This hostel has the best staff who are there 24 hours to help answer any questions you may have. The staff are always friendly and happy to help you. They also have many activities to get involved with if you’re looking for a good way to have fun and meet other people. Rooms are clean, well kept and in good condition. Highly recommend!

Absolutely fantastic for the price. Staff was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, which was a positive for navigating the city with my, uhh, no bueno Spanish. The room was great, and the whole place was clean and secure. One thing that isn't necessarily clear - they have several activities like (free!) walking tours and outings Tuesday-Friday, and (not free, but worth it) tickets and transportation to fútbol matches on weekends. It was a great resource to have.

Really modern and clean hotel. Great public spaces and the room was a good size for the 4 of us too. Staff were helpful and they had lots of free events as well as organised trips.

Great staff. Very clean. No hooks or shelves in the room so no place to put things except in locker or on floor.

Staff were nice and friendly - good place to meet others. however the room was in a bad condition. The bathroom door handle was broken and it was hard to close the main door - very stiff.

Nice modern hostel

Clean modern hostel. Our family of 4 fit in a 4-bunk room, and they provided an extra mattress (and sheets) that we could put on the floor so all 5 of us could be together. There were chargers for every bed. The only problem is that the sink is right in the main sleeping area, so if you needed to use the bathroom at night, your hand washing would be disruptive (okay for us as a family, but I imagine it wouldn't be ideal if you had just gotten one bed in a bunk with strangers).

Very nice hostel just a short walk from a bunch of excellent restaurants and bars in San Telmo. Clean, friendly staff and an overall good vibe. Can recommend.

Excellent hostel that feels a little bit like a hotel in terms of amenities, but still has a nice hostel vibe socially. Very clean, rooms are cleaned everyday and they even make your bed. Can highly recommend. Great location in San Telmo too.

I reserved and paid for a private room. They messed up and didn’t have one available when I arrived (despite the fact that I had pre-paid) and I had to sleep in a dorm room. I would never have agreed to do this if i had known this would happen and they didn’t even say sorry. The bedroom windows don’t shut properly, the sink is outside the bathroom and the noise from the street makes sleeping at night nearly impossible. Completely avoid.

I stayed in a private room that was bright and relatively spacious and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful, although there were a few miscommunications. The location was fantastic!

Great on a budget

Great if you are looking for somewhere on a budget and just want somewhere to sleep spending minimal time. The shower room attached to the bedroom was tiny to the point you stuck to the shower curtain when trying to stand under the water. Anything left in the small shower room on the other side of the shower curtain got wet; not great when you want to try and dress after as you are sharing the room. The bunk beds were shakey and extremely creeky whenever the room mate moved only slightly. On the plus side the room is cleaned every day, the breakfast was nice and the area feels safe. It was very cheap per night but I probably wouldn't stay here again if I was to return to Buenos Aires as I have stayed in better hostals.

Poor

Stayed in a private double. Had what we needed but staff were rude, lock on the door was broken and night staff played music very loudly way into the night which we could hear in our room. No wifi in room- we were on the 1st floor and the staff shrugged their shoulders when we told them it wasn't working nor cld we connect to any other network in the hostel. Feels as if they are living off one very good trip advisor award 3 years ago. Probably good for young solo backpackers who don't need any help.

Gerat place to stay in the old, bohemian BA

The hostel is really nice , well equipped and with lovely and very friendly staff. The location is great for those who want to explore BA by foot . The area is safe and very well located and the hostel offers a variety of tours and activities to discover the hidden gems of BA

Excellent hostel better than many hotels

I would highly recommend America Del Sur hostel. I stayed there a week in a single room that was clean, well maintained, and modern. The queen size bed was very comfortable and the heavy window curtains that kept out the sunlight were a nice bonus. The desk staff are all fluent in English, very accomodating, and available to book tours, taxis and transport to other cities. The included breakfast is better than you find at most budget hotels.

Great Hostel - Highly recommended

I had a double room all to myself on the street side, but the bar across the road can be noisy in the weekends. Room serviced daily. They picked us up from the hostel for walking tours :) Great reception area to socialize with vending machines with beer, etc. You can buy alcohol from outside and bring it into the hostel. The vibe of the other travelers were great. Close to Independencia subway stop and Avenida 9 de Julio for buses. Small supermarket directly across the road, fruit shop next door. Allowed you to use showers downstairs even if you've checked out.

Falling Apart

ROOM FALLING APART! Ceiling was leaking! They didn't offer to change rooms! It was NOT raining and yellow water was coming from the entrance and bathroom. The ceiling was even falling in the bathroom! There was a HUGE hole!

CEILING HORROR MADDESS

The AC didn't work the 1st night and it was HOT AS HECK and there were LEAKS IN THE CEILING!!! We had water coming in the hall way and the bathroom AND it wasn't raining! It was nasty yellow water all over the door entry and the bathroom. The bathroom ceiling even got a hole after the 2nd day! Other than that the place was nice. They should have moved me into a different room and fixed the issues in that room.

Good hostel - great location and fair prices

Great little hostel. Well-located between a ton of great sites, it had a friendly staff, clean rooms, and a decent breakfast. It was easy to take walking tours from the hostel (which we did) and there were people in the hostel from all over the world, which added a bit of flair to the place.

The worst hostel ever !!!!!

This is the worst hostel you could stay at!!! I have once pice of advice run away from this hostel as fast as you can!!! The front desk people were awful no customer service skills you would for directions and they would say down the road . I had to wait to get my room for 3 hours !!!! I hope I have saved some one from staying here !!!! Please just stay away from this hostel you will be happy you did!!!

really good hostel

This is one of the most professional hostels I have stayed in during my travels in south America. The room keys and full size lockers made me feel very secure. The room was clean and the backroom for each room is a great plus. My only complaint would be the noise. My room was at the back of the building overlooking the central court yard where people drank until 3 or 4 am. I think it should be hostel policy people either keep noise low or move the party out to a club. Other than this I would definitely stay in this hostel again or recommend it to a friend.

Solo female travel perspective

For a hostel, this place is pretty nice. However, I´m not sure how they assign rooms. I am a solo (young) female traveler and I was in a shared four person room. The two other people were older males and then the last night a local came in who I was more concerned was possibly at the hostel for the wrong reasons. Perhaps they just need to be cautious of screening. I know it is part of staying at a hostel, but an option for even female only would have been nice. Otherwise, it was easy to meet people in the common areas and everything seemed pretty new and clean.

Unreliable staff and shuttle service

Prepaid hotel on hotels.com but staff insisted that we did not pay and wanted us to pay again. Had to wait for them to search the booking to clear things up. Arranged shuttle by hostel to AEP airport was supposed to cost 150 pesos, gave the driver 200 pesos but driver only gave back 30 pesos and pretended to not understand. Seems like the hostel does not book a trustworthy shuttle service

Pretty good hostel

This hostel really does tick most of the boxes of a great hostel. The location is great - easy walking distance to the microcentro, and San Telmo is a really atmospheric barrio. The staff all spoke English well, and there was plenty of chill out areas. The hostel was kept really clean and I did enjoy having my bed made for me everyday! I went on both of the free tours that they offered. The tours weren't great, but I appreciated them because they helped me get settled into the city, and meet a few people. The breakfast was sufficient - toast, 3 types of cereal and, um, cake. The kitchen was way too small, and under equipped to deal with the peak season numbers though. The beds in the dorm were really comfy, however they really need to fix that super squeaky bunk in room 504 (possibly the same one mentioned by a previous reviewer). Also, the shower cubicle was a completely stupid design. They are mixed dorms, which for me meant getting undressed, and dressed in the shower. But there's no where to do it other than right in the shower cubicle. And trying to balance on one foot whilst I pull my pants on, whilst trying not to get them wet seriously annoys me. But, other than that last little rant, top hostel!

couldnt' find fault with this place

We enjoyed everything about this hostel.. from the staff welcome on arrival to the breakfast in the morning.. this place is clean, comfortable and combines all the great things about a hostel with the comfort of a budget hotel.. as hostels go it's a bit pricey, but it's worth it.. particularly when you are staying a few nights.. they also have a free activity pretty much every day - tango lesson, walking tour etc.... loved it!

Good Value

Overall, America del Sur is a nice, clean hostel at a good price. We did not stay in another hostel in Argentina so I cannot compare it to anything. The location was good for visiting the area around San Telmo, and cabs were easy to flag down if you wanted to go to another part of town. The grocery store across the street was very convenient for snacks and drinks. The staff was very helpful, although they provided us with some wrong information about getting soccer tickets and my friend missed the game because it sold out. We really enjoyed hanging out on the patio and in the common area. The wifi throughout the hostel was an added bonus. Breakfast was very basic with a lot of bread products. Some fruit would have been nice. Room was fine, but the shower in our room was very tight and did not drain properly. We had an interior room, and on a Saturday night, it was still very noisy in the courtyard area.

Awesome, laid-back and friendly hostel

We loved our stay at America Del Sur. It's more like a sociable hotel than a hostel. Location: In the San Telmo district, 5-10 mins walk from the subway, and walking distance from great restaurants and bars in the San Telmo area. There's a supermarket directly opposite. Rooms: We stayed in a double room with ensuite bahtroom. Our room was clean, well presented and had a TV, fresh towels, shower gel in the bathroom and even a hairdryer! Our room was at the front of the building and you could hear noise from the bar over the road until quite late, but bring ear plugs and it's fine. Social areas: The communal areas are great, with a nice social space on the ground floor, an attractive garden/ courtyard, and a TV and computer room downstairs. The kitchen has everything you need. The hostel is very sociable but if you are looking for a 'party' hostel you might find this one a bit too laid back. It was perfect for us though (late 20s/ early 30s couple travelling around South America). Staff: The team at America Del Sur and happy, friendly and knowledgeable. They went out of their way to make our stay comfortable and to give us tips about Buenos Aires. They organise activities for every day of the week, which are a good way to meet people. Overall, we'd definitely recommend America Del Sur. It has won many awards and rightly so - it's the best hostel we've stayed at in South America so far and very good value for money.

Very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff. Hostel is central to many attractions or easily accessed by rail line which is close by and buses. Supermarket across the road was very handy. I highly recommend this hostel.

Highly recommended!

I stayed at this location after a recommendation from my nephews who had stayed there themselves. The hotel was easy to find. The San Telmo neighborhood feels safe. If you arrive on a weekend the area might seem deserted but be assured that it is bustling during the week. The area is also well service by buses and within easy walking distance to the subway. The staff was welcoming and friendly. The staff is multilingual and communication was never a problem. There is light airy reception area with a big comfy couch, tables, and an outside patio. There is a common room in the basement with a big TV, more comfy couches, and 3 computers with free internet access. My room was on the second floor and faced the street so it was noisy but I always wear ear plugs to sleep so this wasn't a problem for me. Light sleepers should ask for an inside room. My room was big and comfortable. Soft bed. Good lighting. Heater worked great. I found the big brass room key hard to use and was confused by the necessity of using a card to get the electricity to work. This required locking and unlocking the door from the inside which took some practice and was irritating. I also found the shower room style a bit messy. The shower was strong and hot which is what really matters. The best part of my stay was the great things the hotel offered - walking tours, BBQ night, knowledgeable friendly staff, cheap shuttle service to and from the airport, currency exchange.

Great hostel

Really nice hostel, with excellent, friendly staff. The common areas are very comfortable, and although they play music during the day, everything settles down by about 11pm. The only negative of note was that all the double rooms are at the front of the hotel which can be very noisy. I'd recommend requesting a room on one of the upper floors.

Vi hade ett privat rum som var rent och snyggt. Städades och bäddades varje dag. Trevlig personal som pratade bra engelska och hade all möjlig service allt från SIM-kort till att boka turer till event i staden. Köket hade vad man behövde och de gemensamma ytorna var rena och fina. Ligger i ett bra område som är lugnt och nära till tunnelbanor och bussar. Finns matbutiker i närheten och resturanger

Atendimento excelente, sempre atencioso, sorridentes e solícitos a todo os pedidos extras... Ambiente fantástico!!!! Quarto confortável, tudo funcionando... Só o banho que é um pouco estreito...

El lugar es muy lindo. La atención del personal es excelente, sobre todo Nicole, muy simpática y amable. Detalle para tener en cuenta: el baño no tiene bidet. La cocina de uso común es cómoda. Tiene un lindo playroom y patio. El desayuno (buffet)se paga a parte y es bastante básico. El barrio de noche es un poco oscuro pero se puede andar muy tranquilo. La estación de subte independencia (línea C y E) está a unos 500 metros. Realmente lo recomiendo.

Um lugar de boas experiências

O staff da recepção é muito atencioso e amigável. Fiquei num quarto compartilhado para quatro pessoas. O banheiro onde tem o chuveiro é bem pequeno e a cortina de plástico sempre deixa tudo molhado, poderia ser melhorado. A área de jogos é legal, mas tacos e raquetes poderiam ser renovados também. O sofá de lá também está bem gasto. O hostel possui local para guardar as malas, banheiros e chuveiro para quem ainda não fez check-in ou para quem já fez checkout. A cozinha é bem equipada com duas geladeiras, dois fogões e duas pias. Tomei o café da manhã uma vez e achei honesto, mas não bateu muito com o meu gosto. São oferecidos tours diários e algumas atividades como aulas de idioma ou de dança, o que facilita a integração da galera. Em resumo, o clima nesse hostel é muito bom e recomendo demais a estadia!

Só tem a cama

O hostel não oferece praticamente nada, sendo melhor ficar em um hotel, que oferece tudo (café, toalhas e sabonete). O preço não difere muito de um hotel, considerando ainda que o hotel dispõe de mais coisas. O atendimento do rapaz à noite é bem ruim também.

Excellent établissement

Spacieux, propre et confortable. Personnel serviable. Les casiers du dortoir (pour les effets personnels) sont très bien. Très bon rapport qualité-prix (si on profite du taux de change blue, évidemment !). Seul détail que je n'ai pas aimé : la cuisine partagée est trop petite pour une si grande auberge, et elle est assez chaotique car les résidents de longue durée y cuisinent beaucoup, y préparent des plats collectifs qui occupent tout l'espace, et laissent leurs affaires (ingrédients, condiments, etc) traîner partout.

스태프 영어 잘하고 친절함. 서양애들이 많이 지내서 그런지 다들 인싸력이 대단하다. 1층 공용공간이 넓고 충전할 곳도 많아 쾌적함. 방은 샤워실 화장실 다 있었고 창문에는 블라인드도 있어서 잘때 깜깜하기 푹 잘수 있었음. 사물함도 큼. 각 침대당 라이트랑 충전기 꽂을 곳 있음. 위치는 광장에서 꽤나 멀다. 몇 블록 떨어지면 버스 중앙정류장이랑 지하철역 있으니 걷지 말고 최대한 교통수단을 이용하자. 몇푼 안되는 돈으로 누릴 수 있는 호스텔의 정석.

Vriendelijk personeel, keuken om zelf te koken, mooie tuin, goed bed en donkere gordijnen. Ontbijt start jammergenoeg te laat (8u!) en geen oplossing voor vroege vertrekkers.

Muy buena opción de hostel en Buenos Aires

Las habitaciones son cómodas y están bien equipadas. El servicio es muy bueno, y también el ambiente en el hostel. La zona tiene muchos lugares interesantes para comer, cerca.

Melhor hostel de Buenos Aires, banheiros grandes, limpeza impecável em todos os quartos, todos os dias ao 12hrs existe um serviço de limpeza, seguranca também, pude deixar todos os meus objetos de valor, celular notebook tudo sempre solto em.cima da cama sem que nada acontecesse, os staffs são maravilhosos, sempre dão otimas dicas de tudo, alem de tudo isso ficar perto de diversos pontos turisticos e se pode ir andando a todos eles, principalmente Puerto Madero.

Tuve mala experiencia, a pesar de que se lo que pague, no me gusto en absoluto. Las instalaciones de las habitaciones son algo viejas, y no me gusto el trato del personal del hostal, no era para todos el mismo nivel de atención, lo siento, pero no regresaría a ese hostal, fui a otros con el mismo precio, y la atención fue estupenda.
