Chilled, quiet and very laid back

I loved it here, my second time as a solo traveller, I felt safe at all times. Everyone was so friendly and helpful, a few minutes walk to good restaurants, great coffee place, atm and shops. Everything you need for a relaxing time, I would recommend.

went diving in Koh Tao, Thailand through Assava Dive Resort. Beautiful accommodations and right off the ocean. Felt like paradise. I signed up for my open-water scuba diving PADI course with Steven Crane. An amazing teacher and explained everything. He removed the fear and hesitation I had about diving. I felt completely safe under his hands and he was with me for every dive. I loved it so much that I signed up for the advanced PADI open water course, and did ten dives with Steve. Brilliant experience and profound when I swam with a whale shark.

Great spot with friendly staff.

We are a mom-daughter duo from the US. A great stay. The bungalows are older but clean. Bed very comfortable and AC works very well (this is important due to the heat). Restaurant serves delicious food (all meals) as well as great views. The dive shop on site is super convenient with a lot of great excursion offerings. We look forward to coming back to Assava again for future diving classes and programs. The hotel offers free shuttle to and from the pier as well as motor bike rentals. The resort is also walking distance to the beautiful Shark Bay where snorkeling was absolutely fantastic (sea turtles!!) Staff friendly and kind.

Beachfront resort with spacious, comfortable rooms. The food at its restaurant is excellent, and there are several other good options nearby. A highlight is the area with view to the bay, where I used to eat and relax in the evenings. The swimming pool is also nice, albeit sometimes shared with diving classes.

Deluxe garden twin

Room was very comfortable, AC worked well, wifi was good. Restaurant food was ok, I enjoyed the restaurants down the street better. There's a 7-11 and a pharmacy down the road along with 2 ATMs. Lots of restaurants in the street. I stayed 8 nights and went diving 6 days. Great instructors and divemasters. Located in a quieter area compared to Sai Ri Beach and I much prefer it. Diving was in small groups (3-18 people?) as opposed to crazy large groups (looked like 30-50 people?) at Sai Ri Beach. I liked the personable atmosphere where you get to know everyone you are diving with and you also get to know your divemasters. I would definitely go back.

This was one of our favourite stays while in Thailand for 3 weeks. We stayed in quaint, rustic bungalows. Very picturesque setting, located in beautiful bay. Great little restaurant & bar on site has great food and drink, very reasonable but if you want something else there are places within walking distance. We did intro dive with the resort dive operation - a superb experience - well worth considering if you are staying there. You don't have to be a diver to enjoy this resort. Staff is great. If time was our own we would have extended our stay. Highly recommend for people who don't make a habit of looking for where to assign demerit points - its not perfect but it is beautiful.

Average

The main focus here is diving. Not food, drink or the rooms. We stayed at probably the best chalet (by the beach) and it was small, basic and the a/c couldn't keep up with the modest heat. We had to pay for an upgrade as the "delux" chalet was a cupboard. Unfortunately, if you stay at a dive resort, they're nearly all like this

Had a lovely stay at this resort in a beachside deluxe bungalow which was beautiful, right next to the sea. Area is quiet as I wanted but plenty of restaurants and bars nearby. My only complaint would be that you only get to choose one thing off the breakfast menu, meaning you can’t have fruit and egg or egg and toast with jam, I have been travelling for nearly a month now and this is the only time I have found this.

Nice location. Good Dive facilities and personnel. Hotel Service was not quite as friendly by Thai standards. Rooms were adequate for the price.

Very peaceful and quiet. Couldn't swim in bay due to very very shallow water.

Just a few steps away from the beach

Very attentive staff checking in and helpful at diving centre. Restaurant food was good, reasonably priced and staff were eager to serve it right. Very nice little bay with diving resorts and snorkeling close by. My only complaint is the bed was hard as rock, like sleeping on boards, no sheets and ran out of toilet paper pretty quickly. I didn’t bother to ask for more, just used the box of tissues. I did find prices for same room varied between booking companies so work shopping around. Overall a good stay, I would easily stay there again.

Alomejor esperaba más por las fotos del lugar. El cuarto tipo cabaña independiente muy bien, cuarto amplio y fresco, cama confortable y ducha con buena presión pero moja todo el baño. Tiene entrada al mar pero no es una buena elección playa, del tiempo q estuvimos ahí nadie se metió al mar, optamos por irnos a tatooh beach q está cerca. El staff te resuelve pero sientes como q estás molestando, no hay la típica sonrisa tailandesa. El último día no nos querían dar el desayuno q estaba incluido hasta q fui a recepción a reclamar. No regresaría, invertiría un poco más para un lugar con mejor playa, pero tampoco fue mala la estadía.

Lovely place, perfect for when taking ypur diving courses. A bit displacing with the info about the beach, theres basicslly no possibility to swim at the beach. Otherwise lovely place, perfect symbiosis with the diving courses

I am a returning guest (2017 we stayed there already and were quite satisfied) and it has even improved since then. Right now they are building new seminar rooms for diving courses which will be finished soon.

La struttura è fantastica, siamo stato davvero bene soprattutto all’esterno, molta tranquillità e relax. Il personale è un po’ distratto, al check in sono stati molto frettolosi ed invece per la colazione attese lunghissime immotivate

Thanks to Chas, Rod, Viola and all the rest of the diving masters and staff at the Assava. Patient, knowledgeable and great guides. Did a refresher and my son got the Open water. Couldn't have been better. Nice and quiet area. Just one thing. Have more trashcans close to the beach. Makes it easier to pick up garbage from the beach.

Très bel endroit. Chambre très propre et confortable. J’ai adoré j’y reviendrai. Néanmoins la nourriture du restaurant est moyenne.

Très agréable hôtel en bord de mer

Hôtel très calme malgré une fréquentation très jeune (cours de plongée sous-marine) et très bonne organisation pour les navettes arrivée et départ. Personnel très agréable et sympathique.

Underbara dykupplevelser

Trivsam anläggning där superierrum är ett lite missvisande namn för de små och spartanska husen. Men tillbringar ju inte så mycket tid på rummet i Thailand... Sista kvällen hade ön ett strömavbrott och vår ac gick efter det inte att starta. De tel nr som fanns att ringa har bara öppet kontorstid så fick ingen möjlighet att byta rum, vilket gjorde natten svettig och sömnlös. AC och bristande nåbarhet påpekas vid utcheckning, men tas emot med en axelryckning... Kanske en utbildning i att man säljer "en god natts sömn" på ett hotell är på sin plats!? Teamet runt dykcentrat är, till skillnad från kollegorna på kontotet, superproffs på kundbemötande och håller säkerheten högt! Benny, vår Divemaster tog otroligt väl hand om oss och vi fick många helt fantastiskt fina dykupplevelser som gav mersmak! Vi kommer gärna tillbaks och dyker med er!

Bungalows sind ok, hatten aber für den Preis schon deutlich schönere.

Les pieds dans l'eau. Très jolis bungalows tout confort (peignoirs, chaussons, serviettes de plage fournis), personnel attentif' agréable et efficace, très bon petit déjeuner servi en bord de plage, bien localisé proche commerces et restaurants, petite piscine très propre et profonde, navette gratuite pour l'embarcadère. Parfait.

Die Unterkunft war wirklich sehr schön und wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt.

Everything was nice and welcoming. The propriety is very comfy and the view is wonderful. For the price you just can't expect to find a better place. The little thing is that one of the room i book had only a fan and ni fridge. As the weather is super hot we didn't spent a cool night. Beside if you ask for a room with air conditionner you will probably get one, and also the restaurant is delicious. The pool is clean and there is an ecofriendly struggle in this resort, so you're hire in the action of being Green. I recommend a 100% Assava

Als aller erstes muss man sagen, dass die Anlage super schön ist und die Lage einfach top. Auch die aller meisten Mitarbeiter waren sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Leider so nicht in der Chefetage. Wir hatten eine Beschwerde, da wir ein Zimmer mit Klima und Kühlschrank gebucht hatten und keins bekommen haben. Es stellte sich raus das der Fehler wohl bei Hotels.com lag. Man gab zu das das Zimmer dort mit falschen Details aufgeführt ist. Anstatt sich aber zu entschuldigen wurde nur auf Hotels.com verwiesen. Erst nach dem sich die Chefin der ansässigen Tauchschule einmischte bekamme wir ein neues Zimmer. Wobei das ganze Hotel während unseres gesamten Urlaubs fast komplett leer war. Es hieß das es alle zwei Tage eine Zimmerreinigung gibt. Diese kam nicht, obwohl die Mitarbeiter Vorort waren. Man musste öfter nach fragen so dass wir innerhalb von einer Woche grade mal eimal Reinigungen, Mülleimer leere ect hatten. Hieran besonders unglücklich das man immer nur eine Rolle wc Papier bekommen hat. Sprich man durfte alle zwei Tage an die Rezeption vor laufen und sich neues holen.

Assava er et fint sted beliggende ned til vandet, hvor jeg brugte 6 dage. Fine hytter med aircondition, køleskab, tv, wifi (når det virker), hårtørrer og der bliver stillet frisk vand hver dag udenfor din dør. Der er fint og velholdt og rigtig sødt personale.

Probably good for diving!

It's supposed to be really good if you're going to dive! But we weren't. The bed wasn't the most comfortable, but we managed. The hotel is very out of the way but you can easily get around if you rent a scooter. The beach wasn't nice at all with a layer of filth above the sand bottom.

Ist das Geld absolut nicht wert!

Wir buchten den Deluxe Beachfront Bungalow. Der Name ist sehr irreführend-weder Beachfront (wir hatten den 2.Bungalow mit seitlichem Meerblick) noch Deluxe. Es handelt sich um ein kleines Zimmer mit sehr wenig Platz zum Sachen abstellen. Das Bad war ein Witz! Das Wasser im Waschbecken lief nicht ab und wir hatten abends noch immer das Wasser vom Zähneputzen morgens im Becken-ekelhaft (und ist der Reinigungsfrau wohl nicht aufgefallen). Die Spülung des WC war defekt und ohne Funktion. Da mein Mann Klempner ist hat er es selbst repariert. Der Duschstrahl war so gut wie nicht vorhanden. Man brauchte Ewigkeiten,bis man fertig war. Das Bad wurde nicht gereinigt, Duschspuren waren später noch sichtbar. Frühstück war schlecht, unterster Thailand-Standard. Mülleimer im Zimmer wurden nicht geleert (im Bad mit dem benutzten Toilettenpapier)-auch nach Bescheid sagen nicht. Im Bad hängt ein Zettel mit der Information dass Koh Tao Wasserknappheit hat und man sparen soll-hingegen wurde das Gelände den ganzen Tag über gewässert. Das Meer ist sehr trüb und nur bedingt zum Baden geeignet. Da die Anlage sonst keinen Pool hat kann man sich nur im klimatisierten Bungalow erfrischen. Wir waren schlichtweg enttäuscht und können die positiven Bewertungen nicht nachvollziehen-Deluxe ist dies nicht und einfach total überteuert. Wir reisten einen Tag früher als geplant ab. Einzig positiv: kostenloser Transfer vom und zum Hafen. Wir können es nicht empfehlen! Schlechteste Unterkunft die wir hatten.
