This place was fantastic, if a bit aged. We had an issue with a room, and they promptly moved us to a new room with no hassle. The food was mixed, so would recommend trying to find elsewhere

Really lovely and as good as ever.

Casa do Sol was quiet compared to our previous stays here but this didn't stop the staff doing everything they could to make our stay agreeable. Of particular note was the high standard of the food which we thoroughly enjoyed. Go now and enjoy as the hotel will soon be busy again. A great place to stay before you go into Kruger.

disappointed

very disappointing - the rooms m needed a thorough clean - tiles in shower had mildew and cobwebs in the room, carpets smelt musty. paving on pathway covered with moss- hazardous. needs a good scrubbing. worst was the lack of food. we were told that they had 2 hake, 1 steak, no burgers etc yet they were on the menu. no tomato sauce , jam

The property is amazing, good breakfast. Our bathroom specifically was a let down which made the experience just okay.

Hotel is quite unique and though fully designed, with very spacious and lovely garden area. Breakfast is awesome, staff are all very very friendly and helpful.Near to hazyview city center

Nice to return back

Nice to return back to the hotel to see the nothing had been change. The same old good hotel. The only thing I would recommended to improve is the the food at the dinner.

nice place with connections to many areas. staff helped me book last minutes tours. the only thing is that the place was not cleaned or set up for my arrival. the bathroom was not clean!

Great Stay

Great reception. Friendly and porter service. Was exhausted and probably one of the most comfortable beds ever. Suggestion, WiFi in the room is a must for business. More TV channels would be great.

Great overall ... with a couple suggestions

We Loved this hotel! The rooms were great, the bathrooms were clean with great water pressure in the showers. The food and location was perfect. It was fun to see the monkeys in property and the Elephants from the next property while on property. To improve: make sure electricity is working in all rooms - my friend has not electricity and then no outlets working in her 2 rooms. Ours though was great. Also, check in and front desk service was very slow - it seemed the staff strugled with the PCs. The food service staff and the bell staff were FANTASTIC. If we go back we will want to stay here again.

It was fairly good.

One of the worst hotels I've ever stayed at! I was not expecting this based on the good reviews, however upon check in and check out we were urged to write positive reviews about the hotel online.... the pool area is nice, but that is it. The rooms are small, dirty and disgusting. I could not wait to leave! There is one restaurant on the property, which I was actually looking forward to based on reviews. The night we were there, they only offered the buffet option, which ended up being more expensive than many of our other meals in South Africa. We were worried to get food poisoning from the buffet food and barely ate! Not worth it! Stay elsewhere.

Unpleasant experience

The hotel does not have wifi or tv. The woman at the front desk said there was no wifi for three months and management said it would be fixed that day. The rooms smelt very musty and mildewy. When we asked the staff to help us they were unfriendly and unhelpful.

Enjoyable experience

The Good: Staff were friendly and always willing to help. Scenery was amazing, loved the whole spanish and foresty feel to it. No issues checking in. Food tasted great and presentation was quite good. The rooms were cleaned everyday. Its location is perfect, lots of activities close by...about 10-15min driving distance away (quad biking, sky trails, river rafting, elephant sanctuary). The Kruger park is a 20-30min drive. Shopping amenities are close by. The Bad: On the first night we had no water. Although it was being attended to it had only been fixed the next morning. It would have nice to have received a courtesy call or sms notification on updates and when it was fixed. There wasn't much of a variety of foods, it took a while to prepare and a bit overly priced. On one occasion the staff got our orders mixed up and eventually never received one of our orders. Except for those few minor issues our overall stay was great. Wouldn't mind going back.

Fabulous Architecture and Gardens

The booking was handled very well by the Hotels.com agent - very friendly, helpful and competent. Arrival at the hotel was great - they were expecting us and check-in was immediate with just my signature. The setting, gardens and buildings are delightful. You are instantly transported to a Spanish village. It just needed some suitable music - Flamenco! The buffet supper was generally pretty good, but not fantastic. The cost of R180 was high by South African standards. It was very quiet and peaceful, and we spent an hour each evening chatting by the pool in the barmy atmosphere - priceless! The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Will definitely go there again.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The grounds were well-kept. Food in the restaurant was very good. Overall the 2 rooms we stayed in were comfortable except for the following: 1. no internet access in the rooms. We were told that we could get wireless internet access at the desk, but it was out of service when we were there 2. not enough electrical outlets in the rooms to recharge all the electronic gadgets that today's traveller brings along 3. cold tiled floors to chill your feet in the winter Overall I would still recommend this hotel.

Great food and location

Rooms are not great and could hear everything that was said in rooms next door, but they were very clean and serviced twice a day. The phones were not working, had to walk when you needed anything. The service was fantastic though. The staff are the friendly, prompt and helpful. When you asked for something you get it immediately. The food served for dinner and breakfast was delicious. The location is great and close to the Kruger and all other tourist attractions.

I booked the hotel just to overnight, but I should definitely be back there for longer. It is in a pleasant, greeen place, with lots of gardens. Good place to drink a wine under the trees on in front of the fire. It is located close to Hazeview and it is neighbour to Elephant Sanctuary. Bad points: The rooms located close to the corridor are noisy. The shower box allows the water to flood the bathroom.

a Splendid place to relax

The hotel was well signposted; however the approach road was not in good condition due to the recent rains. The hotel is about a kilometre from the tar road; our four wheel drive vehicle coped admirably, but I would think small family cars would have had a bit of trouble. The hotel itself was a revelation - larger than I expected, and all in a Spanish colonial style. The setting was superb; acres of "jungle" all around, and with an elephant sanctuary right on the doorstep. We were made very welcome, and the rooms were well equipped and comfortable. Dining at the hotel was not a la carte; if you are a vegetarian, you could be in trouble! Highlights of our short stay were: watching a troupe of monkeys playing on the lawn near our room, and interacting with the elephants next door. We were there too short a time to take full advantage of the facilities - would have liked to go hiking in the grounds, and get a bit of pool time. Altogether a beautiful spot, with friendly staff.

Really lovely place. The room was HUGE! It was bigger then some apartments I've lived in... I would have happily stayed there for a few days but we were only passing thru for a night on our way into Kruger.

Beautiful and serene setting

Casa Do Sol is an absolutely beautiful hotel in a picturesque setting. It is away from the road so it is absolutely quiet except for the frogs and crickets at night. The rooms are very comfortable and the hotel staff are friendly and helpful. The only disappointment was the food, which though not bad, was not very good value for money and you would be better off visiting the close by town of Hazyview. My other small complaint is that the toilet does not have an extractor fan or refresher, which can be akward.

Great place to stay

Luxury! The hotel is beautiful with winding paths, gardens, and fountains. Trails for walking and running. Two pools and a spa on property. I needed 2 rooms -travelling with family. All the rooms were clean and had patios. The suite had a sitting area with small refrig and 2 patios. Fixed price dining- not great for a light meal. No internet. Security was wonderful. Location is great- near Kruger and next to an elephant park. They washed the car while it was parked overnight.

Peaceful, Restful, Close to Spectacular Sights

We GREATLY enjoyed our recent stay at Casa do Sol, close to Hazyview and Kruger Park in South Africa. The gardens, water fountains, and environment were beautiful, clean, and friendly. We loved strolling along the garden paths and taking in the carefully landscaped atmosphere. Friendly staff greeted us and escorted us through the quaint passageways to our room. It was just what it looked like online! We were also impressed with the food! Each dish on the buffet was excellent- the roast beef, the creamy potatoes, the African sweet potatoes, crispy vegetables done just right, bountiful salad bar, and yummy desserts- all first class. Breakfast was equally impressive with the great selection, eggs cooked to our liking, and an array of juices, fresh fruits, cheeses, breads, and meats- too much to sample each! The staff was freindly and quick to come to replace our burned out lightbulb and adjust our tempermental air conditioner. Our tours were first class, and we saw sights and animals that people only dream of. In short, our stay was top-shelf, first-drawer, off-the-charts! The third night free policy was icing on the cake for us as well. Thanks for a memorable birthday in South Africa!

Really nice resort imitating a Mediterranean village

Goed hotel voor 1 overnachting. Kamer was ruim maar donker. Zwembad was mooi. Er komen veel bussen toeristen dus a la carte eten kon niet ivm buffet.

Gutes Hotel am Krüger Park

Wir haben dort 6 Nächte verbracht und waren über die Anlage angenehm überrascht, obwohl die Zufahrt (mehr ein Feldweg) nicht gerade einladend ist. Die Anlage ist sehr weitläufig und bietet fast alles (Pool, Tennis, sehr gutes Restaurant). Von hier haben wir Ausflüge zum Krüger National Park und zum Blyde River Canyon gemacht, aber vor allem haben wir Golf gespielt neben den Krokodilen und Hippos.

Dejligt hotel med pragtfuld have og god beliggenhed i forhold til Kruger. Dog et par skønshedsfejl med manglende internet og høj musik i morgenrestauranten med Michael Jackson på replay kl. 7 om morgenen.

אחד המלונות הכי מדהימים שהיינו (בקבוצת מחיר זו).המלון מעוצב בסגנון מקסיקני-אפריקאי(!) יפהפה עם שטחים ירוקים מדהימים עם קופים שמסתובבים חופשי. קיבלנו חדר ענק עם פינת ישיבה וחלונות ענקיים הצופים לגן מרהיב ולבריכת שחיה וההפתעה הייתה שהמחיר כלל ארוחת ערב וארוחת בוקר (לא רשום בהזמנה) המסעדות היו באיכות של כוכבי מישלן עם כל הגינונים ואוכל מדהים. בקבלה ישב בחור בשם inocence שיצא מגדרו לעזור. המלון צמוד לחווית פילים וקרוב מאוד למרכז Nespruit שם מס׳ מסעדות נוספות.

Eine Stunde zum Paul Krüger Gate

Viele Busreisen und damit die typischen Busreisegäste aus Europa. Meine Villa war eigentlich nur ein B&B Zimmer. Wlan funktionierte nicht in der Lobby und sowieso nie in den Zimmern. Hatte leider viele Ameisen in meiner Villa No. 11. Würde das nächste Mal näher an den Krüger rangehen. Auch die Hotelzufahrt über die Sandpiste ist nichts für jeden.....durch den Regen war es schwierig ohne Aufsetzer anzukommen.

Gateway to Krueger Park

Hotel is good for 2 nights but the restaurant offers decreased significantly - according to recommendations from friends who stayed years ago. There is only carvery in the evening and the quality is not convincing. In total it is visible that the best time of the hotel was longer ago. Negative: No B&B bookable.

Un petit coin d'Espagne au milieu de l'Afrique. L'hôtel se présente comme un village avec ruelles et placettes fleuries. Chambre spacieuse et moderne qui ressemble à une petite maison ! Repas excellent avec buffet chaud très varié. Notre meilleure adresse durant le séjour en Afrique du Sud. Dommage que l'hôtel soit excentré. Il faut suivre un chemin en terre peu engageant. Toutefois, le sanctuaire des éléphants se situe à côté.

Das Zimmer war von der Einrichtung als auch Sauberkeit völlig in Ordnung. Bis ich jedoch mein Zimmer betreten konnte, verging eine ganze Weile. Der Slot in der Tür hat häufig die Karte nicht erkannt. Teilweise mußte ich zur Rezeption zurücklaufen, um die Karte neu aufladen zu lassen. Bei Temperaturen um 30 Grad Celsius in dem verwinkelten Bau ein schweißtreibendes Ärgernis. Abends gab es immer nur Buffet, teils waren die warmen Speisen bereits kalt.
