Really nice place to stay close to everything. Safe and clean. Lovely restaurant below.
Highly Recommended!
The stay was excellent, with a view of Alcatraz from the window and excellent service.
I love the close proximity to Fisherman’s Wharf and the many restaurant options.
Great hotel, but don’t pay extra for the City View. It isn’t as advertised. The building is not tall enough to provide views of downtown San Francisco. All we got was a view of the neighboring restaurant
The Argonaut has seen better days.
We first visited the Argonaut about 20 years ago and liked the hotel. Unfortunately it hasn’t changed much at all since then and looks tired and in need of modernisation. The staff are friendly and welcoming and the food good. However it’s hard to ignore the dated accommodation and lack of the finer details that many other Hotels have.
Parking was extravagantly expensive.
I think they need laundry bags in the rooms
Loved the beautiful and charming atmosphere, along with the daily food and beverage credit :)
Friendly staff, in proximity of attractions, food was excellent at Mermaid restaurant, clean room.
Friendly staff
A really friendly welcome from Isaac on reception on our arrival got the holiday off to a great start. The room was large and very comfortable. All the staff were friendly particularly the guys at the front door. We ate in the Blue Mermaid restaurant which had a wide choice of food and drinks and had great atmosphere. Location was great close to Cable cars, Blazing Saddles bike rental and only ten minute walk from Alcatraz tour boat. All in all an excellent hotel for a short tourist stay in San Francisco.
Excellent location, staff and amenities. Will stay here again!
Excellent property! Can’t wait to stay again
Great hotel at San Francisco prices. Our friends and we enjoyed our rooms on the top (fourth) floor. We traveled via the SFO airport, BART, and Lyft / Waymo / cable car. If you use the cable car, go to the Beach and Hyde terminus. Our room needed new batteries in the heating / AC controller and they replaced batteries quickly. Remember to press the Privacy button when leaving your room unless you want housekeeping. Suggestion: consider a second folding luggage rack so that both people can store their luggage
We had a great stay at this hotel. It was close to all of the fisherman‘s wharf attractions, and lots of great restaurants were nearby. The hotel itself is very clean and modern. Early check-in was available for us which was an added bonus. We would definitely stay here again!
Convenient location. Friendly staff, and comfortable rooms.
Property is a little confused and ran down around the edges, same as fisherman’s wharf in general. Room was large, bathroom old. Definitely not a 4/5 star hotel. 3 star at best.
Loved our stay here, clean, modern, a safe spot in the Wharf
We had an amazing stay here.
The pillows were super flat and terrible. Other than that we enjoyed our visit.
What a joke of a hotel. Splashy lobby, sure, but who did the room deco? For these prices? Overall you can do just as well with a Super 8, maybe the S8 is better....
We flew in early and they allowed us to check in right upon arrival which was a few hrs prior to normal check-in.
.
Love this hotel!
Always an amazing stay
Wonderful hotel, convenient location
Everything was excellent except the down pillows were not comfortable
This was on the quiet end of Fisherman’s Wharf, but we booked so we could have a rollaway bed. The hotel would not accommodate. It was noisy here and expensive.
Very good customer service. Very clean . Very attentive staff
Convenient to fisherman's wharf, Alcatraz cruise, Lombard St.
Clean and well maintained property.

It was the perfect stay!
Awesome location in Fisherman’s Whatf, many top-notch restaurant options within 5 min. walking distance. Cleanliness, service and comfort were all in full force -can’t wait to come back!
My recent stay at the Argonaut Hotel in San Francisco was a memorable experience worth highlighting. From check-in to check-out, the service and amenities exceeded expectations. The room was spotless, quiet, and well-appointed, and I was especially impressed that the hotel maintained a fresh, odor-free environment despite being pet-friendly. It made me wish I had brought my dog instead of boarding her! Customer service was a standout. After noticing unexpected charges on my bill at checkout, I contacted the front desk, and Angel Palacios, the Front Desk Supervisor, promptly resolved the issue. Not only was the error corrected and refunded, but the hotel also waived the daily guest amenity fees as a goodwill gesture. This exceptional service turned a potential issue into a positive experience. Kudos also to the Blue Mermaid restaurant staff, who kindly provided dining utensils when I forgot to bring my own. Their helpfulness and attention to detail truly enhanced my stay. For improvements, I’d suggest offering complimentary refreshments in the lobby or waiting area and adding bidets to the bathrooms—small touches that would elevate the guest experience. Overall, the Argonaut Hotel left a lasting impression with its cleanliness, pet-friendly charm, and top-notch hospitality. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting San Francisco—it’s a true gem in the city!
The hotel was great, right by everything you want to see in SF, however, the service in the restaurant was not great.
It meant all of our expectations. Definitely coming back.
It’s right on the wharf. Close to Aquatic Park and Ghirardelli Square. My room was excellent. Beds super comfy I hope when the area is restored and more police around it will be more vibrant and safe
This is a beautiful property and you can easily walk to so many sites, attractions and stores. The staff was so helpful and kind, the property is very well maintained and feels very safe.
Good location, solid dining choices and access to a variety of neighborhoods via trolly
Quiet hotel but limited options other than Pier 39
Excellent service, very accommodating and super friendly staff!
The mini fridge stopped working. I brought it to their attention, but nothing changed.
Bathrooms could use some TLC: towels hangers to start, etc.
Loved it!!!
The room was nice although the noise from the A/C unit was noticeable all night. The hallway to my room was dirty and dilapidated and had a faint smell.
Not much of a view from the room. It overlooked a courtyard that had a late nite saxophone player practicing. Meals were pricey. Overall ambiance was great.
Great spot close to all the shops and tours gor Fisherman's Wharf. We had a "courtyard view" room - which was a view of the neighboring rooms, but great spot, nice little restaurant/bar attached (we just had drinks, so can't comment on the food).
This hotel is a must have for all lovers of pier 39. Clean rooms, friendly staff, and a breathtaking ocean view really helped make our vacation a 10!
Fine hotel but not 4 star. They nickel and dime you and are odd about the morning coffee service.
Some cleanliness issues in the room

Ok but the price I paid I would be better
We liked the location on the warf. It is right by a trolley station. We had reserved a garden view but instead had a partial street level view. The property itself was clean and the staff was nice.
Location was great right on fisherman’s wharf basically. Food in restaurant was excellent we just found everything very pricey with the exchange rate.
Great location
Loved this location. Thx
Excellent location to stay in San Francisco…located next to trolley turnaround and Ghirardelli. Two blocks from fisherman’s wharf. The room was excellent very spacious with a great view of the San Francisco Bay.
Excellent views and location Excellent rooms
Location was perfect. Staff was awesome. Super clean. Really awesome place. The only thing i didnt like was the bed but thats subjective.
The front desk was so helpful and very helpful.
Excellent location. Excellent restaurant. Helpful staff.
Great location, really friendly and helpful staff. Definitely recommend
Beautiful property. There is a 35.00 nightly fee, and parking is about 50.00 nightly.
I was there for brief stay but directions for UBER pickup on both occasions were confusing. In once instance I had to walk behind the hotel....but didn't see where I was to stand...eventually driver stopped; I often have early morning flights and like to get breakfast but room service doesn't start till 7 and it took 30 minutes to arrive. Had to eat quickly. Need to accommodate early risers.
made my reservation weeks prior on check in day at 4 i show up they told me no rooms available! work all day NO SHOWER very disappointed and Mad. 4 hours later they called me that room is ready. very unprofessional.
Love the argonaut
Tba
The location of the hotel was perfect. Right on the Fisherman’s wharf next to Hyde park and the trolley station. The room was comfortable and clean. The staff was extremely helpful and courteous. We will be back!
Great location. Resort fee for using the restaurant??? Parking $85 day
Sharon was an amazing concierge and host when we got there late at night! She went above and beyond. So very grateful for her help! Thanks!
I found the furniture run down sofa stained hall carpets ragged. Asked for 2 bathrobes. There was 1 had holes not even sure they were laundered.
Really convenient for tourist favourites such as Trolly car, Lombard Street, Pier 39 etc.
San Frantastic
Fabulous location, food ,staff and facilities!! Definitely will stay here again when in SanFransisco!!
We were in SF during our 40th anniversary. They treated us like royalty. Gave us gift cards for glasses of wine at a bar on their property and volunteered to do anything to make our trip memorable. We never had time for the wine and when I returned the gift cards they sent us home with a free stuffed seal, which our granddaughters will love. If we ever make it back to SF we will be staying atThe Argonaut.
We loved it for Fleet Week! Definitely Will be back!
Very beautiful property
It’s is a great location with rooms with bay views which are amazing! Fun decor, easy valet and super friendly staff.. spa was closed but recommendations great… wonderful concierge!
Hotel was situated in a busy area. Felt safe and able to walk around. Staff was nice too. The room was outdated and the woodwork in the rooms had so much dust on it it felt very uncomfortable for us to put our suitcase and belongings anywhere. The dust was so packed on and old on the moldings of the columns inside the rooms. There was mold on the wood columns too. Wouldn’t go back because of that. Shower curtains need to go
Lovely hotel in great position at Fisherman’s Wharf. Our room was huge and clean. The bathroom was a bit outdated and the fan/air conditioning was very noisy.
They put me in the wrong room then arguing the me that they put me in a king size bed and it was a queen
Great place to stay and great shopping experiences
Very comfortable bed! Cute atmosphere. The restaurant had poor service but food was good.
The hotel was nice and historic. We did eat the first night at the Blue Mermaid. The food and service was great. Parking at the hotel is impossible valet is the only option. Traveling with a child in a wheelchair that is medically fragile we had a lot of stuff and the valet was patient but we felt rushed. They were grabbing items out of our car. It was chaos. We also could not access our car without getting valley. No fault of the staff or building but it just wasn’t right for our needs. The hotel was very nautical and cute. The room was spacious. The mini bar situation was too much for us and less alcohol in the room would have been more ideal. We had room service breakfast which was great and fast. Cool hotel but not for complex medical accommodations .
Property was good and right on fisherman's wharf. Hotel restaurant was way overpriced with a VERY limited menu. Had to door dash every meal we ate in.
Location
We have been going to this hotel since it opened. about 7 times. 1. When we first started going second week open lovely place. Great people, very polite and helpful. 2. Over the years it settled and still a nice 4.5. 1. This time carpet smelled. They said they are remodeling and carpet as well. 2. I understand a billing mistake but billed twice. That does not happen in a 4.5 hotel. Got fixed but I think they do it so they can get parking, drinks food. And insured it’s paid?? Hope just a mistake. We all got hit hard with COVID and SF took a beating. I look forward to staying again when there back to a 4.5 . I am sure they will along with the wharf and downtown. One thing I will say, doormen supper nice, John? And the parking guys. House cleaning friendly and a smile, Front desk, very friendly and bar tenders not helpful not friendly.
Hotel is in a great walkable area to the Piers and Wharf. Lots of great restaurants and things to do near by. Had interactions with check in and Valet. I have to say I was not impressed by either. They did their job slowly and could really care less. Property is a neat find but don’t be prepared to be “wowed” by a super attentive and friendly staff.
Listing stated “city view” of an alley. Felt unwelcoming from the checkin desk, oversized vehicle fee, plastic bag wrapped stuffed animals in the room. Couldn’t have been more shook for a dime at a carnival. Unnerving.
we enjoyed our stay, we will return
Nicely situated. Room had a great view of the bay. Hotel was clean but room had a strange smell. Concierge, Joanna, was excellent!
This hotel charges rooms as if it were a 5 stars hotel and it is outmoded , looking more like a Holiday Inn… $671 a night $75 parking… Bathroom from the 70’s with old tiles and bathtub with a curtain… INCREDIBLE
It had a charming theme and staff were attentive. Location was great and rooms were nice.
We arrived a lot later than planned exhausted from driving hwy instead of 101...they upgraded us to a suite and were very accommodating to fine us a restaurant to eat at and get our stuff to our room. We will be back!
Unsure what benefit I was to receive.
Very nice hotel
Absolutely gorgeous hotel right on the wharf. Very walkable and good neighborhood. Would stay again in a heartbeat, such a beautiful property.
.
All good.
Argonaut hotel was a pleasant place to stay. Staff always helpful. The only issue we had was the rooms air conditioning. We could not get the temperature below 74 F.
Impressed upon arrival. Love the decor, the location was perfect, the staff were friendly and the restaurant offered a great breakfast! Would definitely stay again!
Great! Just great!
Had an amazing stay! All the staff were friendly and made our special weekend even that much better! Thank you!
