Wouldnt stay again

Pretty basic (expected but very small for one person, not sure how more could fit as there were 3 bunks). Could smell people smoking (not cigarettes). Room spray was heard and sprayed after smoking.

The 'manager' was extremely rude, unhelpful and generally unpleasant, had no customer skills whatsoever, threatening not to book you in for whatever reason, ordering you to wait in certain areas. Cramped dingy the property seems to be a disaster waiting to happen with steep narrow stairs and packed with people. Very unhygienic with a cat sitting on top of bench top in small kitchen eating area. Very noisy - St noise. Only positive thing I can say is bathrooms were passable. Just don't stay here.

Ick ick ick

Booked a double room with ensuite. Check in went smoothly and the person working reception gave us some recommendations for things to do and places to eat. There is no lift and the stairs are steep and narrow, so beware if you have heavy baggage. We dropped off our bags (around 6pm) and the cleanliness of the room was questionable, but we were hungry so we went out. Returned after midnight and were getting ready for bed when we saw them…bed bugs crawling on both mattresses. (Thankfully we hadn’t left anything on the beds despite the small size of the room!) Reception did move us into a triple but it was so cramped and uncomfortable that we couldn’t stay both nights and left in the morning.

First off the guy refused to take my credit card cash only but I showed him on website where it said they accepted credit cards but he said no! Then I went on a run because I didn't exchange my money and there was no atm in the area at all an hour later I paid. Went upstairs and I was applauded....it was dirty the staircase was dangerous I was in a room with 10 guys I left. I booked another hotel and left the man at front desk yelled no refund. He could care less that I was unsatisfied....100 euros I wasted...stay away

Weekend in Amsterdam

I had to check in late in the evening and run to the ATM to withdrawal enough cash to pay for the room up front, but once I got settled, everything was fine. I've had a more community experience at other hostels and this one felt more like a hotel - which is fine. The only other thing I would note is that the after using the shower, it was necessary to use the squeegee on the entire bathroom floor due to the way it was setup.

The stay was as expected for a hostel at this price range and would have gained a decent rating, apart from one fairly major point. Bedbug bites. Angry, red bedbug bites after staying two nights in a twin room with ensuite. Hostel Sarphati, you absolutely need to sort this out. There is no excuse. Guests don't expect luxury at this price point however we do expect a parasite-free, clean bed. The staff were otherwise friendly and it's in a quiet location however I would not go back due to the serious bedbug issue.

Bugs bite! Skin destroyed!

I got many bug bites on my face and hands. I have been to many hotels and this is the first time I experience this. The bites on face and hands became seriously red and swelling, so that I have to take medicine and apply ointment. After more than one week, the red swelling have not disappeared and some become scars. This hotel is terrible; it destroy your skin! Stay away! I will also report this to the Administration responsible for hotels in Holland. I suggest hotels.com report this and remove this hotel from hotels.com.

Cheapest hotel in an expensive city for a reason.

If you're like me, all you need is clean sheets, a somewhat clean room, and hot water that doesn't quit. In that respect, this place is absolutely fine. Past that it's a squarely and very two star place. Read the other reviews. It's like that.

You can do better than this

this place is not recommended. If you can book further in advance, get a better hostle, or get a one bedroom hotel. I rented a bike from this hostle to ride around the city. I left a €50 deposit for it. The bike was super cheap and was falling apart over the 24 hours I had it. At one point I couldn't remember where I locked the bike up, and I walked back to the hostle and they said it would be a €600 charge! This is an unethical business. Do not stay here! I ended up finding my bike and I got my deposit back, but I will never stay here again. I don't trust them.

Don't Stay Here

I have never met a ruder staff in my life. I came back around 1 AM, the night after checking in, to have the hostel receptionist tell me that they could no longer keep me for the number of nights that I booked and that they accidentally overbooked my room and I had to change rooms. After complaining that they could not just kick me out after I paid for two nights, the receptionist got aggressive and started screaming in my face. Not only this, but if you over sleep checkout by 10 minutes, they come in and shake you and scream at you until you wake up. By far the worst hospitality I have ever experience and by far the worst hostel experience I have EVER had. DO NOT STAY HERE.

A solid dorm

It is a dorm, nothing more, nothing less. Location is excellent, a beautiful park on the doorstep. 10 minutes via tram from the city centre and mueseums. WiFi is also excellent, didn't have any problems at all. Bathrooms are clean but small. Beds are comfortable but very close together: I was in a 10 bed dorm that actually squished in 12 beds. A decent dorm at a decent price. You could do better, but you could also do worse. Would recommend.

STAY AWAY - ALL SORTS OF HORRIBLE

First off - do not book this place online! I had to pay over $90 per night booking this place through hotels.com (it was a busy tourist weekend). When I got there, everybody was paying less than 40 Euro per night. My room had no air conditioning (it was broken) and it smelt bad. I complained about this. Their solution was to keep the door propped open so that cooler air from the hall way could come in. Next day they tried to fix it and said it was fixed. All it did was blow warm air. After two nights, I told them I was moving out to a better hotel and wanted a refund. They gave me a card and told me to contact the owner. I emailed him and called him several times. He does not even respond! They also told me I could go there and see him in person some mornings. He was never there - I wasted so much time just trying to talk to him! There are waaayyyy better hostels allover Amsterdam that aren't run by some crook who could care less about customer service.

Great area ok hostel, need more power outlets there was only one by the door for 10 people. Also booked a 10 person room and was put in a 12 not a big deal. Breakfast is a joke just bread and peanut butter.

Don't Stay Here!

This is a terrible place. The entire hotel is dirty and dusty. There is no elevator and the stairs are narrow. The rooms do no have "hotel" beds, but rather "dorm room" type metal spring beds and bunk beds. The place was so bad that my girlfriend and I went to our room and used the wifi to find another hotel, then left. The price is exorbitant. Rooms should go for $20 each, nothing more. Don't stay here!

The hostel its clean,the receptionists are very nice and helpfull,I had a room close to the reception and was a bit noisy sometimes during the night, the very bad thing it was that the room and the bathroom were with an excesive humidity, so...you can imagine how you wake up in the morning...they need a fan extractor in the room on during the day or something...and they dont take cards to pay, only cash,

Hostel staff very helpful and friendly

The boys at the reception were very friendly and offered to help me with my bags plus if I had any other questions. For the price, it was completely worth it. And there was free breakfast! Even if it was just toast, coffee/tea. Free WiFi too. Bicycle rental, good restaurants and a coffeeshop nearby

good value for money hostel

A basic but decent hostel - I stayed in a room for single occupancy. There was bunk beds but they were comfortable (not too soft), the bathroom was clean and functionable (if a little smelly), it was good value for money and a very convenient location. Staff was friendly and helpful. They did not accept cards however, we had to get cash to pay the room. The breakfast was also very basic, weak coffee and toast bread without a toaster facilities.

Any port in a strorm

We stayed there because we needed somewhere for an extra night in Amsterdam last minute, and everywhere else was full. As a result we paid a fortune for a private bunkbed room, but that's supply and demand for you. For what it was it was fine, staff were friendly, no problem with checking out late and the shower was fine.

They provided simple breakfast and free sheet and blanket.

Cheap and quite simple

No soap in bathroom of a 12-bed dorm, but after complaining, we got some. No ladder or other possibility to step onto my bed, but after complaining, I was promised one. This didn't appear, and so I complained about it the next morning. Then, I was offered one night's stay in a 4-bed room – for free! The air condition didn't seem to work, and so I – yes, complained about it, and it was fixed. So, after all: Lots of things to complain about, but do it! The receptionists are friendly and willing to help. If you really don't expect luxurious facilities, it is okay as a place to keep your stuff while you're checking out Amsterdam's daylife and nightlife.

The location is fantastic, it's right next to Sarphati Park which is a beautiful place. Also, the Albert Cyup market is less than a kilometer away. The Hostel accommodation is ok, the service is great, the breakfast very basic, the internet connection is reliable and the resident cats adorable. The only real complaint I have is with the bathroom as there is no ventilation inside and mold is beginning to show up in spots.

Good Enough for What I Paid

The staff there are very friendly and helpful. The cleanliness and comfort of the room/bed are better than expected. But of course don't expect too much. You got what you paid for. All I needed was clean room/bed to sleep for 2 nights. I love the surrounding neighbourhood. It's close to Sarphati market. And there is a street market nearby.

Nice part of town, awful hostel

You walk in and it's tiny. Then I got put downstairs with no lift to take all my luggage down. The room seemed fine except the bedding on inspection seemed dirty and is really old. There were only a few plugs for the 8 person room. The bathroom was tiny and covered in mold. It smelled awful. The kitchen area was available but not when needed. The bed was uncomfortable. I went in expecting nothing from this hostel because of other reviews, and left wishing I had paid the almost 100 euros to stay somewhere else.

You get what you pay for...or not?

Personally, for the service I received, I think I paid too much. I paid for a 6-person dorm. The rooms are small and cramped, which is okay (except when you have a top bunk and two beds are pushed together end-to-end; there are no ladders), and there is absolutely no soundproofing - you'll hear your fellow hostelers in the halls, on the balconies, and in the bathrooms. As a 6-person room, we had our own bathroom, which was kept mostly clean, though its wear definitely showed and it's very basic.... (Bring shower shoes.) "Breakfast" was a choice: toast or a PB&J and coffee or tea. That was it. I've seen waaaay better in less expensive hostels. The location is actually pretty good. It's in a neighborhood where I had no problems - it just takes about 20 minutes to get to from Centraal Station (Tram #25 directly). Otherwise, you can hop the tram to anywhere you need to go. I stayed for 3 nights, and that's about all I could handle anyway. It was okay, but I wouldn't stay there again.

Sarphati Hotel - next to Sarphati Parl

Good, clean hotel with friendly and helpful staff. Location next to a tram stop is ideal and there are other tram stops nearby if the 25 or 3 are not the routes you need. Easy and quick to get in to town and to the main attractions such as the museums. You won't be hungry after the buffet breakfast, and you can help yourself to tea/coffee and fruit any time, which is a bonus. Not as centrally located as some but we didn't find that a problem. There are bars/restaurants in the vicinity, so you don't necessarily have to venture in to town in the evening

Voor 1 nacht oke, maar ..

Voor alleen overnachten is het goed genoeg, alleen wel een hele kleine kamer met slechte matrassen. Badkamer was prima. Ander systeem voor afzuiging zou prettiger zijn dan nu dat het ook aangaat als je naar toilet gaat. Ligging prima, dichtbij centrum en OV.

Ein Käfer hat mich mehrmal gestochen . Nach einer Woche tut es immer noch sehr weh . Und wir hatten so eine kleine Zimmer, da kriegt man keine Luft. Fenster kann man nicht aufmachen schrecklich, wenn jemand Klaustrophobie hat ,het eine riesige Problem da gehabt . War Dreier Etagenbett !! zwischen Etagenbett war immer 50 cm Platz . Ehrlich gesagt, ich hab nur im Fernsehen gesehen, aber im Knast ist viel schöner und viel bequeme.

암스테르담 물가가 비싸다보니 도미토리움이 비싸긴 하지만 다른 후기보다는 깨끗했어요. 직원들도 친절했어요. 하지만 계단 경사가 높고 좁아 큰캐리어 들고오는 여행 보다는 배낭만 들고 오길 추천합니다. 교통은 편해서 어디든 가기가 편했어요. 위치는 좋아요 2인이나 3인을 추천합니다.

Die Lage war super, alles andere furchtbar: es war dreckig, die anderen Gäste laut und die Atmosphäre wie im Knast. Die sog.„Gemeinschaftsküche“ bestand aus einer kaputten Mikrowelle, einem Wasserkocher und einem der dreckigsten Kühlschränke, den ich in meinem Leben gesehen habe. Einen Aufenthalt hier kann ich keinem empfehlen, für den Preis, den man pro Nacht zahlt.

Dreckig, heruntergekommen, unfreundlich und wirklich nur 2 Nächte auszuhalten. Fliegen in der „Küche“. Am besten das eigene Geschirr mitbringen. Der Kühlschrank ist ein Biotop. Die Badezimmer kleiner als eine besenkammer. Keine Handtücher, alles sehr benutzt und heruntergekommen. Man muss gut balancieren können und nicht in allen Räumen gibt es Fenster.

Plus jamais je vais utiliser cette site car l'hôtel cette pas pas du tout à les photos que je veux pour la réservation en plus les personnels très désagréables je peux rajouter qui nous sont quand même carrément volés une caution de 10 € et on était trois couples ils ont demandé une caution dans laquelle il me semble non même pas rendu même les flics qui sont venus il s'est application je veux plus jamais l'utiliser car c'est l'hôtel c'est des voleurs vraiment des voleurs

Caro, te cobran el 100% al hacer check in aunque ya hayas pagado. Sucio, pequeño e incómodo. El staff es displicente y mamón, en especial los recepcionistas colombianos, asiático y neerlandés. No recomendaría el hostal ni aunque me pagasen. Ni siquiera cabes en los baños.

Agradabe y comoda estancia.

EL lugar esta super fácil de llegar y la ubicación es buena, el sitio es agradable, puedes caminar con seguridad, encontrando tiendas y restaurants en el entorno, por el costo que ofrecer volvería a hospedarme sin problema. El personal es muy amigable y te atienden a detalle sobre tus requerimientos.

Los chicos de recepción del hotel son SÚPER amables, hay recepción 24h entonces me han dicho que cualquier cosa que necesite, consultas, recomendaciones están ahí para ayudar. Te explican todo muy bien y ha sido súper buena experiencia

Det här var en av dem värsta upplevelser jag haft. Service och bemötande var under all kritik. Vi skulle checka in, enligt förtida bestämmelser, klockan 15.00. Vi hade bokat in aktiviteter på dagen. Dem sade konstant att det tar bara tio minuter till innan vi skulle kunna checka in. Gång på gång. Efter tre timmar av tio minuters hintar och ingen tillgång till rum eller förvaring fick vi tillslut vårt rum, men då hade våra aktiviteter redan passerat. Hursomhelst, vi bad om antingen någon form av kompensation eller rabatt för omständigheterna, men vi fick nej. Vi bad om att få avboka istället, men han sa att dem kommer att debitera våra kreditkort ändå. Inte mycket att göra än att acceptera, tydligen enligt deras åsikt. När vi skulle betala tar dem bara kontanter, vilket inte var beskrivet sedan tidigare. Kontantpriset dem bad om var 10% högre än det som angavs på bokningen, plus att lokalskatten var högre än angivet. Efter att tillslut fått visa dem riktiga uppgifterna gav han med sig och gav oss vårt riktiga pris. Vad ni än gör, BOKA INTE HÄR! värsta vi har varit med om!

Amsterdam lowcost

La descrizione è chiara si tratta di un dormitorio in una stanza condivisa. I letti sono piccoli e occorre portare i propri asciugamani per il bagno che comunque è in stanza. La mia esperienza non è negativa perchè mi aspettavo una soluzione del genere e poi io e il coinquilino non ci siamo neanche visti...ma il rapportoqualità prezzo è conveniente. L'albergo è vicino alla Fiera RAI dove dovevo andare e ci sono potuto andare con una piccola passeggiata senza dover utilizzare i mezzi pubblici. Conviene leggere bene la descrizione se non si vuole rimanere delusi.

Trænger til en en gennemgående renovering. Ekstremt varmt på værelserne hvor man ligget 10 personer klemt sammen på 10 kvm. Man kan ikke betale med kort.

Elendigt! Vi havde booket dobbeltværelse og fik et tiny værelse med en købeseng. Vi kunne ikke betale med kort, kun kontant. Morgenmaden bestod af et stykke toastbrød der bare stod på bordene. Så var der marmelade og smør, kaffe og the, men ingen brødrister. Det eneste gode var at der var køleskab, hvor man måtte sætte sine varer ind. Det var afdindig dyrt. Kan ikke anbefales
