Wonderful

The hotel is in a fantastic location, a minute away from Syntagma Square and the Parliament, 100 meters from the metro and buses. The staff is courteous, efficient, and helpful with any matter. The rooms are good. The breakfast is wonderful and rich.

It was OK

The property has a great location and is right next to a lot of the public transportation modes (tram, subway, and bus). The property itself is pretty old and it shows - beds haven't been replaced in some time, bathroom had fixtures that were falling apart, etc. I had two primary issues with my stay: the property claims to have a fitness room and air conditioning. After checking in, I found out that the fitness room is just a bike, treadmill, and one poorly designed machine - no weights whatsoever. As to the air conditioning, you cannot control the settings of your individual room. For example, if the building's unit is on the heat setting, you cannot turn on the AC in your room. The temp they had the heat on was boiling hot and because of the limitations, I couldn't turn on the AC. The only option the property offered was to open the window; however, since they placed me on a busy road and the first floor, this wasn't an option. The staff at the property, including the manager, were all less than helpful with coming up with a resolution. Expedia Support definitely came to the rescue on this one. Be wary of booking this property.

Beautiful from start to end. Staff are really nice people esp the breakfast staff. They are all assets and gem. Especially Stavos. He is non-stop moving with everyone needs. Highly recommended this hotel! Best location. Thank you

Very good choice for Athens

Excellent location to explore the city, close to all amenities and transportation. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. The only major drawbacks would be the breakfast (a bit basic) and the fact that the temperature in the room was very hot, so much that we had to sleep with the windows open

The location was excellent but the hotel has become very shabby and requires an update. Soiled carpet holes in lounge chair etc. The staff on the front desk were quite aggressive when a complaint was made about the heat in the room. Didn't want to hear from us and said nothing could be done.

Ideal place to stay

Excellent location especially coming from the Airport with metro station 2 minutes walk away, room was very comfortable with kettle, fridge, plenty of storage etc. There are differences between what hotels.com advertise and what the terms the property have for payment but thats between between them and hotels.com to sort out. Short walk to monistiraki and plaka where there are shops, cafes and bars

Well located!

The location was good. Centrally reachable to most destinations. We had a slight problem with the hair dryer,which was quickly attended to by front desk. Otherwise, we enjoyed our stay.

Very nice hotel. Glad we stayed there and highly recommend it. Hotel is very clean and convenient and in a central location, walkable, with great restaurants nearby. Staff is wonderful and always ready to help. Good breakfast buffet. Room interior is a little dated and needs update, especially the shower! Overall, very good option.

Good location, great hotel

Hotel was in a great location easy to find. Got a upgraded room which was nice. Good view over the balcony. Sometimes bit loud at night but that is to be expected next to a road.

The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. We got a free upgrade to a balcony and a bottle of wine. The free breakfast was delicious and more food than you could try in one sitting. The roof top restaurant whispers was high end, with beautiful views of the city, exquisite cuisine and very romantic. I truly enjoyed our stay at this place even though it was one night.

Location is great.

The rooms are not very big, but they are modern, quiet and well equipped. The staff was very friendly, professional and attentive. We received a voucher for the roof top restaurant and I must recommend it. There is an excellent view on the acropolis and the whole of Athens and the food is delicious and service is impeccable. The breakfast is a buffet style but there is a lot of choice, the coffee is very good. Overall, this is an upscale hotel. Maybe not for families, but for couples or business, it is a perfect choice with a great location

I would Highly rate the Hotel Amalia! It was a wonderful hotel with an Amazing view from the Rooftop Bar & restaurant! The view while eating a delicious dinner at Whispers was Truly incredible! The staff was very courteous and helpful! The breakfast buffet was Fantastic! The most important thing the hotel was very convenient to the Acropolis, Straka, Pantothenic stadium and other sites! I had No Regrets about booking this hotel and would absolutely stay here again if in Athens!

The location and breakfast were good, but the room was a dissapointment, it had the view of a white wall. They don't give courtesy water and the carpet didn't look that clean. Also, after using the bathtube all the water came out of the drain.

Great location for everything. The staff were extremely good and helpful. Rooftop dining room was very beautiful and the food and service were excellent. My room was spacious. It could use new carpet and right under the restaurant, very noisy. Avoid the 6 th floor, although the view from the deck was amazing if you don’t mind a bit of noise.

There was a great view of the national garden and Olympic stadium. The breakfast was also a very nice assortment of foods.

The rooms were clean and comfortable. The free breakfast was amazing with both local and regional specialties. Service was great.

Fantastic location and friendly, helpful staff! My wife and I spent four nights at The Amalia Hotel in Athens prior to our cruise. The hotel is in easy walking distance to the top attractions in Athens and countless restaurants. Our room was spacious and had a good sized balcony. The roof top restaurant has an unbeatable view of the Acropolis. Our sunset dinner there was a highlight of the trip. We are very happy we chose this hotel.

Loved the cleanliness of this hotel. The location was excellent! Walking distance to the heart of Athens - restaurants and shops. The breakfast was above standard - lots to choose from. Only gave a 4 star for service as one housekeeper rude incident happened but definitely not a deal breaker.

This was a clean, safe place , close to all that Athens has to offer . The 7th floor restaurant was great, with a beautiful view of the Acropolis! Highly recommend this place , and if we are able to come back, we would definitely stay here again

Clean hotel in great location. Decent size room and lots of storage space had we been staying more than 2 nights. We were facing the park on the public transit stop and there was an event at the stadium Saturday night so it was a little loud. Great views of acropolis from the rooftop restaurant and there is an outside viewing area you can get to even if not dining or having a drink.

The hotel was very clean and convenient for our needs. The rooms are good, large bathrooms, full size tub/shower. The staff was very accommodating. The hotel will store luggage before and after checking in/out. There are no USB outlets in the rooms. You must have a USA/EURO power converter to change any device. The hotel does not provide them any longer as guests have taken the small supply the hotel once provided.

3 stars, definitely not 4. I don't know if they have renovated rooms but mine was extremely outdated with old, stained carpets. Bed was a little worn down but not HORRIBLE. Very convenient location to shops and restaurants. Right across a nice park.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Amalia Hotel Athens. It was very clean, the room was spacious clean and quiet. The majority of staff were very pleasant and helpful. We enjoyed dinner in the hotels restaurant on the 7th floor, the view was amazing, both in the daylight and once it got dark. Close to many restaurants, shops and attractions.

This was our second stay at the Amalia Hotel. It is very close to the Plaka, Syntagma Square & the Acropolis & museum. The hotel staff is very friendly & helpful. We loved the vast buffet breakfast. The rooms are somewhat small but very clean. The rooftop dining with Acropolis view is a must!!! I highly recommend this hotel!

The location is very good

The location of the property was perfect for getting around. The only minor complaint was my balcony only had one chair. Hard to share the experience with my wife, and when I requested another chair it never came. We had to use a chair from the room instead. Small inconvenience. Overall I would stay again and would highly recommend the hotel to friends.

The staff was very helpful with getting us taxis and directions and were able to get us into our room early , since we had flown in early morning. The breakfast buffet was fantastic. Highly recommend.

Everything within walking distance

We arrived late here in the evening and staff greeted us by name and were very welcoming after our long journey. We were booked in within minutes. Great location to explore and breakfast was great. Highly recommend.

No body lotion..no shower cap. Hair dryer doest work, no soap in the shower...only shampoo. Not even one drawer. Cardboard glasses in the room...No milk or cream for the cofee..,The worst Mercure I ve ever been to

Central location near all the sites. We walked everywhere. Close to Sintagma Square and a beautiful park acrossed the street. Hadrians Arch and the temple to Zeus nearby.

Great location in the heart of Athens, you can walk to major attractions and shopping centers. Great views from rooftop restaurant, excellent food. If you like seating area to view the Acropolis you need to make reservations in advance. Breakfast is also very good.

Very nice hotel. Everyone was friendly and helpful. We liked the central location. Noise was our only negative. We were on the 6th floor with the restaurant above us. At 11:30 pm, it sounded like they were moving furniture. I’m sure they didn’t realize how the noise was carrying.

The manager, Dimitris, and the staff were exemplary during my stay. I came with a group of 12 travelers during a global IT outage and the manner in which they handled the travelers was very kind and patient. I would definitely stay here again. In addition, the view from the rooftop restaurant is absolutely stunning!

Amazing Location and Price, Breakfast was A , Very Kind Staff. Bathroom was extremely tight. Difficult to open/close door while inside, AC didn’t work great (our room with full AC stayed around 24 degrees staff provided a fan which helped with the heat). Considering the location, I still enjoyed my stay

From the wonderful and super friendly and helpful check-in, to breakfast, to the truly amazing rooftop dining, this place was 10 out of 10. And its location couldn’t have been any more central.

Staff was GREAT, perfect location, the new roof top restaurant “Wispers” is very nice with prefect views! The only thing that would have made it better would have been to have softer bed… but other than that the stay was a 5 star for sure

It is a perfect location within walking distance of major historical places. Walking distance to Plaka where you can find multiple dining and shopping stores. Friendly and helpful front desk personnel. We were upgraded to a room with a balcony and received one bottle of wine as a gift. The room and the bathroom were large size and clean. Breakfast was also included in the price!

Great location. Staff not so good with check in. couldn’t find our reservation as first names backwards. so they just said oh well. We had to insist they check again an provide an email verifying we were indeed booked for the night. Prior to this we were quite happy as first night we were upgraded. however was stressful as they told us we had to leave in the am cause second part of our stay they couldn’t find.

The Amalia Hotel Athens is in the perfect location and very convenient. The rooftop bar/restaurant is beautiful and the staff are EXTREMELY friendly and helpful! The staff arranged transportation for us when needed too. We enjoyed our breakfast each morning and the price of the hotel was really good - great value.

Good location

We chose Amalia for its central location. Accessible to key nodes of transport from airport and within walking distance to the Acropolis and key landmarks. The only grouse is that the bathroom is really small (even for Asians)! The toilet bowl is like very near the bathroom door which cannot be opened if someone is using it or standing at the basin.
