Very unique experience. The stay was fun, the staff was helpful, breakfast was very good, and the rooms were comfortable. We really enjoyed our movie night with the projector in our sitting room!

Matera

Our accommodations were lovely. Enjoyed the spa experience. Nice breakfast too. Located in Sassi halfway between the top and the bottom of the hill. I would estimate 100 steps either up or down. Be aware in order to have dinner or sightsee you must go up or down! You also have to carry your luggage. Would not recommend for anyone with bad knees. You can do a tuk tuk tour of Sassi instead and stay on top. It is a lovely town.

While getting here was challenging and you definitely don’t want to be lugging a lot of stuff like we were- the hotel and location is incredible. We had a lovely time and felt cared for by the staff. We used the spa and it was sooo nice after a long travel day. The bed was firm but we found that everywhere we went, The A/C could have worked a little better. Breakfast was lovely. Overall would highly recommend.

Bed mattress was the worst ever. Like a sofa bed. Rooms were a lot smaller than expected. Pics deceiving. No ac!

Amazing staff and cave hotel experience

Matera is not the easiest place to get to in first place. Due to unforeseen circumstances, we had to change plans and arrived by coach bus instead of rental car. The hotel contacted us a couple days before our check in and once they learned about our change if plans, they helpfully pointed out to us that our bus station is actually quite a bit of distance from the hotel. They then booked a taxi for us that waited at the bus station and took us straight into the restricted area inside the old town that saved us a lot of walking while carrying our luggages. Upon arrival, they clearly explained to us all the must sees, how to get to them and recommended food places. The room itself is just a spectacular experience. We booked the cave room for the experience and it was huge. Certainly gave us the unique experience that we were hoping for.

Good location and friendly staff

Great location in the middle of the sassi. We had the terrace room and loved sitting and people watching in the afternoon with a bottle of wine, and watching the sun go down. Very nice breakfast as well. They were able to help us book parking at local garage making it easy to arrive and leave town.

Very interesting place to stay. Difficult to carry luggage up and down multiple stairs and narrow passages.

Matera is one of the most unbelievable places I have ever visited! Antico was in an incredible location. The room, the staff, the cleanliness and breakfast are all top notch. I can’t wait to stay here again.

What an amazing experience to spend the night in such a gorgeous cave where prehistoric man may have slept before us. Loved sitting on beanbags in the cave cinema with a video of the history of Matera and having a beer. Friendly staff. And right in the heart of the beautiful city of Matera in east reach of all the caves.

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights in June. It was a lovely place and right in amongst the old part of Matera. Wonderful, thankyou to all the staff.

Excellent stay right in the heart. Great communication from the hotel prior to my arrival which was essential as the place is hard to find. Great dinner recommendation during my stay. I will be back in 2024!!!!!

Matera - unique accommodation

Matera is very unique so expect different- check in and communication was good and very friendly- room was huge in a great central location - we used spa facilities which were quite private but just a little expensive- we had a great time thanks

Absolutely brilliant place

There was no safe in the room ; no facial tissues and soap and shampoo were skimpy. The staff was extremely helpful amd pleasant. The room wass spotless. Very good location. Very good value

Amazing experience, comfortable and spacious

A unique experience, the staff couldn’t be more friendly and helpful. It is a little difficult to find and also located in the pedestrian area so no direct vehicle access and lots of steps to encounter. Worth it though and set in such an incredible city.

Lovely hotel in the heart of Matera

The hotel is lovely, clean, comfortable, the staff are all wonderful and very helpful. The hotel is situated in the heart of Matera and perfectly situated to see the sights and visit the great bars and restaurants

The air conditioning needs to be better! It was difficult to get to with bags. The "spa" is a jacuzzi! No treatments! You sit in the jacuzzi and a sauna only!

Romantic getaway steeped in history.

Worth the cost to stay in an old cave dwelling the has been meticulously restored and rehabilitated to romantic haven. Exceeded our expectations. Can be hard to find and parking can be an issue. Also, our room opened directly on a common courtyard, so noise was a slight problem.

Ci hanno letteralmente coccolato, dall’entrata in struttura (con parcheggio convenzionato), alla SPA (a pagamento, ma da provare per rilassarsi dopo una escursione) alla colazione che ci hanno preparato in camere perché partendo presto non potevano godere di quella in struttura (tra l’altro ottima con prodotti locali) 5’ dividono la struttura dal centro per cui estremamente comoda per qualsiasi attività (escursioni, mercatini, presepe vicende, negozi e ristoranti)

Excellent séjour d'1 nuit. Très bon petit-déjeuner et accueil chaleureux. Un plaisir.

Abbiamo soggiornato presso questa struttura solo una notte. Posizione fantastica, camera molto spaziosa e pulita. Colazione con prodotti tipici Consigliato

Sehr zentral gelegen. Allerdings ohne direkte Straßenanbindung. Gepäck muss viele Treppen hoch/runter getragen werden. Ansonsten super ausgestattet und ziemlich große Zimmer. Frühstück ist sehr gut.

Good location, comfortable hotel

The hotel is located in the center of sightseeing places, so you can access very easily by walking. The staff was very friendly and offering good hospitality. As the hotel is located in a restricted area, you cannot drive a car to the hotel, so you have to park a car away from the hotel. You should minimize the luggage, otherwise you need to carry in a hilly area.

Ottimo soggiorno!

Hotel sistemato in piena zona Sassi di Matera, in un angolino nascosto. Disponibilità e cortesia del personale e ottima colazione. C'è anche una Spa che però non sono riuscito a fare. Unico neo: la stanza era un po piccolina e mancava una scrivania per appoggiare le cose, ma sono stato bene!

Hotel bello, comodo e due passi da tutto.

Hotel molto bello, recente, gestito con gentilezza e disponibilità. La posizione è strategica al centro dei sassi di Matera, facilmente raggiungibile a piedi a 5 minuti da un comodo parcheggio. Dall’hotel è possibile prenotare le visite guidate, molto consigliate, all’interno dei sassi di Matera. Ristoranti e bar, musei e gallerie d’arte a due passi. La camera era molto spaziosa e pulita all’interno di una costruzione ristrutturata finemente e ben arredata. La colazione ottima! Le norme covid ben rispettate.

Matera meravigliosa

Ottima location nei sassi soprattutto non troppo distante da dove abbiamo lasciato la macchina a parcheggio libero ( vicino a via Castello). Stanza stupenda con enorme terrazzo usufruito specialmente alla sera per rinfrescarsi. Colazione sublime. Ottima disponibilita e cortesia del personale.

l'hotel, frutto di un ottimo restauro di un antico complesso di abitazioni, è in posizione strategica nel cuore dei sassi. Indimenticabile la vista dal terrazzo della nostra camera. Ottima la colazione sia per qualità sia per varietà. Estrema cordialità dello staff. Non abbiamo usufruito della spa.... sarà per la prossima occasione !

スパが別料金、しかも一人30ユーロは高すぎ。元々スパ付きの別のホテルをキャンセルして、料金の高いこちらのホテルに変更しただけに残念だった。他はサービス、ロケーション、部屋、どれも良かった。

Enestående oplevelse

Meget spændende hotel, centralt beliggende. Værelset lidt småt, men veludstyret. Det anbefales kraftigt, at man benytter sig af hotellets forslag om at parkere uden for byen på en sikret plads. Prisen på 17 € omfatter transport fra parkering til hotel og retur og hjælp til at transportere bagagen ned og op ad mange trin (som der er overalt i den gamle bydel). Det er helt umuligt at køre nærmere end et par hundrede meter og tilsvarende trin til hotellet. Morgenmaden var udmærket.

Struttura nuovissima in pieno centro di Matera. Tutto molto curato, colazione ottima con torte casalinghe e personale professionale e attentissimo ad ogni esigenza, soprattutto la gentilissima Marika.
