Basic accommodations with excellent view. Restaurant was very good and buffet breakfast had a lot of choices.

The property is a good base from which to explore the area if you have a car. Breakfast is plentiful with a wide variety. Beds are somewhat comfy. Access to fridge is available if you ask. Parking is free. Fairly quite at night but rooster’s will get you up in the morning ready for the next day!

Fantastic hotel always welcoming. I hope to stay there many more times. Lovers love ❤️ Complainers our only happy when they do. For only a 3 star hotels I think it offer much more than its rating. The Dining room and panoramic views are a major wow factor.

Very pleasant and quiet Hotel, with an amazing view and pool. Rooms are simple but very clean and spacious. the Staff is very friendly and really wants to help you at any time.

This is one of those special, out-of-the-way places that makes a vacation fun and unique. The staff was helpful and courteous, the food was tasty, and the views were outstanding. Our room was quaint but tidy, and the grounds were inviting. Best of all, the rate was perfect for our budget. I highly recommend the Alte Hotel to anyone visiting the Algarve region!

Charming 3☆ Hotel that provides a lot more than is expected. Staff friendly and helpful. Food fabulous. Views from the dining area rightout to the coast line. An unbeatable vista. Gardens arranged with many seating areas, that offer private cloisters as an alternative to just sitting poolside. The Alte hotel is a secret jewel that I will be visiting again and again. Love it.

A storm in Alte

Stayed at this hotel 6 times and always have a comfortable stay. This last visit was during a storm. The hotel was warm and comfortable with no impact on their usual great customer service. A special mention to the young lady on reception whose friendly bubbly personality shone through. Finally the restaurant has never failed to serve up quality well presented food.

Lovely staff and the hotel is situated well for visiting other areas of the Algarve. My only criticism is that the tv in our room was ancient and incapable of satellite reception.. we requested a replacement but it never arrived. Otherwise I will recommend this hotel if you want peace and quiet. Exceptionally clean throughout.

Very nice, clean, good breakfast. Lot of stairs & shower head kept falling off. Moving furniture very early in the morning. No shampoos, just soap. Basic essentials!

Traditional and a bit past it’s best, but comfortable enough for a few nights. Thin walls - bad news if your neighbors like to watch TV at full volume ( luckily I changed rooms). Friendly and helpful staff. Nice pool. Isolated and about 1km from the small village of Alte. Can be windy due to being high up in the hills.

GREAT LOCATION

An older 3 star hotel located in a rural hilltop with a small village nearby. A good restaurant and friendly staff who are compently multilingual. A very relaxing stay.

The 30 room Hotel Alte is situated in a quiet and peaceful location 300+ metres above sea level with far reaching views. The property is in need of updating but was clean, the staff were all friendly and helpful and, for the price paid, our stay was good value for money. Rooms have air conditioning, there is a pool with a lawned area for sunbeds, a tennis court a snooker table and a restaurant serving breakfast lunch and dinner. We were more than happy with our stay and may well return the next time we choose Portugal as a holiday destination. Despite some previous critical reviews we read, any concerns we had were unfounded. Fantastic value but don't expect 5 Star luxury. Do expect a quiet unpretentious hotel, away from the tourist hotspots, plenty of parking and with staff who all work to make sure your stay is enjoyable. From 2 very satisfied senior citizens.

Stayed here before but feel hotel lacks leadership. Staff friendly and food good in fact breakfast has improved but no one in charge to put any niggles right.

Lovely spot, good food

Helpful with 24hr reception. Location excellent on hill with great views, close to long distance path, village a shortish walk away. Breakfast ok but not special. Room fairly spacious but furnishings a bit staid and elderly. Restaurant limited choice but good at what it does, hearty main dishes in regional style with good meat and fish.

Lovely stay, enjoyed the hotel , nice and quiet, with a lovely village nearby . Only about 30 minutes from albufeira. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was very good also

Good stay

The Hotel was tired due to its age however that did not spoil our stay. The hotel was clean, the staff were approachable and friendly. Breakfast was a little disappointing and basic, the evening meals were AMAZING. 5* all the way for the evening meals. The village was small but quaint. The Fonte was beautiful. If you are looking for a relaxing time away and hustle and bustle this is your place.

Quiet, peaceful Hotel

Helpful staff. Comfortable beds although one was really 'squeaky' when ever you moved! The Air Conditioning was very efficient but it leaked and was a little smelly-this was dealt with by management during our stay. Lovely pool and surrounding gardens with spectacular views. Adequate, varied and well stocked continental breakfast.

Rustic Algarve

Great scenery,plenty of good walking and hiking trails,good food for value restaurants. Nice area to escape from the busy beach scene down below.

Quiet and comfortable hotel

The hotel was a little dated but the views are fantastic. Would recommend hiring a car to get about. Nice selection for breakfast. Pool area was very pleasant. A really relaxing break but really steep hill walk of 15 mins to nearest village. We hired a fridge for the room which was really good.

A most quiet and relaxing break, very pleasant staff very helpful, food was very good, locally produced wines available, black pork, squid kebab most enjoyable, good varietyat the continental breakfast, comfortable room very clean, powerfull shower albeit over the bath, good beds no back ache,view over the clean pool with small terrace south facing, over the pool, although, the garden rooms also overlooking the tennis courts were good, would have loved to have stayed longer, cannot wait to return, good.

Ideal as a peaceful getaway.

A late booking for some sun and relaxation. Hotel Alte ticked most of the boxes. I marked it down because of an uncomfortable bed and tired bathroom. The staff are great, the pool is good in a suntrap garden. Free WiFi throughout is a bonus. Great location away from main tourist areas, a car is a must if want to sightsee. Good food and also good local restaurants nearby.

Great value and very friendly staff

I stayed at this hotel for 1 week. The staff were very friendly and spoke Excellent English. The facilities were clean, including the pool and tennis court, and the food in the restaurant was excellent. I would say the only gripe is the uphill walk to the hotel from Alte village (15 minute walk). I'd definitely stay again.

View to DIe For

On arrival we received a lovely, friendly greeting and were shown up to reception, where our keys were waiting for us. The room was a little smaller to what we were expecting, we had gorgeous view of the hillside (even though we did ask for a pool view). We would have liked tea/coffee facilities and maybe a chill fridge in the room. The hotel is up on a hill and as mentioned before there is a 10-15 minute walk to the nearest village. The restaurant on site is lovely, especially the steaks and lamb, we had a fussy eater with us and they accommodated her perfectly. A special mention for the staff as they were so friendly and helpful, giving little tips and suggestions to make our stay more enjoyable. As a lot of the guests had cars with them and would go off for the day the majority of the time the pool was ours exclusively. If it is a relaxing holiday this is the ideal spot if you want nightlife go elsewhere.

Fantastic location, lovely hotel, recommended

The hotel itself is staffed by a lovely group of people, who made our stay a pleasure. Even when I accidentally broke our room key, I was simply told "it happens", and the receptionist refused to take money to replace the key. The room we stayed in was a great size, with a lovely balcony which overlooked the pool and half of the Algarve. The room had a shower/bath with brilliantly hot water, air conditioning included (it is quite common for hotels to charge extra for this), and we paid 10 Euros to hire a mini-fridge for the week (which was placed in our room) allowing us to store our own food and beer, which was fantastic. Our room was cleaned every day, with the bed being made, towels replaced and the floor cleaned - a service which goes above a lot of 4* hotels I have stayed in, and truly appreciated by us. It is so nice to walk into a cleaned room every evening. The pool is lovely, refreshing and kept clean. The garden area next to the pool is fully equipped with deck chairs and umbrellas for shade. There is also a large indoor and outdoor restaurant area with the same breathtaking views, as well as a small "games room" which is pretty empty, but I noticed it being used by some parents with young children. There is also a tennis court and beach volley-ball court - both are free to use.

Great if you want to get away from the world!

This hotel was a bit of a surprise. It's in the middle of nowhere, which is something that pleased us, and the staff is of such kindness and helpfulness like I've rarely seen before. The breakfast was good, the swimming pool refreshing and the silence revitalising. If you don't care that much with old fashioned decoration and a hard bed, this is the ideal hotel for you!

A estadia foi agradável. O Hotel está um pouco desatualizado e a água perde constantemente a pressão. Mas tem uma vista e os colaboradores são muito atenciosos.

Uitzicht is prachtig en het personeel is supervriendelijk en behulpzaam. Dat maakt goed dat het meubilair echt z'n beste tijd gehad heeft, ook de badkamer zou een opknapbeurt kunnen gebruiken. Prullenbak was kapot en de schuifdeuren maakten mega veel geluid bij het openen en sluiten. Liften ook oud en vrij klein. Maar nogmaals, het personeel verdiend echt een 10 met een griffel!

Hotel con mobilio un po' datato ma nel complesso molto carino e pulito! Servizio buono ma le strutture esterne tipo il campo da tennis andrebbe ristrutturato. Necessaria la macchina in quanto dista mezz'ora da Albufeira ma la tranquillità del posto ripaga dei km. Buono nel complesso!

Endroit idyllique, très belle vue car l'hôtel est un peu en hauteur. Vue sur les orangers et Montagnes. Chambres un peu chères car obsolètes...La restauration est maison et est très bien.Le p'tit déj à été un peu décevant car 1 demie heure après son ouverture, plus de jus d'orange ni de lait chaud et personne à qui demander ! Dommage Odeur d'égout très désagréable également dans la salle de bain qui se répand dans la chambre...

Es war Ende der Saison und ich wollte was anders erleben, d.h. abseits des Tourismus. Das Dorf Alte liegt in der Gemeinde Loule (sprich nicht in Loule selbst). Das Hotel lag 700m vom Dorf entfernt. Es hatte einen wunderschoenen Ausblick und war total ruhig. Das Essen war sehr gut und das Personal war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Das Dorf war klein und fein. Typisch und authentisch. Es war was Besonderes.

The place is good but to windy. Breakfatsis very weak. Not to much to choose. The cleaning ladies do not show respect with the guest making lots of noise at 8.30 banging doors. Recptions and bar staff very nice. Rooms very basic but clean.

Mycket trevligt hotell i fantastiska omgivningar. Bra frukost med det man vill ha. Mycket bra service och tillmötesgående personal. Restaurangen håller hög klass med mycket bra mat. Enda som kunde varit bättre var sängarna i det rummet vi hade. De var inte komfortabla. Vi återvänder gärna hit. Egen bil är dock ett måste för att bo här.
