Great spot for views.
This was the best overall place we stayed during our two months in New Zealand. Each room has a separate section of a huge balcony with stunning views, comfortable patio furniture. The room was large, comfortable, with large picture windows. The bathroom was large and modern with a great shower. Breakfast was delicious with a number of options to choose from and the hosts were terrific, friendly, knowledgeable about the area.
Best B & B we have ever stayed at!
Atea Lodge was amazing! The fabulous views were right outside our doors, and Lyn and Kelvin are wonderful hosts. Do yourself a big favor and have Lyn make you pizza with fresh from the garden veggies… absolutely the best pizza in New Zealand! We loved Atea so much that we extended our stay!
Perfect.
Outstanding property and views, fantastic hosts. Would not consider staying anywhere else in Corumandel.
We have stayed in 5 different hotels / properties during our current stay in New Zealand. The Atea Lodge is the finest accommodation by far! Our only regret was staying only 2 nights, next trip to NZ we will stay here a week.
Gorgeous 5-star B&B lodge. Not to be missed!
One word describes Atea Lodge—WOW! This is a gorgeous accommodation with stunning views, beautiful, spacious rooms, very comfortable beds and a perfect location up on the mountain above Coromandel Town. The hosts have done an amazing job to create a 5-star experience. Breakfast was delicious, more than ample serving sizes and 5 options to choose from. This should be number One on the list when looking in Coromandel. Will definitely stay there again.
The view was sooo beautiful. Amazing sunsets. Loved the rec room and the outfoor tub! Breakfast was so delicious and the hosts were very good
Everything about Atea Lodge is gorgeous and that is due to the work of Lynn and Kelvin-the two owners. They have created a beautiful property that makes the most of stunning views and location. It's comfortable and the breakfasts are delicious. We loved our stay and will be back.
The property was fantastic. Lynn and Kelvin are wonderful hosts. The room was impeccable with a super comfortable bed, nice linens and great amenities (including the ensuite). The wrap around deck was incredible with amazing views. The guest lodge was also incredible and a great place to unwind. The breakfasts were superb and a highlight of our stay. Without a doubt, one of the nicest lodges in New Zealand. Is "the" place to stay in Coromandel.
Wonderful place to stay! Property maintained beautifully, clean, peaceful, and lovely hosts.
Scenic Views!
A lovely place owned by lovely caring people.
Perfect peaceful hide away. . . out side bath was amazing
This stay was the standout of our trip, the location, the views, but most of all the hosts were absolutely amazing with a free meal when we got there, breakfast in the morning & and the other special touches they thought of. This place has to be experienced, I will return.
Tree line lodge get away
Exquisite facilities, food, and setting. Lodge with panoramic scenic views amongst tree tops hearing Tuis and seeing raptor birds. Flexing hosts to specific needs.
Absolutely lovely
We stayed 1 night and wished it were at least 3. We arrived in the evening very tired from our day of adventures on a tour with no car. The hosts offered to drive us into town for a takeaway but we were ready to just sit and enjoy the view. Instead we were offered some wine, to which they added some cheese, meats and fruit and suddenly we had out very own charcuterie board dinner. We ate on the deck and watched the sun go own. The bed was very comfortable and we enjoyed the large shower. Breakfast was taken on the deck in the morning also with made to order eggs benedict, french toast and fresh fruit. Next visit we will rent a car and stay longer.
Best stay in NZ
What a beautiful spot. The room was excellent, as was the welcome. Great breakfast, comfortable bed. What more could you want. Well, in the case of Atea Lodgei it also provides a veranda with views to die for.
Friendly, helpful and delightful hosts. The sunset view from the wide comfortable veranda was spectacular. One of the best places to stay in NZ.

Stayed three nights at Atea lodge. Wish we had booked a longer stay. Beautiful property with views to die for from the expansive balcony. Rooms meticulously clean and well appointed. Kelvin and Lynne were the most welcoming hosts and helpful with recommendations for attractions and dining options etc in the area. After days out exploring the surrounding district, loved returning to the lodge to soak in the views from that balcony over a wine or two. Breakfasts were excellent and set us up for the days activities. Would stay there again in a heartbeat. Highly recommended. A highlight of our road trip around the North island.
