Spacious room , very comfortable , staff extremely friendly and helpful .

Very comfortable

Bed was very comfortable ditto for the pillows. Very quiet - no traffic noise and other residents were also quiet.

I liked the friendly staff and the motel was so clean.

Great stay for an overnight en route to Coromandel

Overall nice stay

Nice lodge/motel, a little bit away from the city center. Quiet and peaceful. Owner/manager was VERY friendly and helpful. Room was serviced/cleaned each day with fresh towels and tea, etc. which was much appreciated. Future guests should know that the shared kitchen is not much of a kitchen; there is no oven and no proper stove (only a hot plate). This was not an issue for us, but it might be for others who are expecting to cook their meals. Overall a very nice stay and I would recommend the Aotearoa Lodge to others.

It is out of the way so a little hike to get downtown or to the beaches. Nice to have a communal kitchen

A lovely property quiet and away from the built up area an enjoyable place to stay a reasonable cost.

Suited us for two nights. Thought it would be closer to shops etc.

Great common kitchen facility. Downside is that it is out of town, need to drive to go to any restaurants.

Loveliest welcome and farewell. My unit was wonderful. The motel is like a hidden oasis.

The place was very clean and quiet and the room large and comfortable. The room really needed a comfy chair though and the shower was very old fashioned but the water was nice and hot. The wi-fi was very good but the TV only had 3 watchable channels.

Owner of place very friendly, made our stay enjoyable. The owner did go out of there way and allowed us to park our trailer on grass area. Only downfall, plunger coffee extra not included in free items. Would highly recommend this motel.

As we travel with breakfast food, there were no plates or utensils in the room.

Simple Lodge

This is a simple little lodge that is clean and has all the basics! Would stay again

Whitianga stop

We had a good time and well looked after.only comment would be that they put new iron board covers on.

The people were lovely. Very helpful and thoughtful.

Superb, couldn't be any better. Love the garden and deck chairs provided. Super clean, new and kitchen was fully equipped.

Very nice stay. Great hospitality and service. Only thing to work on would be TV channels only 4. Freeview has at least 11 channels for no charge and should be minimum if no Sky TV.

Good: nice staff, who gave good advice about how to tourist around there. Everything was clean. Bad: almost no water in the shower, bathroom super cold, annoying LEDs in the room (aircon and tv with strong light during the night even when turned off), only lukewarm water for tea (had to go to my room to get a kettle to get actual tea) in the very limited breakfast, horribly soft bed (so much back pain!) and no bathtub.

Peaceful idyll amongst the palms

Very peaceful and comfortable with pleasant service. The bed was beautifully made and very comfy and I appreciated the good chair to sit in to watch TV. Just a little away from restaurants and eateries. Don’t miss the excellent Nespresso machine in the breakfast room.

Average well priced accommodation for stop over. Out of town car would be needed.

Friendly staff, but our room had paper thin walls and combined with a horrible bed it was impossible to sleep. The online photos looked nothing like the real thing.

We had a very short stay; however staff and accommodations exceeded our expectations. Very root and comfortable.

Peaceful accommodation, beautiful gardens, wonderfully helpful staff. The use of the well equipped kitchen was a lovely surprise, as was the ability to use the bikes for rides along the magnificent foreshore - 2 minutes down the road. Highly recommend this venue.

It rained all the time we were there but still it evoked a Wonderful feeling of comfort and spectacular scenery.The Balcony was a welcome surprise even though we never used it but what I remember most was the birds all around tweeting ..I loved it and would recommend it to my friends.

Perfect, clean, quiet

The place was incredibly clean and quiet. The service was excellent. We had the standard queen room and it was very large. I love the location, it's close to town but still away enough that it's quiet. You won't regret this place.

Lovely stay.

This was a lovely place to stay as a couple. It was a quick drive to the city and close to one of the nicest parts of Whitianga Beach. The only real complaint was that there were only about 3 channels on the TV.

Whitianga’s Best kept secret.

Aotearoa Lodge would have to be one of the cleanest and well maintained accommodation facilities I have ever stayed in. Well done to their team. Whilst it is not a new facility it has been maintained to the highest standard. I would certainly stay again.

Comfortable one night stay

Reception was very friendly and welcoming. The bed was comfortable and the room was very clean. There’s no air conditioning so 2 fans on a very hot day wasn’t quite enough, but otherwise comfortable. They had all the essential amenities we needed and they also had spades to hire for going to hot water beach which was a nice touch. There’s quite a lot of bugs around so best to keep the windows closed at night!

Lovely little Lodge

A bit out of town and no restaurant on site. Nearby restaurants not within walkable distance so disable to take some snacks. The Lodge itself was lovely and our room had it's own little patio where we relaxed after our drive sipping a lovely glass of wine. Would definately stay there again.

Don't be fooled by the photo's

Of the 30-40 places I stayed over the 2017 year this was the worst relative to cost and advertised rating! Shower virtually unusable (dribble) tiny very outdated room with no wardrobe, no air conditioning and no Sky TV. Was told to stream viewing through WiFi which was impossible because it was rubbish. Little notes posted everywhere threatening financial penalties for breaching such as $60 for changing TV settings which was pointless when only free view provided!!!

Friendly hotel 24/7

Very laid back hotel, with very accomodating host cost was what I would say is average over Xmas period and our son really enjoyed seeing all there fish.....

Good location private and very quiet

We had a good stay 6 adults good spacious unit. Just 2 issues, I personally do not like the idea of black bed covers I believe it covers a multitude of sins I like to be able to tell whether the linen is crispy clean or not. However the sheets were white and crispy clean its a shame that the covers were black though The other issue was on the expedia site the checkout time was stated as 11 am so we had a bit of a sleep in only for the cleaner to arrive at 10 am, then told by the ,I assumed owners wife that check out was 10 am fortunately we were all packed and ready to leave though. Overall a good place to stay :)

Peaceful and clean place

It was easy to book our stay for the weekend . Everything ready when we turned up at pm 2;15 . All information needed was given on the spot . Internet access just a couple of clicks away , and included in the price . Great . Room and bathroom : clean and tidy . Our bed was very nice , big + from us . We allso got a little later check out , thank's for that . Can recomend this Logde to anyone who need a quite and very tidy place to stay in Whitianga . Cheer's P o M

Good place to stay

Good place to stay. The manager was very polite. Fully recommend this place.

Bit out of town. Only here to see whitianga and the Coromandel Peninsula but enjoyed our brief stay.

Reasonable rates, although a little out of town

When we booked we did not realise this hotel was as far from town as it was. It was not a problem in the end because we had a car, and the advantage was quietness. Took a little while to get attention when we arrived, but otherwise our stay was very pleasant.

Good, clean hotel

Booked hotel online for$140 which seemed a fair price for the condition/type of room. When my parents arrived they were charged $180 (they didn't question this as I had booked on their behalf so they weren't sure if this was right). $180 certainly seemed overpriced for this particular accommodation.

Quiet & peaceful

Aotearoa Lodge is a distance from town (20 min walk), but they offer a shuttle service if required.

Nice quiet place. Beds ok, room clean. We had breakfast included, but it was not worth it.

The room is clean and the guest lounge is fully equipped. The bed is soooo comfy and we slept soundly and woke up fresh the next day.

Helpful staff

Good continental breakfast included. Room lacked adequate storage space. TV worked properly on only one channel. Free wifi cut out the night before we departed.
