The beach is lovely but eveything else is not! The staff are so slow to do anything like check in or serving food. And the mould in the bungalows is unbelievable. Every pillow was covered in mould as was the bathroom, which also smelled awful. Breakfast was good although variable, one day a baguette and the next day just some sliced bread. Lunch and dinner were unbelievably slow- we were literally the only people there and it took an hour and 20 mins for lunch to arrive.
John and Veronica are very helpfully and like to share there knowledge of Tanna. Thanks I would definalty come back
Beautiful spot, isolated, comfortable.
4 bungalows run by a happy, wonderful couple. Short drive from airport. Bungalows need some maintence but comfortable. Beautiful spot, isolated but lovely managers provide all meals if you want. Taxi services available.
Thanks so much to our friendly hosts, really enjoyed our stay. Basic accommodation but no need for air con in Tanna so perfect with a perfect price.
Alofa was great. John was fantastic, amazing location.
So wonderfully friendly, welcoming and natural. Beautiful surroundings, pristine white beach with happy locals & traditional outrigger canoes going out fishing everyday. Great local food, big portions at reasonable prices. All staff were so kind and generous & went out of their way to make us feel at home. Tours were easy to organise & some could be adapted for us to walk there. Thanks so much to Matthew Sam, Jean Marc, Veronique, Maisie, Robert & Joylene for an unforgettable experience :-)
No fan and moldy bread
Im not sure how hotels.com figures the same ars, but regrettably i hve to give 2 stars, my lowest rating to date on this site. It could be so awesome, but the difference really is the people. #1. No fan, it says fan, but then there is none. When i asked for a fan i was greeted with contempt. Tanna is really hot and humid this time of year. A fan reall does make the differnce getween good sleep and not good sleep. An australian couple next door also suffered the same fate. LAme. Moldy bread for breakfast. Are you serious? When i told the lady, she looked at me with a blank face, and did nothing about it. In all my travels. . . . My sweety asked for coffee, when after ten minutes it was not forthcoming, she asked again, and the lady rolled her eyes at her. Seriously?? Mind you this was first thing in the morning. The food was on the wrong side of average. I dont know who put in their review that the food is good, maybe someone who had been stranded on a desert island for three months? A great location, could be so nice, as it is way overpriced, it really does come down to the people who run a place. Too bad. Overpriced. It should be $30 us per night, then i wouldve given thre stars.
Wonderful staff, beautiful location
Staff looked after us very well, lovely food and a comfortable room
Secluded yet comfortable
I read other reviews about Lizzy's fabulous cooking, but unfortunately she was away and won't be back until December. However, her daughter, Sabrina, and husband Sam cooked tasty meals, although they were not genuine local cuisine, and the portions could have been larger. The room was adequate, however there was no place to either hang or store clothes. That could be easily addressed with a few wall hooks and hangers, so I hope they will heed this advice. A small dresser would have been welcomed, as there is room to accommodate one. Be sure to spend time during low tide at the tidal pools which are about 200 yards from the Bungalows. Of course, Mt Yasur is not to be missed! They can arrange this and other tours via other providers. I will try to remember to post photos when I return home in two weeks.
Beautiful setting with village feel.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Really enjoyed being at a place run by Ni-Van people. We enjoyed being able to talk about local schooling etc. feeling like we have more insight into the local people. Bearing in mind that Tanna is not as developed as Efate or Santo the accommodation was excellent. We were able to have hot showers so long as we let staff know when we wanted them. Our bungalow was spacious with a veranda facing the ocean. Mosquito nets provided. Food was good and reasonably priced. Beach access is very easy and the gardens around the bungalows well kept. We enjoyed walking along the beach past villages.
Being next to the village instead of being trapped in a resort was great. John is a fantastic host. Go with him and rely on his advice. He will show you real Tanna.
