Simple stay in Dahab
The hotel is quite simple and run by very, very nice people, but the quality of the hotel was a little low. The entry requires a key, but the front desk is not staffed around the clock - a phone call is needed (which is hard for foreigners to make). The room is also quite simple with limited hot water and means of staying warm (no heat and few blankets). Nonetheless, the people running the hotel are very nice and attentive. Since it wasn't extremely expensive, I can't complain too loudly. :-)
We were surprised to find that despite the good ratings for this hotel, our experience was poor - we did not get basic amenities (towels), a lot of the breakfast items had gone off from lack of refrigeration, the contact details on the website were outdated. Upon arrival, we discovered that the hotel had recently changed management which explains the decline in standards. The property said that it offered a transfer service from the airport. We tried to contact continuously (both calls and email) the day before we arrived but nobody responded and the manager denied receiving the emails even though we used all the contact details on the site. We gave 30 minutes notice of our arrival (which was after check in opened) but our room was not made up (and there was only one other guest). We then were not given any towels on our first day, and only received one towel after reminding the manager several times on the second day. It took a further 24 hours to get another towel (we were two guests) and the manager seemed surprised we needed a towel each. There were also no toiletries in the room, the bedding and the mosquito net had burn holes in them. The breakfast selection was very poor and dairy products were left out in the heat for hours at a time (and overnight). I opened one yoghurt and a box of juice and they had gone off from heat. The manager was mostly absent and only replied to messages (after giving her number) after considerable periods of time.
We had a prepaid reservation for 3 days at Alf Leila. In 2 prior emails and one phone conversation, hotel personnel promised to have a taxi waiting for us at Sharm-El-Sheikh airport. After waiting an hour and no taxi from Alf Leila, we found one. When we got to the hotel about 4pm, noone was there, although lobby hours were supposed to be 10-7, and we were confronted by a locked door! Luckily, another patron was on their balcony, we begged, they came and let us in. We waited another hour, finally Luba, the owner, showed up. She was apologetic, said she vaguely remembered email and reservation, but she must have then forgotten it. The room was OK, location a block from the beach good. During our 3 days the room was never serviced. Although Luba promised breakfast at 8am, the day we needed it, she didn't appear til 8:30, she had overslept.
Fantastic stay in Dahab
Great location for the local amenities. Superb service and incredible breakfast. Secure and quaint decorations. Very friendly staff. Convenient large fridge and balcony for drying swimwear.
Nice quiet hotel
Nice quiet hotel with friendly staff and good servervice in walking distance of everything you want.
Great atmospheric boutique hotel with nice service
The hotel is very nicely done and the rooms are very pretty and tasteful. I recommend upgrading from the basic rooms though, that brings a lot of extra space and comfort and the price difference is not huge. Hotel service was great and I really felt that the staff were happy to help in any way they could, whether it was about room facilities, late checkout, or finding my way to somewhere in Dahab. The thing I liked least was location; Alf Leila is about 5 minutes walk from the sea, and while that's not a huge distance Dahab is so small that it felt far-ish sometimes.
good location, quiet, easy access, comfortable bed
Friendly host and Awesome hotel
I really loved to stay in hotel during travel. there was comfortable as home .I am appreciated to stay this hotel in dahab. Host luba was so kind lady and helpful .when I went to Mt.sinai she made the delicious lunch box for me. If I visit to Dahab .I'd like to stay this hotel again.
kleines feines Hotel
Es war sehr schön
Gorgeous little boutique hotel with an exceptional hospitality. I choose one of the sultan suites from the balcony facing the beautiful tranquil innercourt and I loved the decor and little details witch is rare to find in Egyptian hotels. The plush towels, Egyptian cotton linen and a great mattress was a treat too. The pictures here doesn't do Alf leila justice, much nicer in real. Thank you Simone for your kindness and flexibility. Hope to be back sometime soon

After booking and paying, I arrived at the property to find the gate locked. I called and Whatsapped the number written on the gate and was completely ignored. I ultimately gave up and slept on a friend’s floor. To date I have received no acknowledgement from the owner. I find this rude and highly discourteous, especially for a host in the hospitality space in a place like Dahab. Doesn’t surprise me that she has a reputation for mishandling guest relations in town.
