Staff was friendly, places a little rundown. Room needed some updating floor significant water damage.
Need renovation
it was very old not upgrade at all, breakfast was very simple the hot water for tea was like swear water(yellow &smell bad)we stay 7 night and everyday was same items for breakfast 4-5 items the staff were good, location was good, but the rooms was terrible, not recommend this hotel,it was too noisy all 24hrs the windows was not sound proof, the A/C was making noise too.at first night we found stain in bed sheets.
There was mold or some other black material all over the bathroom mirrors, the fridge was full of water and wet items, and the A/C sounded like a Boeing, I checked out early because of this and both the hotel and Expedia would not refund me for the day.
It was close to everything and could walk to certain things
Great place amazing view of the city
Good location. Walkable to the beach & restaurants. Nice breakfast options. My only complaint is the cleanliness of the rooms. But we spent most of the days outside anyway.
I was in room 604 the base bed sheet was too small for the bed.The beds both need replacing. There was sand on the floor between the beds which remained there during my entire stay. The wifi reception in my room kept going off.The room requires a complete update.
Filthy and the WiFi didn’t work
I really like this hotel when I first checked in. The front desk had one exceptional staff, but I cannot remember his name. I was thinking to book a second night until I went to lay down in my bed and noticed some blood stains on the sheets. I had two small beds so I went to lay in the other one but it had no fitted sheet to the mattress and I had to keep adjusting it so I don’t lay on the dirty mattress. The sheet that covers the mattress was not big enough to tuck under the mattress so I had a very tough time sleeping. I asked for a later check out at 1 PM, but they denied me and said only unless I bought some thing from the café over a certain price that I can get a late check out at 3 PM. If it wasn’t for my sleep experience, I would’ve liked this hotel
Good place … all good for the money which I paid …
The hotel is pretty run down. There is only one elevator for like 80 guests so it took like 5 minutes every time you wanted an elevator. The stairs led through some dirty cleaning storage area and then to the lobby. The AC was insanely loud in both our rooms and the sound was uneven with spikes so it kept us waking up through the night. The breakfast area was full when we came with nowhere to sit. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
Clean
This property is outdated. The bathroom had broken tile and the faucet kept dripping. The walls were very thin and I could hear the toilet flush from another room. The air conditioning was super loud and rumbled. You could hear the traffic from the street. The gym was outdated and the breakfast was not great. There’s only one elevator for 13 floors so you’re waiting for the elevator for a long time depending on the time of day not to mention the elevator rattled and made strange noises.
helpful and friendly service
Se voce precisa de uma hospedagem barata em copacabana, o hotel pode ser uma boa opção. Os quartos sao limpos e o staff muito gentil, mas o hotel precisa urgentemente de uma reforma
I booked my hotel room and my check in was on 12/26/2023. I arrived at the hotel and checked in with no issue and got my room. After that my cousin came to the hotel to pickup his personal stuff that was at my hotel room and the front desk wanted to charge him just to go up to my room and leave after. I spoke right away to the front desk management and they wanted to charge anyone who is not in the reservation. They asked an additional charge for any person who wants to come to my room even for 1 second. The front desk didn’t allow my cousin to go to my room and take his bag that was at room unless he gives his passport and pay the fee to go to the room. So I asked the front desk that am leaving their hotel because it’s embarrassed me in front of a family member and it will embarrass me with anyone who wants to come to my hotel room. So I checked out. I didn’t stay not even 1 hour. I did not receive any service from the hotel. The process to check-in was longer than me staying at the room. I left the hotel right away with my luggage (checked out) and I asked the front desk to cancel my reservation, they refused and the only thing that I can do is to dispute the booking charge which was $806.32. I asked the hotel to cancel the reservation when I was there and already check in and out. I won’t pay any additional charges or pay to the hotel that money and I didn’t use and stay at their property. That is absolutely ridiculous and an acceptable. Of course I wouldn’t stay i
Convenient location. Restaurant 24/7 2blocks away. supermarket near by. The Hotel staff are very helpful and nice. José check us in on our first day and very accomodating to answer all our questions regarding the place.. where to go and what to do. The Bell boy who welcomed us and open the door was very helpful assisting us with out luggage, I wasnt able to get his name as i was very tired and struggeling holding my bellongings. To that young dude, thanks for your help!!! Ricardo help us in for another day extention with a breeze! The pool at the rooftop is great! The free breakfast is nice. Just be careful at night walking round outside. Don't wear jewelries and leave valuable items safe. This place is 10/10 when it comes to value of your money.
I had a disappointing stay at Hotel Augustus. Despite its convenient location and acceptable breakfast (if you wake up early enough for the omelet), several issues marred my experience. The presence of a roach in my bathroom indicated poor cleaning. The WiFi was virtually useless, disconnecting every minute, and the air conditioning unit, mounted on hastily nailed wooden boards, disrupted my sleep. The beds were extremely uncomfortable, with rock-hard mattresses only covered by a thin sheet. Even after requesting extra blankets, I needed medication to sleep. The bathroom disappointed further with moldy tiles and sticky faucets. Staff provided minimal assistance, notably in printing a final bill for the minibar's exorbitant prices: a few packages of M&Ms and bottles of water cost me $30 USD, as though the snacks were gold and the water was sourced from Mars. Their unhelpfulness extended to providing basic tourist information. The opulent lobby masks the rooms' disappointing reality. Emperor Augustus would be appalled if he knew the level of comfort his namesake hotel offers. I advise against making the same mistake I did; stay elsewhere.
Nice and convenient location
They gave me a handicap room notice without notice.
The hotel is OK. Good location and accessible. It is in desperate need of an upgrade or at least a deep cleaning and a coat of paint, new carpets.
Staff is friendly
Very old, didnt allow guest, had to pay to have a guest, the worst experience l had at a hotel, in my 30 year of travel, the photos on site,at mis leading, do not go to this hotel, your vacation will be the worst
The property is in a terrible condition mosquito everywhere. I can't sleep. The night staff Gleyion charged me additional R105 because someone came to see me.
Great staff and location. Breakfast not great but would definitely stay again
Nice place
I love my stay here wonderful people and place
Very noisy
Very dirty un attended unsafe
Great for the price!
Ótimo
Loved it! The view from on top was beautiful. We loved the pool. Breakfast was delicious. We had a bidet in our bathroom too, but it didn’t work.
Dump
Arguably the worst hotel in Brazil that I have stayed in, and I have stayed in many Brazilian hotels.
I like the service from the luggage carrier very friendly . However, the staff from the restaurant wasn't polite and management was terrible . Manager was very rude to me. There was a mixed up at the check out from the original booking . Manager mande me pay for half day stay because I was late due to resolving the room issue and past the check out time. I asked him to consider the mistake situation with booking. He yelled at me saying he will have to pay 100 if I didn't pay the extra fee. I was choked with the lack of respect and impolite treatment. I said I only expected courtesy since the room had a lot of defect amenities such as hot shower without cold water . Broken tv Remote control. Air conditioning not working properly. I was offered to change rooms only the next day. My experience was very unpleasant because of bad manager and bad management. Not treated fairly and been disrespected. Manager Does not belong in hotel business with costumer service
Staff is okay. Need renovation
Not visitor friendly.
The hotel Augusto wouldn't even let my old aunt of 76 years who doesnt speak Portuguese and a first timer visiting Rio de Janeiro go with me to my room to pick up a few beach items and was strictly directed and asked to stay in the lobby
Stayed here during the busy New Year period. The hotel is fine, it just hasn’t been updated in about 20 years. But apart from that, everything is good. Great location, short walk down a busy street to the beach. There is also a supermarket very nearby and the metro. There are great views from the roof, over Copacobana to Sugarloaf Mountain. If you’re on a budget and want to stay somewhere central then this is a good option!
Overall i wad quite pleased
Limpeza ruim do quarto
Near the beach and to the subway!
Very good location. two blocs from the beach and one bloc to the subway station. The property needs some renovation..
It was good stay
Very Nice Hotel Close To The Beach
I loved that it was close to the beach..2 minute walk...1 minute from 24 hour grocery store.
Prezados, Minha recepção foi maravilhosa! Mas o único problema foi o ar condicionado muito barulhento e a água que caia de cima batia e fazia um barulho muito desconfortável a noiteee toda! 😆 O restante foi ótimo! O staff super friendly!!!

This property is poor condition. You can get a Oceanview room at the 40 story Hilton for just $7.00 (US Dollars) more per night!
wo night stay
Location was good. A few blocks from beach. It’s a older hotel. Needs to be updated. It was ok. Nothing special.
I love the location of the hotel and the friendly service
generally fine
Friendly and professional service by all staff members. Good location - 5 minutes to beach and 5 minutes to Metro station. Breakfast buffet is bery good!
The location was great, close to shops, restraurant etc etc. Hotel is very nice, clean and great helpful staff. Five minute walk to the beach, beach towels supplied by the Hotel. This Hotel has horrible Wi-fi, horrible wi-fi in your room, horrible wi-fi in the dinning room. Considering the size of hotel i am very disappointed with how poor the wi-fi strength was in this hotel. Breakfast was good but needs improvement. More selection.
Great location and service
Great service and location. Very helpful and friendly staff
Copa top
Nice location and people very friendly
Good location.great staff.good breakfast .I was very happy.recommended
Best location for beach, restaurants and shopping
Large comfortable and very clean rooms.
Decent value for the price, proximity to the beach helpful and friendly front desk
This hotel is located in a great local neighborhood a few blocks from the beach. Surrounded by local restaurants, bars, and only a block to the metro. The staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome, and the included breakfast was nice. The rooftop pool has amazing views of the city.
So close to the beach. Great that breakfast is included and they have a gym to work out in. Staff were always helpful and recommended tours to take.
Very nice hotel close to Copacabana beach in a very nice road full of bars and restaurant, polite staff clean room nice breakfast
Price was good. only three blocks from beach area. Rooms were fair and beds were hard. But all in all it was a pleasant experience.
Nice stay. Air condition is out dated. It turns to low cool and could hardly function when turned on for a while. Forgot to notify manager.
I
I
no good
towels were not changed heavy cigarette smell air conditioned with a lot of noise
Affordable nice hotel just two blocks from beautiful Copacabana beach, with good restaurants and bars around.Friendly staff, good selection for breakfast, with gym, sauna, jacuzzi, and a small swiming pool on the top looking at the Sugar Loaf Mountain and a piece of the beach.
Rio de Janeiro during Winter
The location, right at the most beautiful beach in the world was fabulous. We arrived in Rio de Janeiro during winter time in a raining night, but the friendly staff at Augustos made us feel welcome. The room had a small balcony looking at the Sugar Loaf Mountain. It was clean and comfortable since we were planning to be out everyday. The breakfast had a good variety, with fresh juices, coffeee and tea, eggs, cheeses, sausage, fruits, breads, and sweets. The gym is small but workable. Sauna is ok. The swimming pool is bathtub size, same with jacuzzy, but the view from the top is amazing. The hotel us just 2 blicks from the beach, with many retaurants and bars around. The subway is around the corner. I was a little concerned to go to Rio because if the violence going on in the city but we felt safe to walk anytime around the hotel. We used the subway to visit downtown and took the ferry to get to Niteroi, without incidents. Our flight was in the afternoon and we didn't have any problem for the hotel to extend our checkout, my sister and I really appreciated their gesture. The hotel is better than what the photos show in the internet. im already planning to go back to Rio in 2 years and use the same hotel. At the dame time since the climate was so nice to explore the city than during Summer as i had previously done.
The hotel was convenient, clean and safe The staff was excellent A special thank you to Paulo,in the front He was helpful and engaging
It's just two blocks from beautiful Copacabana beach. The hotel staff are very friendly, always ready to help. When we arrived at the room and saw that the beds didn't have a cover sheet, just a comforter, I called reception and in a few minutes had the sheets. Same thing happened when I could not make the hairblower work. It was good to have a sauna and a gym. Although the swimming pool is stamp sized and was raining most of the week because we went during winter season, it was worth to seat by it because if the beautiful views of the city and the beach, as well of the sugar loaf mountain. The breakfast have a good variety, but you need to arrive early because they are slow in replacing the food. I didn't like the eggs because they were not well cooked. Our flight was in middle afternoon so we asked to have a later checkout to Wich the hotel agreed. We will definitely stay at Augustos next time.
good and comfortable location
The hotel is in a great location of copa. Plenty of bars, restaurants, shopping and money exchanges. Only a few blocks from the beach and the markets. The rooms are a decent size good bed and tv, with a big bathroom. Good cupboard and draw spaces with plenty of room to put your belongings. Toiletries are provided every day and clean towels. No problems there getting the full compliment. Good bed which always help. Downside is the aircon is old box and the hotel is a little dated. As well as the elevators are very slow. But i would stay again no problems.
Well suited to families
I had a very pleasant stay in this hotel for 5 night's in early July.I found it both affordable and comfortable. The staff were great they were very helpful with directions /advice. The hotels location was excellent, safe and within easy walking distance of ipenema and Copacabana beach .plenty of restaurants, laundromats/shops etc. Breakfast was also great
Took the bus and metro from the airport to easily find our hotel. Nice folks running the hotel too. The breakfast was very good and allowed us to meet other guests in the hotel as we were there during the Para Olympics. Very interesting. Would stay again at Agusto's.
Very nice place
Had a great experience, very romantic place, being with my future fiancée
I loved Augusto's Copacabana - Would stay again
I loved the hotel, the daily breakfast buffet was awesome, staff was nice and friendly, even let me use their phone charger when I needed one since I left mine at a friend's hotel down the street. The location was awesome. I would love to stay again and again.
Shopping, food, metro and beach
The hotel is nice, the room was clean and breakfast was offered daily. Breakfast was almost the same daily but it was nice to have. Everything you need to get around is at walking distance and the location is convenient. There is a small workout room and it is limited. The staff were helpful and accommodating. The wifi in the room was terrible and kept disconnecting on my devices. The beach, metro, food and stores are within walking distance. You can also get to Ipanema within 15 mins on foot!
Great place great base.
Great hotel with friendly helpful staff and breakfast buffet to stoke up. Metro is just around the corner. The only suggestion we'd make is to increase size of the breakfast room as it's was a bit cramped.
Hotel that perfectly suited my budget and needs
I'm very happy to recommend this Hotel. I have just returned from two weeks at the Hotel to support athletes competing at the Paralympics. I picked the Hotel almost at random because of it's position near Copacabana beach and very near a Metro station. Was very happy with my choice. Staff very professional, friendly and helpful. Restaurant food good and moderately priced. Bed comfortable. Key thing, the (minor) problems I had were all fixed quickly with no fuss.Great bar Belmonte just down the road. I would definitely go there again. I barely speak a word of Portuguese but that was not a problem.
Lovely hotel perfect location and great pool
Lovely stay in this hotel with an amazing breakfast, perfect location and amazing balcony views of Rio
a long waok from copabacana beach.
area quite convenience but seems not so safe walking at night. dont trust the swimming pool facilities, it is only double size of your bath tub. wifi too slow.
Nice hotel! Reasonable price! Beach location!
Check was good! Arrived at 8:30am and room was available! Great location a block over from the Beach! Good restaurants in area! Friendly staff! A few English speakers! Bed in room a little small but great working AC!! Shower water pressure good! I'd stay again! Especially for the price! Booked the night before arrival! Breakfast could have been better.
Close to the beach, great staff, breakfast is ok.
3 nights day, no complains, location is great. Close to the Metro, and you can go almost everywhere by metro.
Noisy, but really a great hotel.
My room faced the street and was *very* noisy with cars beeping and just general road noise. I would recommend to management to install thicker glass doors (these were quite thin) and use thick heavy fabric drapes, rather than the thin curtains they have now. The air conditioner is also about 20 years old and is a) very noisy and b) very dirty - i had to take the filter to reception to get it cleaned. Even so, after the first night I did not use the air conditioner again because it is full of dust and made my throat sore. However, the staff really saved the hotel for me, everyone was very high quality and spoke english, very knowledgeable about local area and able to recommend good tours et cetera et cetera. I would recommend earplugs but i'd give the hotel a solid 4 stars.
Great Hotel very friendly helpful staff
Great trip and fantastic helpful hotel staff. Andrea on reception is a credit to the hotel. As are the front reception, restuarant staff and maids. Loved first visit in November 2015 was back in Rio Feb 2016 and chose same hotel for closeness to beach and restaurants and hotel staff who were always so helpful.
It was ok. SWimming Pool small. Hotel need To be renewed. Breakfast ok. Great location. Rooms aré nice. Bathrooms need To be renewed. Very clóse To storeS, bars, restaurantes and Beach. The staff is very kind
Great hotel close to copacabana and Ipanema beach
we arrived at the hotel at 11pm and the bell boy and reception were ready for us. A very smooth check in. The free wi-fi was a bonus. The breakfast was also very good. The air con units are old and noisy but did not stop us from sleeping.
Great hotel. Great staff. Totally great!
What a great hotel! Great value for money. Excellent staff. Comfortable room. Great location. One of the best 3 star hotels I've ever stayed at.
Construction and wi-fi conection terrible
Room was okay, very simple but okay. On the other hand the wi-fi connection was terrible and very slow. We had to go to the bathroom to have bellow average speed. I have stayed in other hotels in Rio before and never saw such terrible conection. Staff did not know what to do to improve. Moreover, they had remodeling work starting at 8:00 am and did not tell us in advance. Worst the front desk did not know. I had to call and ask them to do something… I would not recommend this hotel at all.
Good hotel in excellent location
Great stay in Augustos. Location is excellent. Room is nice and cleaned every day. Breakfast is lovely great selection to choice from. Stayed here for a week with my partner and felt really comfortable. Only bad thing is the AC is very noisy but everything was excellent
rio
Breakfast included was average, price was very high, triple the normal rate since it was carnival. Hotel staff gave bad information to me twice regarding transportation, but they were very polite.
Great Vaca
My stay at the hotel was awesome. My only issue with the hotel was that I would have liked the floors to have swept a little better. I don't like walking through my hotel room and needing to wipe my feet after a few steps. I know being by the beach, had a lot to do with it but still... But the service was spectacular. The staff was always helpful, and not being able to speak the language, there was always a staff member at hand that was at least bilingual. This hotel was fabulous!!! I would not only recommend but plan on staying again, if ever back in Brazil.
Good location and price-- bad service
The hotel had a good location fo the price-- the Zona Sul of Rio is pretty expensive. Facilities were pretty good, but services was bad. I found the desk staff quite rude. The breakfast was ok, but every morning it was like they had never done it before or they were completely understaffed---line of people waiting for clean plates, clean glasses and for someone to clean off a table to sit at. The doorman/bell staff were great!
All excellent - except overlooks a building site
All excellent except half the rooms overlook a building site so if you want to experience Rio's nightlife mid-week, expect an 8am 'alarm' the next day!!!!!!!!!
Excellent stay during the 2014 World Cup
I booked this hotel based on recent reviews and I was not disappointed at all! The staff were super friendly and were fluent in English and Spanish, which helped a lot since I only knew basic Portuguese. The room was much bigger than I expected, and location was super convenient: Couple blocks away from the subway station (to go to Maracana on match day) and Copacabana beach.
Great Location, close to Copacabana
This hotel has great location, easy walking distance to Copacabana, 1 minute walk to metro station, great connection to the rest of Rio, you do not need a taxi, few stores around, 15 minute walk to Ipanema as well
Much better than what I expected
Since walking in the staff was very courteous and very knowledgeable. Displayed a lot of patience since I could not speak Portuguese. The room was great and very comfortable and displayed a modern décor. Hotel is located in a safe place and four blocks away from Copacabana Beach and close to the Metro and bus systems. When the opportunity arrives I will definitely book in this hotel.
Great location, service
I really enjoyed it here. It's not fancy, and it looks a bit dated, but the facilities were clean and the staff was very nice and accommodating. Having breakfast included was also a plus, and the buffet was ample.
Clean, tight, ac need upgrade
Good location, attentive staff, ac cannot cope in summer
Next to Copacabana Beach best beach
The staff at the reception speak English fluently and the rooms are clean. However, the can do better with their breakfast.
Clean and friendly hotel a short walk from beach
Our experience of this hotel during Rio Carnival 2014 was great. The hotel staff were very friendly and tried to cater to our needs at all times. Helpful with information and organising day trips for us. Even letting us store our baggage days later after we had checked out before our flights. It is more of a classic hotel which in its day would have been cutting edge. Still very nice but don't expect brand new amenities. It was clean and comfortable and a short walk from the local transport and Copacabana beach. Based on this I would recommend this as a nice cheap place to stay near the beach.
Very good location, nice staff and clean rooms
I travelled to Rio in Feb 2014 and stayed at this hotel for 12 days, very much enjoyed my stay in this hotel, its very safe, clean and it has warm staff. If you can, exchange your local currency to Reals at your own country. You get a better rate! Overall, Rio is a paradise!
DO NOT STAY AT THIS OVERPRICED, BAD BUSINESS DUMP
My husband and I arrived to the cleaning cart parked in front of our room door, cleaning supplies and vacuum strewn all around it. It took the staff many hours to move it away. The situation inside the room was not much better. The sheets and blankets are probably from the 70s. That was probably also the last time the hotel saw a renovation. We walked down the street towards the beach and saw another hotel, Vilamar, that looked nice. It WAS much nicer and, incredibly, CHEAPER. We cancelled the remainder of our stay at Augusto's and moved to Vilamar the next day. Nearly a month later, I am still waiting for the refund on my Amex, despite Augusto's many assurances. I had to initiate a charge dispute with Amex today. In case it is not clear yet, this hotel is BAD NEWS all around, and Expedia should stop advertising them on their page.

Good location, nice hotel with rooftop pool
