Everything was nice and clean. The people staying there were respectful and outgoing
Wonderful view, clean and spacious apartment
It was an exceptionally clean and well maintained apartment in downtown Anchorage. The owner/ manager Jeff is really nice and cooperative. I am a solo female traveler and felt quite safe. A full kitchen and separate bedroom for the price of a hotel room was a really good deal. I was in apt 5 and the view was fantastic. Rooms are secured by a code and they have paid laundry too. They also have other apartments with more bedrooms, so it’s good for families. The only few considerations are: 1. Lots of stairs to reach the apartment. 2. Homeless people on the street as soon you get out - they didn’t cause me any problems, but I was a little unnerved. 3. All major stores like Walmart, Walgreens, Carrs, etc are in mid-town, so you need to spend on Uber. Both 2 & 3 are not an issue if you have a car, I didn’t.
Afraid in Anchorage
The apartment was located in a dicey area of Anchorage downtown. The security measures were fantastic, but when you open your door with a homeless person camped 50 feet from the door, it is uncomfortable to say the least. Very clean but older apartment. Manager was very kind allowing us early check-in. However, I would not have stayed without my husband to help me feel safe. No view from this room. The view was the backside of a building with garbage dumpsters. I wish this was communicated in the description. Felt much safer in the woods than in this area of Anchorage.
There is a charity facility close by that is frequented by homeless individuals. Some ask for money, others sit around close. One was in the car park of the Arctic Fox. No harm but quite unnerving.
The apartment was spacious, modern, and very clean. There is a full kitchen which is supplied with all that is needed for light cooking, and a lovely bathroom. However, be aware of three things: 1. STAIRS. The middle and upper floor apartments are reached by lengthy outdoor stairs. 2. TRAINS: Alaska Railroad excursions cross a street approximately 0.1 mile away and train whistles sound day and night. Very loud! 3. PLANES: the apartment is 1.5 miles from Merrill Airfield and apparently directly in the path of takeoffs of light planes.
Great location
A nice 2 bedroom apartment, just 10 minutes from the centre of town. Good facilities, full kitchen and access to laundry facilities. Our apartment was very comfortable and well appointed. Happy to recommend.
Comfortable unit, more like an apartment than a hotel room. The property is located at the end of a short street- which makes it a little quiet in terms of having no through traffic, but also a little dark and deserted feeling if you arrive late at night. Hosts were great about communicating what I needed to know to access unit and be comfortable there.
Our nice, simple studio apartment was a great option for our stay in Anchorage. Easy walk to downtown and waterfront. Our host, Jeff, was very responsive and helpful.
The property is a 10 minute walk away from restaurants and railway. However, there are a lot of homeless people in the vicinity and it seemed a little unsafe at times, as it’s in a remote area.
Very nice property with clear and well communicated guidance from host. It’s about a 12 min walk to downtown which was fine for us.
Due to room type/ no entitlement breakfast
Was fine for our stay BUT single beds uncomfortable (squeeze), floors cracked sound when walking. Pillows 👎. For hygiene, pillows should have proper protectors on them(changed every room change.) & no proper bed protectors. Chain on ceiling fan broken, short. No sachets of tea/coffee etc. nor toiletries/hair dryer. Travellers from overseas don’t carry somethings.
Stayed in the apartments. Lots of space but the kitchenette could be better stocked.
Apt 5 was a nice size for 2 people. In general, it was clean. Recommend washing dishes prior to use. Kitchen was very functional, toaster has issues. I assume they will be replacing couch since it’s worn out. Bedroom & closet were fine & met our needs. It was nice to have 2 luggage racks. The staff was great. Provided excellent instructions prior to our arrival. I called once because I couldn’t get in laundry room & they answered immediately & provided tips. The area is noisy & looks unsafe. Be aware of surroundings when walking.
Excellent stay at the Arctic Fox Inn. VERY clean and super cute! Enjoyed out stay!
Great room but in sketchy area. Just down from the homeless shelter. Loud in early evening. No curb appeal.
The door entry lock wasnt working so staff was right on site to help. Breakfast was small but enough for on the run. Not a fan of the shared bathroom for 3 rooms but it worked. Great stay overall!
Great little bed & breakfast. Super clean & right downtown
Property was not in an ideal location. The bathroom area was quite small. The overall property was very nice and clean.
Easy walking to shops and dining. Very quiet and quaint place.
Comfortable out of the way apartment.
We had a very comfortable stay. The apartment is super nice with a well equipped kitchen and comfortable beds. The Inn is located in an odd place but I can tell you we always felt comfortable coming and going.
We stayed in room 5 (I believe). It was on the top floor and was very nicely laid out and well appointed. The bathroom was nice and the bedroom was ample size. The living area felt very spacious with an abundance of windows for natural light. Even though air conditioning was not supplied, there was a ceiling fan and windows to open in the bedroom. We were in busy Anchorage, but the nighttime wasn't especially noisy. The only negative was the surrounding area was a bit shabby and there were a few homeless people that had taken up residence nearby. The police made an appearance and asked them to relocate.
This property is 3/4 mile from the train depot and not really near any restaurants or shops. The walk passes a number of shelters making the location a little sketchy. On a positive note the suite was very nice and the owner is very responsive and helpful.
Hidden lil place. The area is full of homeless drug addicts but not on the backstreet where the hotel is. Good beds home feel place, was all good for us. Clean
The property itself was perfect! However, the area around the inn wasn’t great. With that said, we weren’t really going to walk anywhere so it didn’t matter. We were in a 2 bedroom and it was clean and spacious. Would definitely recommend it and stay here again!
As others have mentioned, the property is near a homeless shelter - HOWEVER, truly it was a non-issue. The homeless population is everywhere, and generally quite safe and respectful. The property was clean, roomy, comfortable and very nice. The beds were comfortable, only down side was the noise of the planes due to proximity to airport. And, there is a great little coffee shop within walking distance (AK Alchemist!!)
We were pleasantly surprised. Had everything we needed and then some. Within walking distance to everything! Highly recommend it.
The property was very comfortable and clean.
Property manager was great and very responsive however building simply was not in best part of town. We also had many bugs and spiders in the studio apartment. The scrub brush in the kitchen was brown/very dirty and should have been replaced and couch also had thick layer of dust near seams.
Great stay at the Arctic Fox!
Our arrival went great and we were very happy with our stay. The location fit our needs and we couldn’t have been happier!
The suite was excellent, big, clean, nice view. As others have said, it’s near a homeless shelter, and some of them were rather loud at times and wandering around. But we had no issues otherwise.
Safety Concerns: Regrettably, the property is situated in an unsafe area. As a guest, safety is paramount, and this aspect requires immediate attention. Inaccurate Information and Uncomfortable Conditions: Furthermore, the property information and photos provided on Expedia do not align with the actual conditions. The living area is notably small, the sofa bed appears old and unclean, and the beds are uncomfortable. These discrepancies impact the overall quality of the stay.
The room itself we have no major complaints with although this is not a traditional hotel in the sense that there is no one on the property (for check in, etc.), no facilities of any kind, etc.The room itself was well equipped for longer stays. Very limited dining in the immediate area. The train whistle can be heard every once in awhile but it was not too disruptive. There were screaming homeless people in the lot in front of our room one night and the area feels unsafe IMO. I would personally not walk anywhere from there. It's off the beaten path from downtown and just sketchy. There was a sign in the room stating that guests should keep doors closed and locked at all times due to recent bear sightings. My husband and I (he born and bred in AK) laughed and said, OK -more like drug addicts/homeless as opposed to bears. I guess anything is possible but I would be more concerned about the latter. Maybe someone on site might help the feeling of being isolated in a rather concerning part of town.
Great place to stay in Anchorage
The Artic Fox Inn was impeccably clean and well maintained and felt very comfortable in the unit. Communication before and during stay was excellent and the check-in and check out was easy and fast.
Nice apartment in a not-so-nice neighborhood
The apartment is fine. We had a small issue with the self checkin lock, but it was resolved quickly. The neighborhood is not great. There's lots of undesirable activity, no stores or restaurants, and no convenient access to the train station.
Communication was difficult - phone was not answered and email request to late check out was not acknowledged. Unit was bright and clean.
Fair, with problems
It was an ok stay. The hotel is in a fair location, at the rougher end of downtown. The unit was reasonably well maintained and had everything I needed for my two nights stay. Unfortunately, what let it down is the wi fi not working for the vast majority of the time I was there. As there was also no 4G, as a solo traveler, I felt quite isolated, being unable to communicate with family back home or with the owner. This made things particularly awkward the morning I was supposed to catch a train to Seward and I was unable to either call a Uber or look for directions. Fortunately, the Ramada next door saved the day. I understand that the wi fi can occasionally be down, but not for a whole 48 hours, and not when you are paying nearly $ 250 a night.
Shower head was broken.
You will have a wonderfully clean apt. and comfortable. The reality of the homeless population in the area is stark but we were not bothered. Twenty minute walk to wonderful bike rentals and restaurants.
The property is adjacent to a homeless population and soup kitchen - possibly the most dilapidated part of the city. The rooms were dusty and had not been used in some time.
Very thing was ok
The apartment at Arctic Fox Inn was just what we needed - on the first floor, spacious, full kitchen, clean, furnished and with all the needed amenities. The area was very convenient as well to explore in/around Anchorage. Our door code wasn't set as expected on arrival, but the staff were quick to resolve this so I was very happy with their service and the overall accommodation. I would recommend for a stay in Anchorage.
The property staff we very friendly and helpful. Clean, nice amenities in the room. Would stay there again!
Great place!
Nice B&B on the north end of Anchorage
This is a nice B&B on the north side of Anchorage. The late checkin process was easy. The maintenance guys were very friendly and accommodated our checkout which was a few minutes late.
Couldn’t comment on staff as we did not encounter anyone. The overall accommodations worked for us. The ad is misleading.
My overall rating is a 5 for Arctic Fox for several reasons. First, Jeff was very responsive which was great. The place was mostly clean, however, I noticed a couple areas were missed such as above eye level in the shower had stuff stuck so I assume only the bottom part of the wall was cleaned and also there was hair on the bathroom floor. The floor was clearly mopped but a vacuum or swifter probably needed to be used first before mopping. Also, when the fridge door was opened, there was dirt caked on the floor. it seemed like the nooks and crannies weren’t being cleaned. One thing that was great was that the living room rug was wet when we arrived so it was good knowing the carpet was cleaned between guests. The area isn’t fancy but It’s very central and we were able to walk to downtown which saved us a lot on Uber. We felt perfectly safe. Noise…. this is the one major downside. What others wrote about the noise is absolutely true. The train horns sound like it’s in the unit with you and it seems some train operators are just being jerks with how long they blow the horn. trains seem to start around 5:30 and stop around 11:30. The trains though are not the fault of the owner though so just be aware you’ll hear it. The noise from the unit above was also insane. There was sometimes noise all night between midnight and 6am and also the toilet flushing sounded like it was in my room. Jeff was very responsive though and asked them to tone it down I would stay here again.
This was a lovely pitstop for us. It's a shared space, almost like a house where the rooms are assigned to the people staying there. Very clean and cozy. There's a long message you receive with instructions on how to enter/check-in (seems intimidating), however, it is not difficult to figure it out.
Staff was amazing and so helpful!
Visit home
This was our second stay at the Arctic Fox but our first time with the new ownership. Not the same experience. We missed the wonderful breakfast and social ambiance that we so loved. There was no contact with the new ownership other than by phone or email. The kitchen wasn't nearly appointed as other BnB's we've stayed at. We had to purchase many items that we left for the next guests. The bathroom toilet seat was broken, everything was dusty and the floors were dirty. We stayed in the bottom floor as that was the only room available. The sidewalks leading to the room are cracked and chipped, dangerous tripping hazard. The picture you see here offers a glorious look from a side view. Always try for an upper floor when you stay. The Arctic Fox could really be lovely with some maintenance and care.
This B&b doesn’t look great when driving up to it but when you open the door you find that the apartment is totally remodeled and is very clean. We decided to go with the budget option and had a tiny, but adequate room. We shared a bathroom with one other couple, which was never a problem. The door to the more deluxe room with an en-suite was open. That room was very big and beautifully decorated. We were able to walk downtown to the trolley and museum. The biggest issue was of the homeless and drug addicts on the way downtown. That issue would be the same in any of the downtown hotels.
We only spent one night there. It was a cozy and clean accommodation. Having a ready coffee in the morning really got my day started. Breakfast items were adequate.
Self-serve concept was okay but leaving a bag after check-out time (for a couple of hours) was not a great experience. While the representative on the phone was pleasant and helpful, the reality of getting my bag was not great (could not access the common space as I was told and the housekeeper was not super pleasant). Also, there was one bathroom for multiple units. Listing does not note that, nor did their follow-up email. Share bath was not welcome nor easy with so many people.
Clean!
Cleanest place we have ever stayed! It was great, thank you!
Single female traveler not recommend
Neighborhood was not great, pictures shown here are NOT one of the units I stayed in. Most light switches didn't turn anything on, the lamps didn't work, bathroom outlet by sink didn't work so had to get ready in the front room with a dim light. Toilet was wobbly. Heard someone outside my window at night, woke up to socks by my car and a pair of shoes further down the alley. For a female traveling alone for work, was a bit unnerving.
Jennifer
The look of the place from the outside and the neighborhood(especially for a woman traveling alone) is kind of sketchy—the place, perhaps looks better when it’s sunny and not rainy. However, when you get into the building, it’s a little oasis. There wasn’t a hair dryer —but after I called, the management remedied the situation quickly. The only negative—and I’m not sure if it was coming above me at the place, or on the outside—but music was being played loudly —and I could keep my window open. Overall though, I would recommend—there is an open shared living space that’s like a living/dining room and a kitchen —w/lots of breakfast options. The rate for the place was very reasonable. You’re also not far from the Anchorage airport or the downtown area.
Excellent Experience!
Very nice B&B. No on-site host, but check-in was easy, room was very nice, and self-serve breakfast more than adequate. Highly recommend.
Comfortable, clean apt in relatively safe area
Stayed 3 nights in top floor apt, 1 bed, 1 bath. Clean, has everything you need, lots of windows, great view from this top floor, open private deck. Felt very safe at unit. Will hear train noises so if you're sensitive, use sound machine. Can walk to some local eatery places but area is kind of sketchy at night. Walk with someone should be fine. The management friendly & responded very quickly to any concerns. Check in, in/out of your apt door is with use of electronic keypad & my keypad did fail once. Management responded quickly so I was only delayed by 30min. I did see 2 other travelers in diff units having difficulty with their keypads. My only suggestions are: since daylight is longer in summer, need more black out curtains in living room area for sofa sleepers; laundry room needs longer hours (open 4pm-10pm) and if we are out most of the day sightseeing, we do laundry in the evening... difficult to get more than 1 load in, esp if all units are sharing 2 machines.
In a bad area and didn't feel completely safe!
Did not like location. Also I never got details to self check-in or wifi password. Luckily someone was there to help. Don’t know if Expedia was suppose to forward info or owner. Owner was very helpful when I contacted her.
Excellent staff and management
Rooms, common areas, and bathrooms were always very clean and well kept. The property is quieter than most hotels ive stayed in. Great communication from owner with all the questions we had. I would definitely stay here again.
Location is nice because it is walkable to restaurants and shops. For the cleanliness part. The bathroom stinks because of the shower curtain that has an orangy mold. Also, a black bug comes popping out anytime of the day.
Very clean and neat rooms with everything we needed, except we found two roaches by the bed.
They really do try to make this space lovely and inviting. The room itself was extremely comfortable. Easy process of check in and nice hosts. The neighborhood around is sketchy and the facilities outside could have used a little cleaning and power washing.
The entry keypad did not work with the code that I was given.
Arctic fox inn
We enjoyed this place! Super cute, very comfortable. Decorated well, bathroom newly remodeled and was awesome. Very accessible to tourist hot spots
Had a lovely stay at Arctic Fox. Really helpful owners and comfortable, spacious rooms. I like it so much I’m starting again on my return to Anchorage.
The property was very nice. The beds were comfortable, and the common area and breakfast options were very good. The shower head placement was a little low in our unit (minor dink). The location was central, but unsure about the area around the property as we got in late evening and left early the next morning.
Great locaiton. Cozy vibe
Check-in procrss was confusing; provided feedback to update the instructions. Remotely managed but quick responses via text. Accomodate keeping luggage after checkout.
Property manager provided excellent communication.
A pretty decent 'condo'.
Not the best part of town but not bad. We walked from there to main part of downtown.
we had a great stay - the place was very home-y and spotless. comfy bed. self check-in and fast response if we needed anything. breakfast was a cold breakfast and a bit basic, but got us fed before we headed out. We would stay here again.
It was a nice commons area. Very well supplied. Room was small but adequate. Slept fine. Had flown from the east coast and we went to bed about 7:30. Got up at 6:00 ish so we slept good. The inside of the B&B was a nice surprise since the outside was well, less than desirable. Overall, it fit our need and we enjoyed our stay.
Nicely decorated & very clean. Walking distance to many restaurants & shopping. Comfortable bed extra touches very much appreciated.
This property was the perfect stay. It was 5-10 min walks to restaurants/bars, souvenir shops and excursion pick ups. The place was clean and provided basic amenities. Other than the seagulls it was very quiet. I would definitely stay here again!
The property does not provide any transportation or connectivity to rail depot as other hotels do. With other hotels they would directly pick your luggage from rail depot. There is no front desk service and no one really picks up phone. Also there is so much noise of trains if you open window. But thanks for providing clean room. For such high price tag of equivalent to nearby hotels, I am not happy with the stay at all.
We really enjoyed our stay. Right on the outskirts of downtown within walking minutes of shopping and restaurants. We had a shared bath but it was very nice and the room itself was cozy and the bed and linens comfortable. It was serve yourself breakfast options of coffee, teas, bagels, cereal, yogurt, fruits which was convenient. The place was immaculate inside with nice common area seating both inside and out. Check in was a breeze with a coded entry door.
So happy with our stay here. It was warm and inviting inside and our room had a very comfy bed. They were really generous in allowing us a super early check in since our flight got into Anchorage so early and very helpful in accommodating our schedule. I really appreciated the friendliness from both Jeff and Sawyer.
Easy to find, pretty property and very well maintained. Convenient to stores & restaurants, however the train whistles were a bit annoying. Regardless we’d stay again.
Really well kept property! Very convenient location for where we needed to be! Very nice and responsive property manager! Loved our stay!!
Excellent services from staff. I was in unit 3. I called from airport and was granted an early checkin which was about 2 hours. That was appreciated. I was able to check in, leave my luggage and go explore while i had energy. The unit is beautiful and comfortable. Unit 3 has a dining table with 3 chairs, sofa and comfortable bed. Storage space, extra pillows, new towels, full kitchen and spacious bathroom. Some tips. Be prepared to leave shoes at the door. Very nice thick rug in the room as well. If you wear makeup please bring remover wipes so the face towels are not stained. The unit is quiet and heated up very well. I was able to walk to nearby restaurants and shops. If you're comfortable driving, rent a car from the airport and take your own tours. Stop off at a grocery store for drinks and snacks and enjoy the area. I forgot about the deck sitting area. It looked nice. I was just too tired.
I truly enjoyed my stay. The building and room were comfortable and like home. The area was quiet. I truly enjoyed the Inn way more than going to a hotel. Thank you, Jeff, for the communication and hospitality. You were a great host and I had a good time conversing with you and your daughter. Until next time, Cheers!
First the people were fantastic. Some of the friendliest I’ve met. However there is so much more to a property than the staff. First the overall property is in pretty rough shape and the staff were working hard to get it up to speed however much of the property was under repair. The room we had was on the third floor and had a nice view from the living room however the stairs are narrow and if you have luggage you will have to carry one at a time. The bedrooms really could benefit from new beds - they were uncomfortable and incredibly springy. The window treatments did not block out the street lights - highly recommend investing in proper drapes. The ceiling fans were nice especially when trying to cool off. The shower was okay - the water pressure was a little low. Cleanliness wise there are some areas that can be addressed such as windowsills, corners of rooms. Oh and please invest in pillows. Simple touches like drapes, pillows and tidying up the second floor deck will step this properly up. For people who complain about noise - it’s a city - I hear the same noises at my home. The only drawback is I can close my windows. The windows here need to be open to get a breeze as there is no AC. But the noise wasn’t that bad. I really do believe that with some investment this place could be a great alternative with a great price vs the hotel chains.
Nice place, they need to replace the mattress on the beds
They were great!!, staff was incredible, they took care of everything we needed
This Place it fill at home hotel, Very Clean and the employee Jeff is very nice and helpful I love to stay again there. Very clean and I fill at home in the living room. I Recommend this place for everyone.
Staff wasn’t pleasant and not a great part of town.
Nice, clean and reasonably priced !
close to train station and downtown for cruise transfers. View from common area.
Unfortunately this place is not in a very good area of Anchorage. Also we found the rooms on the main floor so noisy. There is no insulation in the walls And the rooms upstairs you can hear everything. It also was advertised as a B & B but we were disappointed to find it was only a bag of cold food left in the fridge overnight. The bathroom had been recently redone and was nice. Just would not recommend this place to anyone due to the area and noise.
Room was mostly clean and location walkable to downtown but surrounding area not the best and train whistle was super loud throughout day and night. Could also hear people in next room quite loudly. Apt we stayed in needs some further updating/fixing.
Very clean with friendly staff there from 7am-11pm to help with anything. Lovely lounge and dining room. Good security with coded locks to front door. Bed was uncomfortable, our room was small but I know some of the others are much bigger and walls are easy to hear through so not very quiet
New bed will make it (almost) perfect
Beautiful interior, spacious room, lovely and CLEAN. We don’t love a shared bathroom (and if you book direct, you can probably get a private bath for the price we paid here :(, but it was fine for one night. Two drawbacks - cold breakfast in a bag (and half was prepackaged junk) and a very worn out bed. Not having good sleep made the breakfast worse, I’m sure! The bed has a big middle dip and we both kept sliding into it. So…not really a bed and breakfast (where I stay to get a good and special meal, not a cold egg and plain bagel) but a clean respite for a night.
Clean and comfortable
Everything was great. We needed a place overnight. Quiet. We walked to the train station.
I called three days before checkin to update the number of guests. The man I talked to said that because there were enough beds for the extra guests, there would not be an additional charge. But when we arrived, they charged us an additional $120.00. We could have cancelled three days before but not after we arrived.
Beautiful, clean B&B with great staff
Loved this B&B! I knew that we had a shared bathroom, and it was SO clean and only shared between 2 rooms. The kitchen, dining area, and living room are beautifully decorated and cozy, and the staff (we met at least 4 people) were friendly and accommodating. I would absolutely stay here again.
I thought the location was OK but would opt for another hotel closer to downtown next time. First time staying at a B&B and the noise level was way higher than expected. Literally conversations going on to my right, left and below me while trying to sleep. I thought I would be able to walk downtown but the homeless population near the hotel made it very uncomfortable. Approached twice by homeless men while walking to and from the property. Outside of brewing hot tea or coffee from tap water, no drink options provided. I ended up going to Walmart to buy a case of bottled water. I would recommend a courtesy bottle of water in the room. While sitting out on the deck, a man in a high rise across the street kept yelling 'hey lady'. Not the most peaceful experience. The best of the stay was meeting some great people over breakfast, all of which were very satisfied with the room (and had rental cars).
The owner/managers were very friendly and I liked the sack breakfast. Of the 5 places we stayed throughout our stay in AK , the Arctic Fox was our favorite.

It was great for the price and for a place to sleep. It was a little hard to find and there were some homeless people around. but all in all, a good place to stay. I would for sure return.
