cafe in lobby. Lots of public work spaces.
Not very clean, lots of cracks in the room
Puedes hacer todo caminando por qué está en el centro de la ciudad
Excellent hotel, great location and the rooms were huge. Staff were friendly, although I showed up early for check in, they had a room available, but wanted to charge me $50 for the privilege. Otherwise amazing, will happily stay here again.
You might doubt the location of this hotel if you enter from Cyri St, because the Tenderloin neighborhood is on that said. But, if you enter from the other side (Powell St), it is different because that is where the cable cur turn around. Very convenient if you are trying to hop on the cable cars. Near by many stores for any shopping needs. Only downside of this hotel is the Valet parking service, they said they need 15mins, but expect to spend 30-45 mins. The texting feature never worked, you have to walk down to the receptionist to let them know you texted. Don’t do Valet dor the price they are charging, service is not good.
Beautiful friendliest staffs in the square

Cable cars takes you climb halfway up to the moon and you can’t help but give up your heart
Axiom Hotel is conveniently located just steps from the Powell St Muni/BART station and two blocks from Union Square. This boutique hotel was built in 1908 and underwent a major renovation in the past ten years. The rooms are clean and comfortable and feature nice amenities. The staff is friendly and professional. Dining options are abundant nearby as are shopping opportunities. We highly recommend this property.
This was a great place to stay right outside was the cable car easy access around the city in the streetcars
Great central location and steps away from BART/Muni/Cable Carts/BUS. Hotel is also updated, interesting mix of modern and old-style building. And it is centrally located to all the tourist sights in SF. However opportunity is 1) house keeping details - trash not taken out and piece of trash on the floor 2) Not all room's heat/air is working - a lot of maintenance going on in the hotel 3) walked into the hotel and a person from street was walking through the lobby without getting stopped 4) interesting smells through out different part of the building and elevator.
I really enjoyed my stay!
it's a good hotel if you just want a central location to crash
I had previously posted a three star review based on my check-in experience. This was aimed at the failings of Expedia, rather than the hotel. However, the hotel instantly responded with a room upgrade and fee waiver that was more than generous. This hotel is exceptionally clean and has been updated everywhere. All the staff were helpful and friendly. The location can not be beat. Outside the front door is the BART station (to and from the airport), two Cable car lines, the F Tram (up to Castro district and all the way to Fisherman's wharf), plus the subway and numerous buses. Within walking distance are Union Square, Chinatown, City Hall, and the major theatres. In the lobby is a tiny cafe that serves delicious coffee and pastries in the mornings, and has a surprisingly diverse menu available. Very friendly servers. The only downsides to the hotel are that some of the surrounding streets are sketchy in the daytime and possibly dangerous at night (stick to Market Street or take an Uber), and some of the rooms overlooking the Cable Car terminus are noisy. Highly recommend it.
Very quiet and amazing place. Everything is closeby. Clean and beautiful.
No room upgrade. Our daughter in her own room was on the 6th floor, while we are stuck on the very noisy third floor. No bottle of wine as promised by Expedia (“VIP Service”).
The Axiom is a friendly, tech forward hotel with reasonable sized rooms for downtown San Francisco. The low rating for the noise- I expect noise in downtown, but the outer window did not closer properly, despite the friendly maintenance folks trying to fix it. Super clean, comfortable room, fast internet, exercise room with a Peloton bike, and cafe in-house made for a comfortable business stay
Great location. Next to Powell St BART & Moscone. Lots of good stuff nearby.
Great staff with attentive service
Nice Hotel
The hotel was very nice! The room was very very nice! We were right in the center for all transportation so we got to get on the cable cars, bus, the train! Everything we wanted to do, we accessed via public transportation. Restaurant options were great. There’s homeless ppl but they don’t bother you. I would come back to this hotel again if ever back in San Fran!
Decent property with a slightly confusing car entrance. We had to circle the building and call before any valet came and took our car from the busy road for us to unload. The staff were all terrific and the rooms themselves are modern. The hallways and elevators are narrow so make sure you don’t have any oversized items. They share a space with a small cafe so food is not a problem. Unfortunately, the most beautiful part of this property is its main reception. The rooms have a completely different vibe. In our room, the AC would work and stop working throughout the night and it was freezing in the room. The front staff were gracious enough to come up and fix it from time to time but at a point it was too late in the night to deal with. We were unable to move to a more functional room. It would have been an amazing stay if it weren’t for the valet and AC issues. For the price, these problems should have not happened.
Great location if walking to Union Square but many unhoused people in the area. Our room was great except for the construction work in the next room over. The work could have been done during the day while we were out and about.
I enjoyed my stay at Axiom Hotel. As a solo woman traveler visiting San Francisco for work, I felt safe here. It was comfortable and classy. I liked the cafe inside the hotel. The tables and little workstations in the lobby were nice as well.

No parking garage
Nicely updated hotel in an unbeatable location. Powell St BART/Muni station is just 50 feet from the door, giving quick access anywhere in town or to both airports, and the cable car boarding is right in front. Very comfortable room and bed, very nice bathroom except that I hate the barn door style bathroom door which doesn't really give much privacy.
A great spot for a solo traveler or couple looking for a comfortable, affordable home base while seeing San Francisco’s DT areas. The common areas are nice, and the staff we interacted with were genuine and helpful.
The mono king is small but was nice. Great location but still has some homeless issues. But those are the same for many years. Right at the main cable car stop. We were able to walk most places.
Average service and environment
Nice place, clean room, friendly staff. Lots of street noise but it's San Francisco, what do you expect? I would stay there again.
This was my second time staying and won’t be my last. Walking distance to conventions, safe and clean. Perfect for what I need.
Room was clean and comfortable. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Location was great. Only negative was that the air conditioner did not work. Even in November, it was very warm in room. They provided a free standing fan and we cracked open the windows but it was the middle of the night before it cooled off.
Its a modern renovation of an old hotel property. It works great for me - good cafe, clean, nice showers.
The air conditioning was only one little plug in fan and the room was hot and super small. Other than that it was a nice hotel, clean, staff was friendly and close to a mall, stores, etc.
Decent hotel
Hotel was ok. nice centralized location. Clean and modern. AC didn’t work, stand up fan in room also didn’t work.
Great location and well priced for the location The room was a great size, nicely appointed and fairly recently updated. It had everything we needed. We would stay there again.
Everything you need is just up powell st but dont go very far when you go out the back door. Very dirty and felt unsafe. Room wasnt very clean either
Great
Great location. Quintessential San Francisco architectural hotel. Would stay again.
Great location. Cute robot moving around the lobby, that used elevator on its own to deliver food. Enjoyed Million Thai Restaurant a few blocks away. Great good. Neighborhood is struggling with homeless issues, so we did not go out late at night. Room was very comfortable.
Peace of mind
It was very comfortable and quiet.
Too many fees added by hotels.com
decent location. Not a good value for the cost of the room overall. Once the $200 of taxes and fees (looks like $100 of which were for booking with hotels.com) we’re added it was almost double the advertised. highly rate that I thought I was getting.
Highly recommend staying here! My partner and I stayed for 4 nights to attend Pride and we would definitely stay again in the future. The area was incredibly convenient with the cable car and BART right outside as well as being across the street from the Westfield and in walking distance of a lot of good food. Additionally, with the Pride Parade running down Market Street, this location was absolutely perfect for us. We really appreciated the daily housekeeping and the water and ice stations for the floor, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. If I had to find negatives, it’s that the room we stayed in was a little small and we had a fan instead of AC, however we didn’t need a ton of space and the fan included a timer which suited us just fine. Overall, our stay was lovely and affordable and I will definitely recommend any friends and family to stay here in the future :-)
Nice find in Union Square area
Fantastic hotel in a great location! Convenient access to BART, muni and the cable car. Bed was comfortable. No drawers for clothes if you like to unpack. Housekeeping did not speak English. Filtered water bottle filling station and filtered crushed ice. Front desk people were very helpful. Robot room service.
super clean and amazing stay!
The size of the room was ridiculously small to an extent that I couldnt open my bagage
Great for proximity to Convention Center for business. Cable car right in front so woudl be good for a tourist
Awesome Hotel
Great Hotel Excellent Service Awesome Staff
Great location, secure and comfort
The hotel has a great location to walk to many places or to take the subway or bus at stations that are seconds from it. The rooms are great, comfortable, with mini fridge and good bathroom. Also, they have water stations to fill up bottles.
A really nice, well appointed and ‘funky’ hotel. Facilities were great and all staff were excellent. Lots of black druggies nearby but that not a reflection on the hotel. I’d not hesitate to stay there again.
To catch a trolley, we only had to walk out the front door. The BART station is only a 30-second walk, and if you're into fashion, the fashion district is only a block or two away.
Thanks. Enjoyed the stay
Wonderful stay at such a nice hotel. Definitely would stay again and recommend
They refused to refund the last night which i wanted to cancel at check in. Manager would investigate and call, but never called.
Wonderful short stay
Excellent location close to cable cars and BART network to get to and from airport easily. Comfy room and easy check in and out. Would recommend to friends and family!
I had a bit of a bad experience. I had booked the room over a month ago for 2 nights. Due to my flight delay, I was unable to make it there the first night. I emailed the hotel to let them know that my friends would be checking in without me the first night and I added their names to the email and I received a confirmation email from the hotel. When my friend arrived, they were initially refused the room because they weren’t me. They didn’t back down so eventually they were let into the room.
Loved being so close Academy Of Science, made our weekend trip easy and relax.
Nice small central hotel with friendly staff
The hotel is nicely designed and the rooms are comfortable with many perks - coffee machine, cozy robe, usb outlets. Some of these things may seem small but they really make a difference. My room was vert quiet and i barley heard the noise from the street There are nice cozy corners to chill or work. The cafe they have downstairs has awful coffee so i would go elsewhere for breakfast. The staff was super friendly and helpful, they gave me some great recommendations for good eats and neighborhoods to visit. I really appreciate the high level of service. Something to consider is that downtown SF is not the safest area at night. Many homeless peoples roam the streets surrounding the hotel. I was traveling alone and didn't feel comfortable waking around after it got dark.
Great Hotel! My wife and I will definitely be returning.
Dissapointed
This hotel is conveniently located near the Powell St BART station. However, this is a noisy part of town, and right next to the boarding station of the trolley. The room is appointed nicely, but the reason for my less-than-stellar review is that there is a large portable unit (size of mini-fridge) on the floor in the room that is to supply heat and AC. It has a vent going outside through the window with a cheesy cover. It was worthless at keeping out any street noise. In addition, the machine was so loud that you could not talk on the phone or watch TV when it was on. I was shocked. There is also a $38 nightly "resort" fee which you don't know about till you get there. Bottom line for me - I won't be staying at this hotel again.
Perfect location.
This hotel is in an excellent location. The staff was friendly and accommodating. My husband and I walked to many places as well as Ubered. The room is a little small, but for us it was perfect. The only complaint I have is the cafe/bar inside the hotel. The drinks (3 choices) are extremely pricey for the quality. My husband and I couldn’t even drink ours (Negroni and Aviation). They were terrible. The barista seemed like he had no idea what was going on. $40 for two drinks that were gross, well, sucks. The beds could use an upgrade as well. Astro, the robot butler, AMAZINGGGG! He gets 5 Stars!
Nice and cozy hotel.
Loved it
Perfect! Modern, hip, tech advanced amenities. Perfect location to shopping.
Weekend stay in SF for conference
I chose this hotel for its price, location, and reviews, and it did not disappoint. It is right next to the Powell St. BART and MUNI stations. The fitness center was clean and had a lot of equipment for whatever type of workout you are into. I loved the water stations on every floor so I didn't have to buy bottled water. The room was very cozy, clean, and quiet, and the hotel staff were very nice and helpful. There is a cute cafe on the ground floor, also. I didn't try the food this time, but the coffee was really good. Overall, it was a great hotel and I would definitely stay there again.
Perfect !
Everything was perfect ! The gal that checked us in on Sunday was very helpful.....loved her ! Very clean...would stay again
very spacious and modern rooms, entertainment and tourism is very close by too
Valet parking ONLY ($59 plus tax)
I am surprised I didn’t see this on any other reviews so I want people to be aware that when the listing says “parking available” it really means valet only and it costs $59 plus tax, and is more expensive if you have a larger vehicle. I felt like this listing was misleading as we had a rental car so finding a hotel with parking available was important. Also, this place is tough to spot. We drove around the block three times before I finally called the “customer service” line which is really just a line to making reservations. If there are Amazon or other trucks or vans parked in front, you will easily miss it. It’s not a well lit area either. After calling I was assured there would be someone outside to valet park our car. Circled the block a fourth time, had to park in a no parking zone and wait for someone to come out, which no one ever did. We had to stay at another hotel, which was unfortunate because this place has such high reviews we were looking forward to staying in a boutique hotel.
Excellent location! The hotel is just around the corner to BART and the Metro, which is ideal for getting to the Chase Center. Union Square, Chinatown, the Powell trolly are all within walk distance. The rooms are roomy, and the shower is large.
Everything about this place is worth the stay, staff is super friendly and helpful, the amenities are amazing, location is great but the only not so great part was all the noise from the street, the trash pick up at midnight was so loud that interrupted our sleep multiple times.
Perfect place to stay in proximity to the warfield
Will stay here again !
