Very quiet, easy to find. Handy to Newmarket shops.
An older style motel but rooms were very clean, staff were very helpful, plenty of parking and we enjoyed both dinner and breakfast at the restaurant.
Found it hard to breath in the room due to the amount of dust, there was hair left in the sink from other guests and what looked like black mascara on the pillow. We left 30 minutes after checking in and stayed somewhere else.
Building is very old
For the price paid and location, it was great value. Obviously dated, but clean and cosy. Would stay again.
Great staff
Reasonable price, very comfortable bed, large room. Very good value.
Great location, clean and tidy rooms and really helpful staff
Older style building but clean comfortable and staff were wonderful. Close walking distance to shops . Would highly recommend if your not looking for 5 star accommodation. But still clean and comfortable, with lovely staff. Restaurants and cafe included so option for dine in available.
Close to Eden park for concerts, room a little dated but the beds were comfy and the room was clean. Staff friendly and helpful with taking lathes suitcases uk the top floor rooms.
Friendly reception
The build up of dust on the bathroom skirting boards had to be months worth - bathroom also very musty, possibly mould present.
Good location. Property could use a renovation, however it was clean
Great location and tidy, spacious room. Good parking and friendly service
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Amazing pressure in the shower.
Staff were rude
Room was clean and spacious, plenty of parking. Close to transport options. Happy to stay there again
The staff is amazing here! Very friendly and the cafe is convenient. Rooms were very comfortable and clean. A must stay while in Auckland.
Convenient location. Given proximity to motorway and general traffic it would be better if there was sound insulation tape around doors and windows. Thanks
Very old and noisy occupants in nearby units
Very convenient location to stay. Close to Mercy & Auckland Hospital, Newmarket Westfield Mall and Motorway. Staff friendly and helpful. Property is old but very clean and tidy including comfortable beds and good linen. Free parking a bonus.
All good after the towels supply got right
Nice and tidy but dated .
Pretty good place to stay at when visiting
Pleasant and quiet stay, comfortable and clean
Over all, happy with this property
This property was clean and the inside of the rooms in good condition - but at NZ$190 per night, I think you could find better value in the CBD.
The room was fine, had everything I needed - bed, bathroom, TV, lock on the door. It was clean and smelt clean and dry. Check in wasn’t that great - the lady was grumpy and terse and I hadn’t realised beforehand that they were going to charge me a bond. It’s right on a busy road and the traffic noise was a bit of a killer for sleep. Also, on the corner by my room seemed to be the place for the smokers to hang out - wasn’t that stoked as I could hear them outside my door at all hours.
Great place will definitely stay again
Great location and friendly stuff centrally located near public, transport and shops, and a stone throw from the city Center
Thank you so much we will return
always enjoy stayinh here, handy to everything we want and easy parking.
Great location, good bed.
Great location, helpful, friendly informative staff. Good facilities. Short drive to Sylvia Park & Central Auckland.
A pleasant surprise l
I've stayed at Alpers a few times a cpl years back. This trip was a pleasant surprise. Nicer rooms, clean & comfortable.
The whole place is a bit shabby and needs a serious refurb. Holes in the wall not repaired, very dodgy sky box perched on top of the tv and not secured and unsafe cables hanging down. Dining room has tacky cheap decor and food service is slow
No wine glasses. No plug in bathroom basin and this seemed n insurmountable problem for the manager in charge. He unlocked the door for me to the guest laundry and lo and behold... No plug in tub. I just wanted to do a wee bit of handwashing. Sue
The flexibility to change rooms was excellent. The room was sufficient and comfortable. The wine was old as the bottle's had been open too many days. Staff did not understand or have an appreciation of the finer points about wine. 5 days open, far to long. Would not open a fresh bottle. Also would not open the sliding door allowing fresh air to flow. It was a hot evening.
I have stayed several times and is my chosen place to stay when I am in Auckland on business or leisure. I like the place because it is central walking distance to Newmarket. It has a restaurant where I can have my breakfast and dinner. It is clean, quiet and safe
It was close to everything and the staff were very friendly
Could book last minute. Was very clean and accomodating, and well priced.
Clean, modern and it’s better than the pictures on Expedia. But you can hear next room if they play music loud you can hear what song they’re playing. You can hear people talking next room. If you want quiet night maybe not for you. Shower was nice and clean but water leak from the door onto the bathroom floor. Impossible not to wet the floor. The toilet brush next to toilet was dirty and brown. The room is spacious and clean tidy.
Staff were very friendly.
The property was average for the price we paid, some rooms looked nicer than ours, the outside is a bit tired, the fridge didn't work froze and ruined all our food. The staff couldn't find my booking, and then chased me up to leave after I had paid for a late check out.
Really comfortable bed, clean room, though quite dated. Good quality linen and towels. Very friendly check-in process.
We arrived after hours but the check in process was easy to follow. I was travelling with my elderly parents and they gave me a room next door. Unfortunately my parents had problems with the front entrance but I got them in, luckily in the morning we found another exit out the back. I did find the Carpark dark at night. The staff were friendly.
It was a great stay for armageddon. Only 15 mins from asb showgrounds and there is lot of stuff around!
Was adequate for our stay. Have no complaint
Liked: AC was great Disliked, very uncomfortable bed, pillows, bathroom and tiny parking lot Food was bland (wedges, eggs, toast)
Just a little untidy
room was clean and comfortable, within walking distance to the Newmarket town centre. The room was reasonably priced. The only downside was the quality of the wifi connection, which was terrible. My son needed to use his laptop to study which was not easy withe the quality of the connection.
older property but in good condition, was perfect for location, very handy to mt eden for exercise, great host very helpfull thankyou ,
The location of the property was really convenient. The staff was good and helpful.
We liked the option of staying in the charming character of the original native wooden original building which had tastefully inserted all the new bathroom facilities and kitchen options. The owners are very welcoming, and the restuarent has a nice atmosphere in a quaint old style which is very homely.
I like that it's easy to get to and has good parking facilities and the staff are friendly.
Convenient to Newmarket. Free parking
Perfect location!!!
Perfect location for us go everywhere. Just heavy traffic every morning and start just after 4pm near there.
Perfect location
Perfect location and room for us. Easy access every where you go.
It was in a great area and the staff were really nice. The room was very cold though which wasn’t great and made for a difficult nights sleep
Reasonable cost for central location
Great overnight work stay. The basics were met but property could use more of an upgrade now Carpark. Gardens etc
I stayed for two nights, I had privacy, it was quiet, I cannot fault the cleanliness, the staff did a good job, I didn't put 5 stars for the condition because it is an older building and not a 5 star hotel, therefore it is as good as it ought to be. It is on a very busy road during daylight, and my room was quiet enough even though it was fairly close to the road.
Was very disappointed with Alpers Lodge After booking on line I arrived about 830 pm and was given a key to my room opened the door to an unmade room, went back to the office the manager didn’t believe me and didn’t want to come and have a look at first then he did and after seeing that the room was in the state it was he said it would take about an hour to get an other room ready so I went and had some dinner and went back the room he had ready was nice but like a fridge with no heating NOT HAPPY
Nice little unit but poorly maintained- cupboard handles falling off, window fasteners falling off. So little needed to fix these things yet no-one has. Very poor sound insulation between units - particularly under interconnecting door. These should be removed. Loud talking next door for 45 min at 2.15 am spoilt the experience.
Hi, Definitely convenient room plus parking. Could of cleaned the spider webs on the ceiling. Otherwise perfect
.
All OK
It was very convenient and quiet. Shower and bathroom was awesome. But property was a bit dated, the surface of the parking area was difficult to park on and the area was too small. 50 Sky channels but movie channels were extra - send a little mean. But otherwise a great place to stay.
The soap dispensers in the bathroom were off and smelt when I went to wash my hands and hair. the bathroom smelt in the morning as well.
Very comfy bed, conveniently located short walking distance from Westfield shopping centre and Mount Eden.
Comfortable. Good for price. Close to city.
Property was clean, though probably overdue a lick of paint and some repairs. Friendly staff and the site is walking distance to NewMarket shops and main bus links. A bit noisy with young kids (long-term Lodge residents?) yelling and hooning about skateboards and generally having a great time, but only mildly annoying. I would happily stay here again.
This is ok motel for overnight stay
Clean and tidy. Breakfast included in our room. Perfect for busy overnight stay.
Good parking easy outdoor area for smokers lists of outlets
Spacious & Clean
This was a great central location in Newmarket and not far from shopping centre. However it is very dated and no milk for a cup of tea?
Room was nice and clean carparking is alittle tight but was good for the night
Stayed one night car parks a bit tight for bigger cars however central to train station as we were going to a concert eden park. 277 Westfield great for a bite to eat excellent shopping. All in all location great.Rooms clean and tidy bed comfortable great for a night.
Good service, friendly staff
THE PHOTOS NEED UPDATING , THIS IS NOTHING LIKE THE PHOTOS SHOWN , ID SAY THEY 20 YEARS OUT OF DATE , THE OWNERS ARE NOT WELCOMING INTO THERE POOR CONDITION HOTEL
Clean and handy to Newmarket, walls not soundproofed so pretty noisy
Good price in great location
Was a last-minute short stay. Convenient location. A bit dated and nothing fancy but price-value still good.
Great Overnight base
Stayed here many times. Excellent cost effective base. Good condition if a little tired
The room was okay, bed was soft, pillows were comfy. Bathroom was a bit small - but we were just there for the night so it was perfect for what we needed. Would stay again.
The night manager is unprofessional and verbally attacked us from across the carpark rather than coming to our door and notifying us of our noise levels. He stood outside our room and recorded an audio as proof, again, rather than communicating in a professional manner. He made us feel uncomfortable and I highly recommended that no one books this accommodation. I was travelling solo, booked a room that accommodates 3 and was told by reception I was not allowed visitors. We were given a 9pm noise restriction while we could hear other rooms enjoying their stay.
Everything was clean and tidy , for the price was wonderful
Very comfortable bed, good value for money
Friendly checkin and staff
They said check in time is 2pm but our room wasn't available until 3pm, beds were quiet hard to sleep on
convenient location near Westfield shopping mall and train station. Friendly staff. Room is a bit old but neat and tidy.
First room we were shown did not have a locking window and it was a full size sash window, so very easy to climb through. We were given a second room for the same price, but very noisy with people upstairs above us easily heard until 11pm. They started up at 5:30pm, and had a fight at 6pm and lots of banging, crashing, swearing and glass breaking. Only go to this place if you need some noisy excitment and don't care about sleeping.
Very dated
Good location
Although the property is old it was very clean and tidy. Facilities in the room well maintained and comfortable bed and pillows. Walking distance to New Market shops, cafes and restaurants.
A very convenient location to get around Auckland, shops & movies there. The Broadway Diner has been used each time. Value for money which is hard to get these days.
Close to everything, Westfield around the corner was helpful, public transportation very accessible. Close proximity to cbd.
Location was great central
