I feel for the price you get what you pay for and more. The only things I think need to be addressed is the cleaning of the pool needs to be done more often and safety to who comes in and out of the property could be better. Overall though I was pleasantly surprised and I would stay there again due to the location. It was noisy but if you want quiet you shouldnt stay on the stripe.

Great location .

The location was the key for us, it’s near the beach and close to our favorite restaurant. What I didn’t like was that while paying for the package they said that if we add $8 more we would have access to the spa. Upon arrival there were no spa and the hotel was not aware of such transaction, and said we have to contact Expedia regarding same. There was only an independent shop that you have to pay separately for a manicure or pedicure. Now Expedia is giving us the runaround and won’t give us back our $8. So if you are book, please don’t be fooled by Expedia.

Hotel is located on a very busy noisy street. It's across the street from a public beach (with lots of garbage) but crossing the street is hazardous. It's walking distance to the hip strip, Doctor's Cave Beach There's always loud music from the spa or the bar next door so be sure to bring ear plugs. We didn't have any hot water for the first 2 days of our stay. I would have appreciated the staff to inform us of the issue at check-in. No compensation was given for the situation. Even once resolved, the water pressure was low. Most staff members are pleasant and friendly but a few appear to be annoyed at the presence of guests. Be sure to securely close lock your room door and use the in-room safe. A man tried to come into our room while we were there, when confronted he said he had the wrong room.. but an instant later asked if I could 'help him'. He then roamed elsewhere and sat in the lounge area. When informed of his presence, the hotel staff escorted him out. The room was small and could use some freshen up. The bathroom door didn't close completely and we had to remind the staff a few times to bring us clean towels after they took away the dirty ones. The included breakfast is convenient, basic and rather small.

I came for a funeral and was not really caring about the place i stayed at. But the hotel was beautiful, so quaint and comfortable. The room was big and the AC was fantastic. The housekeepers did such a good job keeping the rooms and public spaces clean. The included breakfast was great the 3 times i had it. The staff were all nice and polite. I would definitely go back again.

Hotel is a very nice boutique hotel. Great location. Hotel is 2 minute walk from the Hip Strip. It’s right across from the beach. In walking distance of the souvenir stores, restaurants, clubs & casino. Free Jamaican or international breakfast. Rooms are updated and very clean. Exceptional staff. I’ve stayed here many times and never had a bad experience. I recommend this hotel!

The guest hpuse is clean but somewhat outdated. The staff was ok. They offer free breakfast.

Property was old bed makes a lot of noise street noise, doors are not sealed double pain window is of no use if the doors need sealed Air just going out. The property needs help did not worth the price breakfast was fine towels sre old room smells as if it was looked up gor awhile. I would never recommend.

Altamont West is located centrally to the Montego Bay Hip Strip, Beaches and walking distance to Downtown Montego. Pelican Grill restaurant, Margaritaville Club, Coral Cliff Entertainment and Doctor’s Cave beach are all in convenient walking distance. In addition there are multiple souvenir shops located along the Strip for shopping.

My stay was great. Room was clean. Ocean view and located close to pretty much everything that’s needed.

It was safe and just need a facelift

Room looked nothing like the ones online on their website. Room was clean but looked dated. No hot water in shower. We showered 2 days in ice cold water before we left early for another hotel. NOISY....the traffic passing by the hotel is loud and you can hear it in the room all night. Bikers and cars zooming by all night. but worst is a night club next door plays music allllll night until 4 am. The speakers from the club sounded like they were laying in the bed beside me. The dj would interupt the music and talk to the audience all night. After night two i used their wifi which works well and booked my self and children into another hotel which was all inclusive. If you want comfort go to an all inclusive especially with children. If you just need a room to sleep at night then this is a good spot besides the loud noise. Free breakfast was good. Tasted good. You have a Choice between jamaican or american breakfast. Lobby is open to the breeze. Cool but mosquitos were biting us when we sit out there. Pool was dirty and looked like it needed cleaning. At night there is nothing going on here and if you order dinner from them you gonna pay 25.00 us dollars minimum per person and it was not good. Rice and peas was extra soft. Curry goat had no flavor. This is a good stay if you are on a budget and need somewhere just to sleep. No elevators. Watched elderly couple struggle to go up stairs to get breakfast. They stop to rest on stairs. Ac in room was good. Security present.

Well it was my first time there, I have stayed in the one in Kingston over the years, but don’t like this one in Montego, the building inside is a bit too dark and dull: rooms could do with a more modern look. But over otherwise the look location is so wonderful.

Overall, I enjoyed the stay, very attentive staff. The staff were friendly, kind and helpful. I really enjoyed knowing that breakfast came with the stay, that was a plus for me. Upon, the next visit I know where to go, The Alamont West Hotel. Thank you so much!

Staff was very polite, i was in contact with them prior to my arrival. However, i only got to sleep there one night of the 5 nights booked & had to cancel being that i stayed with extended family for the remainders, of my stay. They gave me no problem cancelling the remaining nights that i booked through Expedia & did receive my refund. The rooms were okay but clean, the only thing wrong with my room was the bathtub didn't work only the shower. The rest of the property was decent. They will charge you $25 a day for additional guest, so make sure you put the right # of guests when booking your room. If my family didn't want me to stay with them, i would've been okay there for the remaining nights & the complimentary breakfast i experienced once was good at least the Jamaican one, the American breakfast could've been much better especially the pancakes. However, i would book this property again.

Best Service Ever!

The Good: The service is wonderful, the restaurant is a delightful surprise (even if a little pricey), and the location is convenient. To be improved: The floor in the shower needs a good cleaning. The somewhat bad: Music from outside of the hotel is very loud. Overall, I enjoyed my stay and thought that it is a very good value. I would stay there again.

The location is amazing, it's centrally located. My room was very close to the road and the traffic at nights could keep a light sleeper up but I had no problem falling asleep

Close to the hip strip - quiet hotel - safe - room we stayed in had no windows but it was nice and dark - cool and comfortable . Breakfast was nice - the view from the open balcony was nice to sit and have coffee.

This is my go to spot! Very clean, the staff treats you like family, warm atmosphere. It's on the Hip Strip and close walking distance to all shops and restaurants. Worth every dollar.

Stayed here with my family for five nights. We had three rooms which were very clean and the staff were excellent. Break fast was good but could’ve had a little more options. Location is great ,with the beach across the street. Want to give a shoutout to Tameka, Danieka and Sasha from the front desk. These ladies go above and beyond to make your stay exceptional! Marcia and Cassandra in the restaurant . The lady that cleaned our rooms during our stay . Juliet in EVS and the two young men that does maintenance. Also, Mr Robinson the daytime security. These people are all keepers! And they make your hotel shine .

Great location with beautiful and quiet public beach just across the street. Walkable distance to Montego Bay town, short ride to the airport/Knutsford Express. Nice room, very good breakfast was included, staff friendly... Overall great experience, recommended.

The hotel is efficiently managed. Checking in was quick and easy. The location and proximity to the airport, beaches, entertainment spots, parks and playground for children make it an ideal choice in the city. The rooms were clean and the beds were very comfortable. The hotel provides a complimentary breakfast and offers a choice between local and American dishes. The staff was very efficient and friendly. I would definitely recommend this hotel for a vacation.

Transferred here for our last night to be closer to airport. Walkable to tons of restaurants. LOUD!!! Do not go here and expect sleep. Lots of music and traffic (trucks, motorcycles, loud horns) sound. Rooms are tiny and basic. Bathroom had a roach in sink. We got outta there early! Breakfast was amazing, waitress walks slowly and doesn’t speak too much. A/C is nice in dining area, wait there for your room to be ready.

Great property - definitely an older, historic hotel, but that's what gives it charm! It's located directly on the main road in the Hip Strip of MoBay, so there is definitely traffic noise. Staff was wonderful, and helped us to extend our stay by two days when a flight was cancelled. They also connected us with two great drivers/tour guides and made excellent recommendations for local restaurants. Their on-site restaurant was excellent as well! Wonderful 2nd floor balcony/patio area to hang out and chat with other guests. Nice private pool and patio area out back for cooling off and enjoying Red Stripes. Definite traffic noise from the road, and from a major dance party that happened next door (only one night). Excellent central location - great for accessing all of MoBay's attractions. Definitely recommend!

Wonderful classic hotel! Very close to the hip strip, overlooking MoBay - so there is a lot of traffic/club noise (bring ear plugs if you’re a light sleeper). Extremely convenient location; nice small pool for cooling off; open-air lounge/patio area overlooking the bay and street - great for relaxing and people watching. Our room did not have exterior windows, which was actually great for sleeping (quiet, dark, and cool). Secure parking area with an attendant who was friendly and provided good dinner recommendations! FYI no elevator - stairs required - but a staff member was available to help with carrying luggage up. We absolutely recommend this hotel!!

Room was super small for two people. We were charged &25 for extra towels and rags. The location is close to a lot making up for what the hotel lacked. Also the staff Cassandra and Brenda were very accommodating and made our stay all the better as well.

Great place to stay because of convenience and location to have access to different area. It right on the hip strip and offered walkable access to beach, restaurants, shops, and into town if needed.

I didn't meet a single employee at this hotel with a negative attitude. Everyone went out of their way to make sure that i had a relaxing vacation. The only thing that I would change is to list the property as having designated smoking area. Again thanks for hospitality that the entire staff showed.

The building was quaint, located on the hip-strip, walking distance to Doctor's Cave Beach, restaurants, bars, clubs and souvenir shops. Great view from the hotel balcony. My room had no windows to see outside and was small. When you opened the entry door, the bed was visible to the outside. There was not enough space to fully open two 28-inch suitcases. The free breakfast was tasty but was a fixed plate. Substitutions cost extra. My server brought whole wheat bread instead of white as I requested, then argued with me that I stated incorrectly. She was displeased with me. I decided to eat breakfast down the road at The Pelican thereon. A request for 2 bottles of water which were supposed to be provided at check in, became an issue, we had to wait for someone to verify that we had not gotten it earlier. The lady who sat outside to ensure we crossed the street safely had the most pleasant demeanor - always smiling. Some of the front desk attendants were pleasant and helpful.

I stayed for 5 days with my daughter and had a pleasant experience. The staff was polite, my room was clean, the entire common areas were cleaned every day, thanks to all the custodial staff for all you do, breakfast was always delicious, kudos to the chefs, I enjoyed every bite of my "yaad food" the waitresses they were great. I liked the convenience of the hotel's location, walking across the street to the beach, walking to restaurants & shops, to the park, relaxing on the patio, meeting other guests from different countries & cultures, talking with my fellow Jamaicans. It was awesome! Overall, a pleasant experience. I will definitely stay there again.

It's a decent place for what they offer. The place is clean. Staff service is average, wouldn't say they are good or bad.

It is very run down, need overhaul in every aspect, room floor dirty, furniture needed dusting, Big up Jonel the receptionist and Sheldon the maintenance.

The hotel was located walking distance to everything including the hip strip snd margaritaville. Great for shopping and going to the beach and close to the airport. I didn't like that that even though it says can room four the rooms were small. Even though the bathroom looked remodeled and clean and neat it was small

The male at the receptionist was not helpful. I need to change a 5 US$ to pay for a taxi and was not willing to do so

Conveniently located, value for money

I felt our stay was great the hotel staff was very helpful and kind. Breakfast was great. The taxi service that they use meet us at airport and Eric drove us everywhere we needed to go told us places to go as well as places to stay away from. Eric and the hotel staff made our vacation great. We will be back again.

Just cozy and amazing

The front desk staff greeted you with a smile upon arrival and tried to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Staff provided insight on best modes to get around the MoBay area. Denise, Denika, Pauline and Tamika all tried there best to make the stay as smooth as possible especially with the limitations they faced. They found towels and sheets when the hotel was out. Providing my family and I with times to come and enjoy the early complimentary Caribbean breakfast before it was all gone. To allowing us to stay an hour after check out because my child was sick the morning we had to leave. Our stay was 6 days out of the booked 7. Our flight had been delayed, I wish the hotel could have done something such as a partial refund but overall for the cost of the stay, the free breakfast and the team continually cleaning and up keeping the place I would rate my stay a 5.5 - 6. However, a few things I’ve noticed and overheard that brought the rating down. In any case I would say if your a traveller on a budget looking for a spot just to rest and explore try Altamont. It’s not a resort, but fair for the price.

Other than flying in and out not sure why anyone would chose to vacation in Montego Bay. This hotel is fine for one night. Room at the top of the stairs and there was a motion sensor light that went off. Door didnt close very tight to that was annoying. AC points right at your head. Most important, bathroom didnt have a door and the room had been renovated. Guy who helped with our bag was lovely.

Not a good place to stay!

We were given the worst room possible #207. Not very friendly check in. Ugly room, noisy, leading to a balcony where people hang out drinking, smoking and talking. Breakfast OK, but if you want a second cup of coffee, be prepared to pay $4. Crazy! Not worth the price at all.

Great location, great customer service. This is my second time staying here. My only issue this stay is my room was up front and heard noise all night. The only quite time was between 3am-6am. I say this so if you stay here and your a light sleeper like me, request a room in the back or away from the road. Other then that, this place is nice.

Great hotel!

This place was great. Keep in mind interior rooms do not have windows, even though room description says garden view. Not a problem for me, as I needed to get some sleep. My complaint is directed at Hotels.com, not the hotel. Parking and breakfast are complimentary for ALL guests. Hotels.com (Expedia) has decided to start making more money by offering a higher room rate for free breakfast & parking...not cool! Also, the hotel had me sign a receipt when I checked in. The room rate plus tax was a total of $102.00. The amount I paid by booking thru Hotels.com was $140.00. Also not cool! This was my secret price by booking thru the app. I think my long relationship with Hotels.com is coming to an end...

Customer service was great. Easy check in. I really enjoyed the included breakfast every morning that was very helpful especially before heading out in the road. This hotel is very close to the Hipstrip. I was able to walk to MargaritavIile, & Doctors Cave Beach. Good AC, Nice TV with cable, huge nice comfy bed and bathroom. Nice, safe, convenient, affordable place to stay in the beautiful Montego Bay! ❤️#datisit! 🇯🇲
