Friendly and accommodating staff. Property is clean and hotel is on a quiet street which we preferred. We had issues with our shower but they were able to fix it. I wish they offered more options for breakfast. We had breakfast the first 2 days at the hotel and although it was included in our stay we had no interest in it for the rest of our stay. So many other great options in the area. Overall we enjoyed our stay.
The building was a gorgeous 16th century home with an indoor courtyard. The bed was very comfortable and the room was extremely quiet at night.Although it is rated as a five star hotel it definitely isn’t up to par. I would say it is more like a good three star hotel. Unfortunately, the street that it was on was had a lot of construction in the buildings around it and definitely not the charm (restaurants, boutiques, flowered balconies) of the other streets in the area.
Great property. This was a self love spoil treatment for me for 1 night. It was worth it.
Surprisingly unfriendly treatment.
Amazing staff great location.
Very nice boutique hotel
Lovely hotel but make sure to ask if they have construction going on if you do not like noise all day before you book. It did not overly bother us but it would have been nice to not have that there. That being said the hotel is very cute and has charm. It is walking distance from tons of excellent restaurants shopping and main attractions.
The culture is so beautiful. It’s so colorful and looks like artwork
Beautiful and charming hotel. Ronald at the desk was helpful and full of pleasant advice. Location is perfect to discover Cartagena.
I recommend the junior suites Restaurant very good and friendly staff
Incredibly Helpful and friendly staff! Clean and homey. Ask for room 205, it’s the quietest. Great stay!
Charming boutique hotel within walking distance of museums, restaurants, and shopping. Great hotel staff including Lillybeth and Gianella in the bar/restaurant. Check-in was great thanks to Martin & Sebastian. Definitely recommend Ananda.
Staff was incredible! Great food and our room was quite lovely!
The staff was great!!!! Location perfect
Beautiful place great history
Everything fantastic
The area is a little removed from the center and seemed sketchy at night
The staff here is amazing and attentive. Hotel is in a great location for all the main attractions in the Centro Histórico.
This property is beautiful and the staff is very helpful and kind. They are renovating some things, but their facilities are still enjoyable. The property restaurant is also very good and has strong drinks. Overall, I would definitely come back for another stay.
I was hesitant to book this hotel at 1st due to the mixed reviews but when I saw 1 jr suite was available I went for it & I am SO glad I did! Upon arrival we were greeted kindly by the front desk manager & staff. Martin helped us get settled in & gave us a tour of the room after we were greeted with delicious complimentary welcome drinks. The junior suite was beautiful & spacious which was perfect because we were traveling with our toddler. What they do not show on the website is the separate jacuzzi AND private balcony this particular suite came with that I had no idea about as it wasn’t pictured online, so we were beyond thrilled to find out it was all ours. Staying at Ananda on their gorgeous grounds really set the tone for our trip to Cartagena as we really enjoyed coming back & feeling like the hotel was all ours. We stayed for 5 days, the air conditioner was good, hotel felt safe despite some comments I see others making, and I should note that the property DOES have an elevator so that was helpful with the stroller. For some reason the website says that it does not have an elevator so maybe that disclosure is old, but please note that there IS an elevator. We enjoyed the rooftop pool, dining at the restaurant for breakfast, & our concierge / Ronaldo was very helpful with information as well as booking Restaurante Cande which is hard to get. One thing to note is the shower has warm water but you have to let it run a few minutes before the temperature changes
Friendly professional staff in beautiful setting..
Property was in a very convenient and safe location. Easily accessible to a great choice of wonderful restaurants options.
Beautiful property close to everything
Beautiful all over. Best feature? Soundproof windows.
Beautiful property with a lot of potential, however, for the price I expected more. They advertise an indoor and outdoor pool, as well as a jacuzzi, but the rooftop pool was dirty and the jacuzzi was never turned on--despite us asking them to do so. I had a huge spa tub in my room, but the water leaked from the bottom and it would not fill up. My friend, who was staying in another room had a roach issue.
Quiter location around the el Centro Cartagena. The hotel can improve a lot on service. As well as offerings for food. Facilities are small, ie. pool, jacuzzi
We really liked to hotel. They have a delicious breakfast and excellent cocktails. Location is super close to anywhere. Recommended to everyone
I went with my family and we loved the place. Everything was nearby we would just walk around and felt safe, the taxi/uber from the airport is close by as described but over all good experience! We will be back for sure
Not a 5star Not for luxury travelers Limited breakfast, not even a selection of juices Not giving you water everyday Salsa music in the middle of the hotel makes it 3 star Humidity smell
Will definitely be back I love everything about this hotel
Lovely hotel, very comfortable and beautiful inside with great facilities. Service was really nice
We loved this property at first was very skeptical because of previous reviews. Everything was clean, worked perfectly, was quiet, had TV/AC, and great service. Jose, Lilienthal, Wilfredo, and Anando (front desk) were all the best!! We will definitely come back and stay here. They have 2 great pools as well a rooftop and courtyard one. Don’t listen to any negative reviews coming from someone who travels a lot. Location is phenomenal did not have to use one cab to get around you are in the heart of the city!
Fantastic service and facilities. Highly recommended.
We had a very nice 3 days staying there. Close but not too close to the action.
Located in the walled city. Very conveniently located. Close to food , entertainment etc. average continental breakfast. Same choices daily. The ceiling in my room was leaking. I informed management. It wasn’t fixed. Well stocked mini bar , but The refrigerator did not work. It ran hot the entire time.
The flight was delay for 1hr 1/2 and the seat where very uncomfortable
The Ananda is unique and well appointed. The staff is very caring, service oriented and welcoming. They are always ready to assist. Property is beautiful and well maintained.

Charming boutique hotel with generous included breakfast. Comfortable and well located. Not noisy. Lovely roof deck. Rooms well appointed but a little tired. Hot water supplies limited. Very friendly and helpful young staff.
the most charming boutique hotel, but 1) front desk staff is beyond clueless 2) the property is not maintained Equipment -such as fan- is missing or does not work, paint is peeling in bathroom...
There was no hot water in the hotel and the elevator did not work. Will not recommend this hotel to anyone
Beautiful property. The staff is warm and friendly and the service is excellent
The staff at the hotel were excellent , professional and courteous, always aiming to please
Great place, amazing service. Every employee here was happy, accommodating and welcoming. Made me feel so welcomed and at home. Incredible people.
First review in Expedia just because we loved this hotel very much! Design, location, stuff, food were amazing! We had a great time. Rooftop is so cute and breakfasts were delicious. Thank you! If we will ever be back to Cartagena for sure will stay at Ananda Hotel.
Best hotel in the old city, perfect location, beautiful boutique hotel with all the amenities you need, our second visit, and will keep staying there, no need to look anywhere else!
This has been my second stay at Ananda and it does not disappoint! The front desk, the employees at breakfast and the cleaning staff were all excellent! I will definitely come back for sure!
Rooms are small but super cute
The property is very nice. The good things. Free and great breakfast. The staff is very attentive but gave us wrong information on tours etc. so maybe not as informed. Nice rooftop pool to see a great sunset. The rooms had some issues like toilet not working well, not enought hot water, wall safe not working so they need to tweek things a bit. Overall very nice.
The location, amenities and staff
Beautiful hotel, excellent service, great location, will book it again for my next trip!
I stayed at Ananda with my friend for my birthday and my stay was absolutely amazing! The property is beautiful, clean, and had that boutique historical feel of Wall City! The rooftop was so pretty and the view was even more beautiful than the pictures. It’s located in the center of Wall City. It’s walkable to everything and all the main attraction and dock for the boat tours. The staff was very accommodating, especially Juan. He does everything on the property and is so pleasant and helpful. My massage was great & the food was good, especially the complimentary breakfast, we were blown away with that! They also have a few bicycles for guests to ride around the city. We had bad rain the day I plan to take the bike out. I came back a few days later after checking into a different hotel with other friends and they still let me borrow the bike since I missed my ride. I cannot wait to come back to Cartagena and I will be staying at Hotel Ananda.
All the time the entire place look clean and the service is really extraordinary
Staff was really nice and helpful
Great location, friendly and helpful staff, excellent food, and comfortable rooms.
Fantastic boutique Hotel with a wonderful location in Cartagena’s walled city.
Beautiful place, and walking distance to many shops and restaurants. The restaurant inside the hotel was fabulous, and the free breakfast was a great touch. We had comfortable beds, and the pools were great. Drinks were great. Only downside was they first put us in a room right next to the loud very busy street. But moved us down the next few nights to another room and accommodated us. So make sure you request not to get that one!
Super nice and intimate, services are on point.
Great location!
Just go
I stayed here one night and it was perfect. Away from crowds but close enough to be in the middle. Loved the pool on the roof deck, service, and I had a good night sleep after all the excitement of Cartagena. I looked at several hotels in person before I booked and ultimately went with this one. Very happy with the time there!
Cannot wait to return
This affordable, centrally located hotel is charming, comfortable and safe. Close to shopping, dining and touring in Centro Cartagena I cannot imagine a better place to stay. The staff was amazing also. Breakfast was included which we appreciated.
My kq
This hotel is a hidden gem. It is centrally located within the old walls of Cartagena. The staff was so caring and attentive to our needs. I would definitely recommend to a couple looking for a quit and romantic location.
This is a very nice property and the ambience and decor are great. There are several problems though-- the walls are very thin in the rooms and you can hear your neighbors conversations, and noise outside. Also, there is not hot water in the showers, only barely lukewarm water. When I asked the front desk about that, they sent some guy over who didn't speak English and who didn't do anything to help. Everyone else had the same problem. Also, you can't flush toilet paper, and the service at the bar is extremely slow. Often times there is nobody even at the bar when you want to order something. They have a long and confusing system to tally up your bill and it gets easily confused. The breakfast doesn't have a large selection or buffet like many other hotels do (you need to pay extra for bacon). So for the price you pay, I'm not sure I'd recommend this place. Most of these things are easily fixable if the managers are interested in improving this hotel.
It's an incredibly beautiful boutique hotel in the very center of the walled Old city. What more could you ask for! The rooms overlook the lovely courtyard, and are comfortable (great air conditioning) and well-appointed. The pool is convenient, and if it's crowded there, the rooftop jacuzzi and deck is spectacular. Great panoramic views to the ocean and the City. The staff were friendly and the food was great. Great experience and I'd recommend it highly.
The Ananda hotel by far exceeded our expectations! Zero issues with this place! We stayed in 303 and it was perfect, as the rooftop was just a few steps away and a lovely secret patio outside our door. The staff are extremely friendly and knew us by name by the end of the trip. We chose to have the hotel pick us up from the airport, which was done seamlessly and easy to book through email, prior to coming. I do recommend learning a little bit of Spanish before arriving but overall we had no issues communicating with everyone. The hotel is stunning on it own, with 2 pools (which weren’t that crowded, but I do recommend getting to the lower pool by 1pm if you’re travelling with more than 4 ppl). The rooftop is nice to relax on the daybeds and you can see the ocean by the upper patio. Hands down best cocktails we’ve ever had and that’s not an exaggeration! The hotel breakfast is very good, if you read other comments suggesting otherwise, I recommend you ignore that. We also had dinner here on our first night and the food was very good! I wish we could have taken the bikes out, But if you do, I recommend waking up very early to do so, as traffic gets a little hectic later on in the day. I will definitely be back to Cartagena and most definitely stay here again! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
We were put in a room with zero windows and was extremely claustrophobic. The room was also directly next to the pool, kitchen and bar and was very loud. Additionally, the room was a connecting room with the only separation being a thin door. We could hear everything in our neighbors room. Finally, the sheets on the bed had such a strong odor (sunscreen) that it made it almost impossible to comfortably sleep. I tried laying down my own clothes over the pillow and the odor still seeped through. Overall I am baffled that they would put any guests in a room like this. Definitely would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
Amazing! I loved it. Clean, everyone is very nice and great service. The hotel itself is stunning. Will try to stay again.
It was really nice but we had a leak going on the last 3 days. The leak was right above our bed.
BEST HOTEL EVER
Amazing hotel with such a wonderful staff that pay attention to every detail.
Lovely experience
Excellent
Excellent location and great value. Staff was wonderful!
Great Location - Staff very attentive and friendly - overall very good
Great structure aside from noise travelling
The structure is very nice and well kept, top notch service and comfort. Unfortunately the whole experience was ruined by the room communicating with the room’s below through a caveau in the bathrooms, which meant every noise could be heard and experienced as if it was in my own room. A really unpleasant experienced unheard of in a luxury hotel.
I stayed at Ananda for 5 nights during my visit to Cartagena. I LOVED the attention from the staff, we received a warm welcome and everyone at the hotel was so polite. My requests were fulfilled immediately without hesitation. The food at the restaurant was amazing and the free gourmet breakfast was a PLUS! The pool and jacuzzi were perfect and the best thing is that it was available all day.
Beautiful property in an excellent location. AAA+ staff service.
The service and attention to detail at this hotel was excellent. Individualized service. The hotel is stunning. I stayed in the 2 story junior suite which was stunning. Lots of space. 2 bathrooms. I highly recommend this hotel.
Romantic get away
Front desk / concierge unable to make any dinner reservations but otherwise helpful and pleasant . When a city wide power outage struck the hotel we were in total darkness for a couple of hours. The hotel might want to invest in some candles and keep gas for the back up generator . Otherwise a beautiful boutique hotel with friendly service and style
Beautiful Hotel. Simply loved everything about it. The location is perfect! The architecture and décor is simply to die for. The rooms are small but have all the amenities you need.
I love this boutique hotel. Will definitely stay there if we come back to Cartagena. Friendly, accommodating staff. Beautiful room. Variety of breakfast food included with your hotel rate was great. Twice they fixed our breakfast to go so we could take on our tour or on our way back to airport. Internet didn't work in room for 2 days but could access in lobby. Hot shower and comfy bed. Rooftop jacuzzi, lounge area was really nice.
The hotel rooms don’t have windows, feels very claustrophobic. If you stay on the first floor, you hear noise from the kitchen all night long... All in all, not worth the money.
The staff was very kind and helpful. The hotel is very clean and beautiful.
the staff were excellent, professional and very courteous. The facility is an older building, which is obvious since its located in the "Old City." However, the property is well kept and has unique features that make it a great location for couples. The only negatives are the bathrooms aren't very well ventilated and can be quite warm. Toilets do not flush well and rooms may lack some sound privacy due to proximity. Overall, A location that I would recommend and stay at again.
Want to like it, but the noise killed it
We really wanted to like this hotel. The location is perfect, it is clean, elegant, the staff is excellent and very helpful but one thing just ruined our stay there. It was way too loud, which was due to a couple things. The doors close fully though there is a little slip that is open to the outside. The bathroom window does not cover the entire window opening. These allows a lot of outside noise to get in. We were on the third floor with a outside hallway that overlooked the lower level inner courtyard pool. If people are being loud in the pool we heard everything. We had the unfortunate experience to be at the hotel at the same time as two large families with 5 young kids. The children screamed and jumped endlessly in the pool, unsupervised, from 8a to 10p+. They woke us up multiple times. We were desperate to get rest but could not do so. We complained to the hotel and they did speak with the families, to no avail. We were told this was not the Ananda way and that usually it is quiet, however they did not do anything to really fix the issue. They did not offer to move our room etc, though they ended taking 100,000 pesos off our massage. We do have to say that the service was excellent, friendly, and helpful but the noise was horrible. We got a couples massage, which was ok for him, and terrible for her. Overall we wanted to like this hotel but the noise killed it.
Rooftop pool service took a while to get them to answer the phone for service. Room AC got hot at night.
Great Cartegena Hotel
Ananda Hotel is amazing!
Check in experience was terrible. Check in stated it was at 3pm, however wouldn’t let us into a room until after 6pm. And when they let us I. The room it was dirty, filthy even. So disgusting. And it wasn’t the room with two double beds that we had booked, just a room with one bed. They eventually cleaned the room, but it was a terrible experience with a staff that had no solution and made us sleep in the wrong room because they accidentally gave it to another guest. Horrible. Will NEVER stay here again.
Great location, pools were nice, breakfast was delish. All staff were/are super friendly.
The staff was very welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. The rooms are very comfortable and the breakfast at the hotel is great!
The location is amazing. Front desk staff was less than friendly and the rooms were never cleaned well. Disappointing as reviews for this property are very good.
Not Worth The Price AT ALL
Room 107. Bed creaks at the slightest movement. Room was only separated from the next unit by a thin door. The door was a shared wall with our unit. We could hear every little movement or conversation from the unit next to us. Room was also by the bar which was noisy (staff talking and clanking around) starting from around 7 am. Added soup to breakfast and staff tried to overcharge. Items ordered from the bar were also overcharged. Pointed the price discrepancies to Harold at the front desk and he had to physically amend it for us. Annoying that their staff wasn’t honest about these charges and tried twice to charge us extra. If you stay here and order food/drinks be sure you check your receipts. Even if you point it out they’ll try to convince you verbally that it’s the correct price with “extra charges” lol. Don’t fall for this scam. Overall, great location. Pool area is lovely and the breakfast was great. But the lack of privacy in the room as well as the two attempts by restaurant staff to scam us really ruined the experience for us. There are plenty of options for hotels in Cartagena. You can do better.
Extremely customer service oriented. We were treated exceptionally well. I highly recommend this hotel.
Really horrible experience at this hotel. The hotel itself is nice and the staff is friendly. The fault here are the hidden charges the hotel puts on everything. They warn tourists to be weary of panhandlers in the streets, but this hotel out did even the most skilled and greedy street vendor. My wife and I went to check out and they had a $200.00 hidden charge which they conveniently left till the last minute to mention. When we disputed the charge the whole smile went away from the employee and he became just another greedy vendor on the streets of Cartagena. We ended up paying it out of frustration and fatigue. The pistachios in the room were $38.000 pesos - a 400% increase in price! What a total rip off! Of course, a hotel overcharges for room amenities, but this place took it to a whole new level. It was a horrible experience getting shaken down with a smile and a “have a nice day.” We will never stay at this hotel again!! Stay away! This ruined our vacation.
Charming stay with a few caveats
Great location in Old Town on a quiet street. Ice cream upon check-in was a highlight. Staff was helpful in arranging taxis and overall service. Nice decor and courtyard. Rooftop dip pool was great feature for hanging out. Free breakfast was adequate. A few minor issues— sometimes the doors rattled, air conditioner rattled, shower drained slowly, music played throughout the day in the restaurant, which you can hear from all the rooms. Bathrooms were not super private to the bedrooms bc shuttered doors.
Amazing cutest little hotel! Perfect location and staff was the best, they made sure to make us feel at home!
The staff was always very friendly, and attentive to our questions and requests. Check in is at 3pm and we arrived early around 2pm (straight from the airport). We didn't get a room until about 3:30pm which is not a big deal in my mind BUT, they were very apologetic and provided us ice cream snacks and juices while we waited, they also offered to let us use the pool. They were great. The hotel itself was beautiful, 2 pool areas as well as several lounging type areas. And our room was amazing, we stayed in a suite which was very comfortable. We would definitely consider staying here again.
Amazing Ambience, Staff and Stay
Amazing hotel; search no further. Staff was extremely courteous and helpful with all of our needs. They were able to accommodate a last minute massage for 3 even though it’s not the standard number of people. One of us had a medical emergency that was promptly handled by qualified medics the hotel dispatched and best it was covered within our specific room rate. Found the hotel of choice for all future stays
Great stay!!
Luxury boutique hotel, room and staff were great. Delicious breakfast included. Loved it and would definitely go back.
Lovely getaway
Lovely getaway for my girlfriend and me — I stayed here two years ago with my husband and the property has ever so slightly deteriorated since then (some of the wood in the roof deck and the showers could really use a revamp), but overall it's such a lovely, charming, relaxing spot. The rooms are very comfortable, the rooftop mini pool is fantastic, the breakfast is probably the best part of the whole place, and we got great massages our first day. Highly recommend!
We cannot rave enough about this hotel. Wow, what an amazing experience. The hotel itself is centrally located to everything and is one of the most beautiful and peaceful hotels I have ever been. You almost forget that you are in the middle of a busy city. We arrived at close to 1AM and the front desk attendant was very nice, welcoming and informative. Our room was beautiful, spacious, and best of all, very cool (whcih is very needed in Cartagena). Beds are comfy and so are showers. Breakfast is included and is AMAZING. From the service, to the ambience, to the food, we were amazed. This hotel is one that we will always remember and will definitely come back to. Thank you all for being so amazing with us. See you soon!

Cute little hotel in an exciting area with lots to do!
