Beautiful Hotel, Disappointing Maintenance
The room was beautiful, and the bed was comfortable, but there were noticeable maintenance issues: the toilet flush broke with every press, moisture in the ceiling fell on us during the night, and the conditioner dispenser was empty. Service was disappointing. We arrived for breakfast at 8:45 (starting at 8:30), but the buffet wasn’t ready. Only hard-boiled eggs and shakshuka were available. When I asked for other options, I was told that’s all there was. Yet, 30 minutes later, the staff made omelets for guests who arrived after us. Also, reception was often unmanned, and we had to call for assistance even during staffed hours. The hotel grounds, however, are beautiful and well-maintained.
We really like the property and the staff is very nice. The surrounding area is amazing and peaceful.
It was a very charming facility but some times to not have all the amenities that we would desire. We had to request breakfast the night before, and it was only certain types of food. They forgot to clean up the room one day. It was quintessential Israel and would’ve been better for just a couple of days as opposed to eight nights.
I believe that the hotel tries to ensure he eat guest experience but when we arrived early after our flight the lobby was closed and we. Couldn’t drop our bags. We had to wait until checkin 6 hours later. Then when we did check in, the room was very dark… with no extra lighting. Also, breakfast was noted to start at 8 am. We showed up at 8:15 and breakfast was not ready. We had to wait an additional 20 mins for breakfast to start. The breakfast staff was so nice. But reception staff did not go above and beyond. We also planned to book a massage . We requested the massage at 9 am and the front desk said they would let us know within the hour. They never contacted us and when we went back to the front desk they said they could not get in touch with the massage person, and that was that. No sorry! Nothing. I will not be staying here again. Especially for the price we paid
The Atmosphere it’s great
Great stay
Wonderful!
Great stay
Was amazing and private, beautiful hotel and also view. Very good breakfast!!!!!

Perfect
Charming unique boutique hotel in a beautiful neighborhood of Jerusalem. Charming romantic room with a lot of character. Great staff - super nice, kind and attentive. Perfect stay.
We got a room outside the main property situated badly and the door of the room is opened directly to the street. The noise of the cars running on the road made it impossible to have a quite sleep at night. This room may be used if there is no other room, while we ordered it a week before, at it was disappointing!
Alegra Hotel
It is a very nice hotel in a beautiful area. However, there was no food or bar service available, despite the pictures on the website, as there chef left and has not been replaced. Overall a good place, but quite pricey for what we got. I would go again if the prices were lower.
Great hotel in amazing location
Amazing little hotel in a beautiful area. Nice rooms, great roof top.
One night in a lovely boutique
The Alegra was beautiful. The staff was so sweet and the breakfast buffet was fresh and delicious.
Great ambience, wonderful location and beautiful view from porch. We saw that many customers rated the breakfast as amazing. The hotel used to make a chef breakfast using the kitchen in the hotel. We ere given a voucher to a bistro next door. The breakfast was average or less. Everything else was good. We recommend the hotel for a romantic vacation but we were disappointed with the breakfast.
l\the hotel is located in a very special place , breakfast is very good.
Alegra is a hidden oasis in a most picturesque village. The story behind this hotel is heartwarming . Worth reading on their website. The place is beautiful. Breakfast was special. We had a spacious room very comfortable. The place has tons of potential. It could use a bit of pampering but the grounds are great. Wonderful views from the rooftop. Secret little corners on the ground floor where you can sip a glass of wine or a coffee in the morning. I have been to Ein karem before but this time staying at the Alegra made the ambiance all the nicer.
Not worth the price
The room was not worth the price
Lovely Hotel
The Hotel was very quaint and enchanting! The staff were helpful at all times and made our stay very pleasant.
An amazing architectural gem. You feel the history . The staff is unbelievable. The food is amazing and creative. Worth every penny.
Something special for relaxation
Great location, exceptional and spacious rooms, breakfast prepared by chef in front of you. Access to hotel with public transport not easy.
The Hotel is architecturally beautiful. The staff, the Chef and food are awesome. Everything was very pleasant except for the upper deck on the roof. It could of stood a good cleaning and some better furniture; thus becoming a real central location of the hotel for wine, company and friends. But its hard to nail everything....good hotel and I would recommend.
Typifies boutique hotel in the most positive ways
Typifies boutique hotel - great location in a charming neighborhood, unique rooms with limited amenities. Overall, fun experience if looking for something slightly off the beaten path.
Nice & comfy, excellent food, very friendly staff
I will come back to stay there again, I like the food and the location, cozy comfy and clean, with very friendly staff
I don’t recomnand!
The room was very small, without spaces the hotel charge me more than I have been told, the only good thing was the breakfast
Too far out of the wast with traffic. Staff so-so and not much help. Nice restaurants in the area
Great experience in Jerusalem
Great experience. Lovely location! Breakfast was great - food & experience.
Amazing find in a peaceful surrounding!
The boutique hotel is amazing in a beautiful village just outside of Jerusalem. So peaceful!! The rooms are huge and uniquely appointed and the staff so friendly & accommodating.
Great vegan breakfast that the chef went out of his way to make got us. Wonderful tranquil garden
Nice atmosphere, beatiful location, but the price
Arrived, nice room, nothing to write home about. Nice food. Not worth the price paid
Wonderful
Just wonderful. It’s an extravagant bed and breakfast style, from our room we could hear people in the hall, but other than that, the place is impeccable. The area is charming, and the breakfast was just amazing. Will absolutely come again.
Alegra Boutique Hotel
Excellent ambiance, helpful, friendly staff and superb breakfasts
Not what I expected
The room is right on the road, so noisy. Reception representative is in only until 23:00 so each guest receives entrance key for the hotel.
My husband and I booked the Alegra for 6 nights and were pleased with our stay. The hotel is charming and well appointed with a beautiful garden and grounds, and rooftop deck. The bed was comfortable, and the rain-shower and soaking tub were a fabulous way to relax after a long day spent touring Old Jerusalem. My one complaint was that the room did not come with an iron. We were able to request one, and I did see that the hotel offers a laundry service, however it would be convenient to have an iron and full-sized board available in each room for those of us who have traveled from overseas. Breakfast was served every morning made from local fresh ingredients, and the chef was very accommodating and offered to make my husband and I breakfast even after 10:30 AM one morning. Our final night there, we had dinner at the hotel. I'm vegetarian and was able to request a plant-based meal when we made our reservations. This place is a hidden oasis with a beautiful view and access to local restaurants, a place nearly untouched by time, however it is a bit of a drive into Jerusalem. We were able to have a taxi called for us daily, but those wishing to be closer to the old city should note that Ein Kerem is anywhere between a 20 minute to 45 minute long taxi ride.
Excellent
Relaxing amazing couple getaway
Overpriced. Overrated. Pretentious
Having searched extensively for a nice place to stay for my last few days in Jerusalem, I finally settled on the Alegra Boutique, and booked a signature suite. I was expecting a characterful, charming, well detailed and spacious room in the hotel, from where I could explore Ein Kerem and other parts of Jerusalem away from the main centre. The room was in a separate building to the main hotel, and was cavernous, soulless and without charm, with miserable art on the walls. Breakfasts were pretentiously presented, tasteless and bland. Though some of the general staff were pleasant and helpful, the manageress of the hotel appeared arrogant and unwelcoming, and did nothing to make me feel welcome, as one of the few guests in the hotel at the time. She seemed thoroughly uninterested in my request to change rooms to something inside the hotel itself, and a bit more 'intimate', as I was staying there alone. I had had great expectations of this hotel, and had been very much looking forward to my stay at the Alegra, but found the hotel overpriced, overrated and pretentious. I was disappointed with the experience and would not recommend.
Authentic and relaxed with great Breakfast.
Very relaxing stay. Rooms garden and roof terrace are all great to chill out. Very helpfull staff and delicious brakfast. Definitely recommended as long as you have a car.
Unique hotel in historic neighborhood
Spent 3 nights at the Alegra in October 2015. This unique hotel is in Ein Karem, an ancient village neighborhood in Jerusalem. This is a very safe area - we had no worries walking around day or night to the many local restaurants and historic sites. The hotel is in a historic building, the rooms are huge and the breakfast wonderful. The front desk service was exceptional. We loved Jerusalem and the Alegra. Highly recommended.
Overrated hotel
The building = Boutique Hotel and nice gardens, calm and refreshing The room = Small and common B&B style, hard to get into a huge bed due to wood benches surrounding it, overstuffed pillows, no separation between toilets and room (odors!!) The staff= friendly and competent B'fast=OK but would prefer a freshly squeezed orange in the land of Jaffa oranges
Unforgettable great boutique hotel
Excellent location Great atmosphere, lovely garden Excellent breakfast Great service Noisy A/C in the room, I am sure they will fix it....
Stay on the main building
The hotel is very nice and special. It is beautifully designed and the food is very good. But our room was not in the main building but on an outside building on the road and that wasn't the atmosphere we wished for. at the reception they didn't want to hear about replacing our room.
A hidden gem.
This is an authentic Jerusalem place. It was exactly as I expected in how it looks. The grounds are lovely.
The most romantic getaway
Fabulas hotel in a charming spot. Great service and a uniqe cheff resturant
A stunningly charming oasis!
I am very picky when it comes to hotels...cleanliness, service, style, decor...I notice it all. Alegra was truly perfection! I hope to make it back one day. It really is a special place.
Best hotel
Was great
Almost perfect
I will start with saying we had a great time and enjoyed our stay very much! The hotel is beautiful and located in one of my favorite spots in Israel. The food was great as well. We had the chef dinner which was fantastic and the breakfast which was the most unique breakfast I have ever had in an hotel. The only negative feedback I have is regarding the room we got at the begging - When arrived, we got a room that clearly has a dampness issue, with a very strong and clear smell of mold. This room should not be offered to guests under any circumstances (and we were celebrating an important event and I even called the hotel few days in advance making sure they are aware). This is not what I expect from a hotel with such a high self esteem. After talking to the team, the room was exchanged in no time but this was not a great start to our visit.
Lovely Property
We arrived and were greeted by the nicest receptionist, who showed us to a beautifully refurbished room, every aspect of which had the feel of high-end luxury and definitely "real botique". Hotel itself is a restored 19th century building and done with great care and excellent taste. Very interesting art pieces throughout the hotel and the gardens were so pastoral. A real escape from the daily grind, but less than 30 minutes from the Old City. Best breakfast with (finally) good coffee.
Relatively to what hotels offers, too expensive.
great location, very good service. Relatively to what hotels offers, too expensive.
