Perfect stay!

Brilliant location, could see the ball drop from our living room, which was exciting. The staff are all so friendly, would highly recommend staying here. The location is obviously brilliant, but the convenience of having a kitchen and laundry when away for an extended period of time can not be understated.

AKA Times Square staff are friendly, warm and accommodating. Great space and prime location. Accessible to everything- subway, restaurants, supermarkets, broadway shows. A hidden gem!

Great Times Square Hotel

This hotel was amazing. It was comfortable, everyone was friendly. It was well situated to visit all of Manhattan. Very little noise heard from adjoining rooms.

Nice room

enjoyed my stay. Room clean a little work on the kitchen cabinets and the bathroom door but overall nice. Modern decor comfortable. Location was amazing could walk to many things. I would recommend this hotel and will stay there again. A small note if you upgrade make sure you look at the fee which is in addition to the new rate, I was disappointed by that because I was not info there was a fee to upgrade the room.

Great location, 30 seconds from Times Square, perfect for a four day tourist visit. Superbly clean and modern, staff always friendly. Two bedroom suite was a good size and well-equipped. It worked really well for a family of four as a quiet refuge after the long hot days of NYC tourism. Only minor downsides to note were it was very dark with no views at all, but that is not uncommon in NYC and the upside of that is there was no street noise at all in our suite. I prefer silence over views. The other oddity is the 'Terrace' which exists, but was completely empty of anything (no chairs) and they don't have a rooftop bar either, despite the website talking about both and there being signs inside to both. They should either use it, or turn it into rooms. That said there's not a shortage of bars nearby. I would stay again and recommend.

Great location to subways and time square with staff always helpful and accommodating to our requests. Would definitely recommend and will definitely stay there again.

Brilliant location, fantastic suite, really friendly and helpful staff, we were upgraded due to us celebrating my husbands 50th birthday and there was also a bottle of prosseco chilling in the fridge for us with a birthday card. These little touches all made for a fantastic stay. Wouldn’t stay anywhere else in New York now.

Excellent experience

Our experience at AKA Times Square was excellent. The superb service, accommodations, and location helped make our visit to NYC a great experience. We appreciated the location in the theater district, convenient to activities, restaurants, and shops, yet far enough from Times Square that the street was not busy or loud. Subway access was just 2 blocks away. The suite was comfortable, nicely appointed, and quite spacious with a separate bedroom. It was nice to have the full kitchen for breakfast and late night snacks. BEAUTIFUL lounge. Parking deck conveniently located across the street. Highly recommend!

Housekeeping needs to be more predictable.

Aka a great find

This hotel had a very excellent location and a great urban yet welcoming vibe. We were always greeted by the staff with smiles. They have a chill lounge upstairs that is a quiet retreat if you need to escape the kinetic Times Square/Theater district energy. We loved how we could walk to our theater the night of the big show. Highly recommended!

Terrible!

Terrible service at checkin, bad attitude from front desk staff Danzel, not even greeting you with a smile or Hi! After home, found out they charge me again even though I have already fully paid when booking through hotels.com. Still getting the problem solved through my banks and AKA!!! Emailed AKA and they aren’t helpful at all in resolving the problem. The apartment is old and tired. The bed frame is broken in one of the bedroom, with mattress almost 10inches smaller than the bed frame. The airconditioner is not working during the entire stay, they provided a fan!! The lights along the kitchen aren’t working, reported it to the technical staff on duty, never fixed during the 7nights stay!

You Should Try This Place!

We were impressed by the size of the room for the rate charged and the consistent congeniality of the desk staff. The hotel is nicely located half a block from Times Square and easy walking distance to theatres and restaurants. There is a Whole Foods five minutes away to stock up on food for eating in, and the room has a full-sized refrigerator, stove, microwave, toaster, dishwasher, and washer and dryer. Direct tv gives access to wide range of programming. Room was clean, shower great, and beds comfortable. As in all NYC hotels I’ve ever stayed in, you will hear some street sounds, but they did not disturb our sleep. Staff was very attendant to our needs.

My 4 years of searching is over

I travel to NYC a lot for business. This is the first hotel I’ve found in 4 years that I want to stay at again and again. Perfect!

Great location

Great location, in the centre of all the action. Friendly, helpful staff to greet you (and when/if needed), but also left to your own devices. We stayed in a studio and it had everything you could need, nice & spacious, washing machine & tumble dryer (used), while kitchen (partly used), separate 'office space' where we stored all of our shopping! Only slight downside (although it didn't bother us at all) is that the street noise can be quite loud, but it's to be expected in the heart of the city. The area also felt very safe. Would definitely return!

If you want Times Square this is it!!!

Not much of a downstairs lobby but a nice layout upstairs… HUGE Penthouse suite… Amazing area, the day we stayed there we bumped into Ice-T who is filming Law & Order SVU in the restaurant next-door.

Honestly hesitate to write this review because I don't want the place booked up the next time I go back. Other than an issue with charging extra for a rollaway bed (which was cleared up in a wonderful manner by the hotel- NOT Expedia), this place was fantastic. Huge room with 2 separate bedrooms and a den, over 700SF with washer/dryer, daily cleaning service, full kitchen including Subzero fridge/freezer and GE monogram dishwasher. Plenty of robes (at least 5) and fresh towels. Upstairs lounge to wait (we arrived on the redeye) and freshen up and again wait before departing for the airport if you have a PM flight. Staff was incredible, always a "yes," for every question. Helped with subways and pretty much anything else. Clean, beautiful bathroom. Located in the middle of Times Square but completely quiet. Really a great stay. Would absolutely stay again.

Good and bad

Check in process was rest and after coming in on a red eye they were able to accommodate an early check in for me. Room was very large and interiors were pretty good. On the flip side, the AC unit was incredibly loud and at times kept me awake... and the unit itself was loud from either guests in an adjacent room or workers nearby.

Very conveniently located

Well located to Times Sq.. We walked or took the subway to all the tourists sights. 5 minutes walk to Wholefoods supermarket. The kitchen was well equipped for cooking. ÀKA is very modern and well run.

We had a wonderful stay. Cesar was the most helpful and friendly door man we have ever encountered. We were upgraded to a two bedroom suite and it had everything we could ever want or need. Management resolved a charge issue that we had discovered after we left immediately and we appreciated that very much. Location was ideal for everything but far enough away to not be disturbed. Loved everything about the AKA and we will be back!

Great apartment with super staff

Excellent accommodation in every way, location, size, cleanliness but I have to say the staff were particularly great, couldn't do enough and both door and reception staff greater us every time with welcoming smiles. Thank you

If you're looking to stay in New York and can't decide what hotel to stay at, stop your search right here. This place is excellent! Very large rooms; very friendly service. Before I left for New York, I noticed some negative reviews about noise. I was shocked; we heard no noise whatsoever at night even though we were only a half a block away from Times Square. I wish there were one of these in every major city. I plan to stay here again when I revisit New York.

NYC at its best!

Great location just off of Times Square. The staff was fantastic and very accommodating. Room was clean and very comfortable. It was at least double the size of any other hotel room we have seen for the same price. Only negative was the size of the bathroom and not good lighting for applying makeup. We can live with that. We would definitely stay there again.

Nice room

The Penthouse room was great. Part of the lobby was under construction and the walls and baseboards could use a fresh coat of paint or touch up in some areas...otherwise nice courteous staff and great penthouse room. The elevator could also use some sprucing up. The hotel is also a bit dark throughout..brighter lighting would be great.

Sensational location

Sensational location and beautifully fitted out. We even had a washer and dryer! Staff were helpful and very friendly. We will be back!

I love this place!

AKA Time Square is great! The service is excellent and the suites are well appointed. I really enjoyed my one bedroom apartment. It's large for an apartment in midtown and has nice finishes. I wish there was Kleenex and Q-tips in the bathroom like most hotels, but I understand that since this is an extended stay facility, it might not be feasible. I like that I can have guests over, have food delivered, and pretty much use it like my home away from home.

Wonderful staff

The staff at AKA are fantastic. We stayed in 2 different rooms this trip and the second room was VASTLY inferior to the first. The heat didn't work. The window shutters were broken to let in light from tge surrounding office buildings. The toom itself seemed like it had been redesigned and wasn't working properly. The layout was just a mess. That said. The location is perfect. The staff are wonderful. And I WILL be back

Nice location. Stayed in deluxe suite w/ample space. Couch needs updating..not so comfortable. Kitchen well equipped but w/out paper towels. Price is good for room type.

Close to most attractions

AKA Times Sq is perfect for business and Leisure. 10 blocks from ESB and Macy’s and close to a lot of other major attractions Located between two subway lines, 4 min walk to whole foods

Large suite around the corner from Times Square

Great location and a very spacious room. The downside is that the suite was very dark with little natural light. The staff were excellent - very friendly, professional and accommodating.

Great Potential!

The staff at the front desk is very nice and accommodating. The housekeeping department, however, lag quite a bit. Yes, the bed was made and new towels but the room was clearly not vacuumed, mopped and coffee was never restocked. The building itself is great but the wear and tear is becoming obvious

Time Square AKA

Would have been rated higher but unfortunately the heating broke for about 36 hours and it was cold in NYC. In fairness the management did compensate.

Perfect location. Lots of space.

Very nice hotel. Location couldn't be better. We were travelling with our adult daughter who slept on a roll away in the large sitting room. This arrangement was less expensive than two hotel rooms and we got A Lot more space. No coffee in the room was a disappointment but the kitchen is fully stocked and I could have brought packets from home. Coffee was available in the PH but I don't want to leave the room for morning coffee. Would definitely stay there again and would recommend. We had heating and hot water issues but the hotel was responsive in correcting these issues.

Cold New York

Although the hotel is pleasant and convenient, they had trouble with the heat and it was cold in our room much of the time. It was cold in New York and this made it worse. We have stayed at several AKA hotels and generally they have been good if we have children or grandchildren staying with us.

Location, Location!!’

A really nice place with very spacious rooms and most convenient location. Despite being just a few steps from Times Square it was surprisingly quiet. Close to subway, shops, theatres etc. The furniture in rooms are a bit used up but all together still in good shape. I will definitely stay again!

Large rooms, nice staff but lacking vibe and food

Lobby is small but nice however no vibe....other than quiet. A little music and vibrancy could go a long way. Elevators were dark and a little slow but worked. Rooms were large but not overly comfortable. Furniture could use some throw pillows to relax on but it would take away from the minimalist vibe. If you want space, this is the hotel! We booked a 2 bedroom which had plenty of extra area for suitcases, stuff, shopping bags etc. Kitchen was well equipped and a great way to avoid overly price breakfasts. Whole Foods is 2 blocks away and very convenient to stock up. No spices though (not even salt/pepper which would have been nice). The one washroom was small, could use a thorough clean around the shower but overall quite nice. Location is nice being midblock away from Times Square and the madness but quite central to a lot of other attractions (theatre, Rockefeller Center, Bryant Park and Grand Central). Lounge on the top floor was nice but again, sterile. Some music would help. Coffee was always fresh and free apples/oranges that we stocked up on before heading out. Sign in the elevator called it a bar which would have been great after a long day but I guess that was from a time past. Access to food at the hotel would have been ideal for the nights when you don't want to cook or go out but I guess you can't have everything! Overall, a nice hotel. We would stay here again.

Perfect location for theatres, Times Square etc.

Fantastic intimate hotel right in the middle of New York City life. Times Square, Bryant Park, theatre district, restaraunts but still quiet and accessible. Staff efficient, friendly and helpful. Helped print off online tickets. A little dark in lobby and elevators, and it would be nice to have an ice machine either in the rooftop bar or IN the hotel. Definitely will return and recommend aka Times Square.

Comfort in the Heart of Times Square

Certainly can't beat the location. It's literally steps from Times Square, the public transit and everything you want to do in New York. The beds were comfortable and the layout of the apartment was very nice. Would definitely stay here again.

Theatre district aka hotel vs other aka hotels

Location was great if you are a tourist to the city and plan to take in one or more Broadway plays. Other than that, this aka hotel is inferior to the other aka hotels in terms of how it is sandwiched in between other buildings in the block. Other aka hotels in the city are in better neighborhoods and not as overshadowed by larger buildings. On the positive side, 44th St is a very interesting street in both directions from the hotel. Many quality bars and restaurants, plus the Algonquin Hotel, made famous by the New Yorker Magazine, plus the legionary New York Yacht Club, Harvard Club, and other college clubs are on this street to the east, and more theaters plus interesting restaurants to the west.

I want to be able to get a booking next time I’m in town. So it’s a bit more than some hotels, but you get a kitchen and separate sleeping areas and a washing machine. And a lounge upstairs. Sometimes on a long trip or a rainy day you just want to cook plain food, stay home and do laundry. It’s quiet and safe. Staff outstanding.

AKA Times Square.... a fabulous place to stay.

AKA Times Square was a fabulous place to stay in Times Square. Only 150 metres to the corner where Good Morning America is broadcast this apartment Hotel is 3 + times larger than other hotel rooms in the area. It has a full kitchen as well as a washing machine and drier which was very handy as we stayed for 12 nights. The 24 hour desk staff were very pleasant and helpful and gave us many handy tips for exploring Manhattan. Thank you. The hotel does not have a restaurant or bar however there are many within the street so they were not missed. If you require your bed made daily or room service then this hotel is not for you but if you are looking for the most comfortable and convenient place to stay in the heart of Times Square then AKA Times Square is the ONLY place to stay.

Nice hotel right in time square

Great location in heart of Times Square. close to train station. Hotel needs some more lighting in lobby as does the elevators. My unit needs an updated a/c unit. Bathroom needs either some more shelving or counter space for personal items. Extra bedding should be in linen closets. I wasn't able to pull blinds all the way up to get a view of city. Was only able tilt them. Overall stay was very pleasant. Staff was great, very professional. I'd recommend this place to friends.

Great apartments and excellent location

I stayed at the AKA Times Square for 9 nights and absolutely loved this place. The one bedroom apartment was very spacious and had everything you needed. They even set up the roll away bed for my daughter before we got there so we didn't have to worry about anything. The free coffee in the mornings on the roof top was great. Location is smack bang in the middle of time square and close to all subway stations. The staff were so friendly and helpful every single day. The only downfall about out stay which wasn't AKA's fault is that there was construction work being done near by and we could hear drilling and banging at 3am - but I guess that's New York - city never sleeps. I'd highly recommend staying at the AKA and I would definitely stay there again.

AKA Times Square was absolutely great! The staff there was the best I've experienced for any hotel I've ever stayed. I would caution though, if you're booking through hotels.com, you should call the hotel afterwards and make sure you're getting the room that hotel.com advertised. This was NOT the case with me. But, the AKA staff came through and put us in another room that was what we had wanted (amenities-wise). Thank you very much!!

Nicely upgraded hotel

The hotel was very nicely decorated in a fairly modern design but some of the furnishing were more for design than comfort. The chairs in the bedroom looked real cool but not made for comfortably sitting. I felt that the bed was very hard. Very large flat screen TV's. The location was great, a half block from Times Square, The staff were very nice and remembered my name each time I moved through the lobby.

Excellent location, well appointed rooms, great staff. We booked a studio suite with study and were surprised at the size of the studio. Fully equipped kitchen, great appliances including washer and dryer. Quality linen. Would not hesitate to recommend AKA Time Square.

Luxury, peace and comfort right by Times Square

We went for a 2 bedroom apartment as it was a special occasion, and were not disappointed. Generous lounge area with fully equipped kitchen, washer and drier, bathrobes, coffee machine - all the trimmings. The staff could not have been more helpful and friendly. Great penthouse lounge with free coffee every morning and views of Times Square lights.

overall very good, with the exception that it was a little dark at the lobby and the room we were at has some leftover fishy smell.. probably from the last guest.

The AKA Times Square has an amazing location, but the bathroom was tiny and only one lift was working.

OK but not great

Good hotel for business trips as self-contained apartments are well equipped and spacious. However, lacks facilities for leisure traveler and was not cleaned very thoroughly.

Perfect place for what we wanted

First thing first...we went to New York to see places, do things. That means that we didn't care much if the hotel had amenities like a gym or a dinner room. There weren't much but there end all the hotel 'problems'(which are not even problems if you know what you want) The room was magnificent to the point that I asked the reception 3 times if the charge I've seen was for the whole week because I thought with such a great room it could be a daily rate. Living room, full furnished, great bedroom, study room, washing and drying machine, modern furniture, 2 LCD tvs(one in living room, the other in bedroom). The bathroom was ok, a little small but you're in NY so... In the heart of Manhattan, 1' walk from Times Square, very close to two different subway stations, close to Bryant Park. The hotel is placed in such a convinient spot that we had no problem in numerous occasions to go out for shopping or sightseeing, come back for a rest, then go out again. All the good theaters, restaurants, main roads, trasnportation spots are very close and NY Subway is awsome9seriously, it is dirty and old but with so many lines you can get anywhere)

I recommend this place as a great alternative to a typical hotel room. It was quite nice and located conveniently close to broadway shows, subway stop, and restaurants.

Very nice service, but check somethings before you ok to the room

The hotel is very nice. I think it was an apartment before and they re-modeled it. The suite that I stayed was a studio with a den. It was very nice and well-furnished except one thing. No matter what they do with the re-modeling, there is a certain limit with plumbing... The suite that I stayed had a clogged bathtub drain. It was pretty bad. The drain almost didn't work at all and some black particles refluxed into the bathtub while I was taking a shower. I was pretty nasty experience. I complained about this, and they opened up another suite to use the bathtub in the morning, but I had to carry all my belongings between 8th floor and 11th floor... So, if you decide to stay in this hotel, please check if the drain is working in your bathtub and unpack you luggage. Except that, the service and everything was very, very nice!
