Bug land
Bugs galore, bugs ran rampant on the coffee counter. Windows without sash, mosquitoes galore. Windows did not fully close, I had to stuff tissue papers to close the gaps. Very old property, not recommend
Paradise! Everywhere you turn this resort is just the most tranquil and beautiful place you’ll likely ever stay! Everyone is wonderful and each beach bungalow is private with water views and direct access. All have bikes, SUP and kayaks! The lagoon was perfect too! Dinners awesome and breakfast great too! Absolutely loved this place!
Really close to all 5 stars. The only reason it’s not 5 stars all the way around is bc we have stayed at similar 5 star island resorts that were in slightly better condition. Having said that, I highly recommend this place for a tranquil, unique (in a good way), and true island experience. There are few places with this small of a population and community that you can visit and still be welcomed by the locals. We will be back to visit the other Cook Islands for sure.
Simple, friendly, beautiful gardens and the water is this incredible color, perfect temperature. The staff is wonderful in every way, there when you need them, lovely people, we are happy here!
Absolutely stunning place and people, couldn’t fault it and I can’t wait to go back
Stunning location
This is a truly stunning location, the staff were most welcoming and the accommodation was very comfortable, but pricey. I enjoyed snorkeling in the channel especially around the sunken small fishing boat. There are some live coral outcrops, an abundance of fish varieties and endless long, giant sea cucumbers
Thank u for providing a very peaceful, quiet and relaxing vacation. The service was exceptional.
Gorgeous resort and great location. Staff were extremely friendly and went above and beyond during our stay. The rooms are comfortable and have everything you could need. The bikes, kayaks and paddleboards were awesome additions and perfect for use right off the beach. Food was good with a nice selection of options for different tastes. Would definitely stay here again!
The best staff and experience ever! It was like being on Fantasy Island but this was the real deal. The staff’s hospitality was exceedingly good, the food was excellent, the lodging was top ranked, and the overall quality of this resort was unmatched. I will definitely be returning to this gem in the future!
Amazing! Pati, Luke and Mere were the best! We only spent one night there and thats our biggest regret, but the team made sure we were welcomed and looked after. Coconuts and lei necklaces on arrival. Accomodation was only a few steps from the lagoon and there are so much to do at the resort alone! Will definitely be back!
This property is to die for. The location is one of the best in the world as the true beauty of Aitutaki is everywhere you look with the turquoise blue waters and white sand beaches and sand bars. The beef tenderloin and prawns were excellent along with the wine. The bed was super comfortable. Loved the premium beachfront bungalow with the most beautuful views of the lagoon. Wifi was excellent and the staff were so happy friendly and efficient. They do their best and also feel like we are all family. I will definitely be back again for sure. I love that it is adults only, too.
Paradise found
My stay was awesome Great staff on a great little island
The staff was amazing from greeting us at the airport to dropping us off at the airport. Non stop serbice
The staff and facilities at this resort are above exceptional. The staff did an excellent job (particularly Luke, Jerry, Illy, Ramana, Rawi, Nere and George). They were all kind, friendly and always greeted you with a smile. Facilities and approximity to airport and other restaurants/cafes were also well received. The resort is not the cheapest on Aututaki but its worth every single dollar if you are looking for a quite adults only location. Negative Comments: None
There is nothing not to like about this resort. Staff know you by name on the first day. The resort location is spectacular. I’ve been to many tropical island and Mediterranean island locations andnothing beats this. The colour blue is redefined here.
Kia Orana! If you're going to Atiutaki you MUST stay here! The staff becomes family oas soon as you meet. Rooms are beautiful and comes with 2 bikes, kayaks and paddle boards! The surrounding water is spectacular and simply from a dream! The outside shower just enhances the Cook Islands experience. Words cannot justify the experience this beautiful hotel offers. Walk around the entire hotel grounds because the grounds are beautiful. If you decide to go onto the main island of Atiutaki (since you have to take quick 2 minute fairy ride from hotel) please, please, please rent a scooter or a car. We did it on bikes and we were exhausted and got sunburn.
Quiet place to relax. Snorkel gears, paddle boards, kayaks are close by. Calm and clear water in the lagoon to swim. Bicycles are available to explore the vaccinity.
The place is tired and is quite dated although it seems a Reno is underway. The overwater bungalows were lovely in terms of where they were and the views but really need some basic tlc. Staff were generally very good. The location is amazing. Local cafe and restaurants great. Little things - like providing somewhere to dry clothes ( line or rack) would have been great. One of our bikes only had one brake working which while not a significant issue, when we are paying close to $1500 a night we sort of expected a bit better. Food was generally good. After 6 days breakfast became a bit boring though…
We loved our stay at Aitutaki lagoon private island resort and felt so at home. Everyone was so friendly and our room was so clean. The accommodations were above and beyond and we will definitely be back!
Beautiful property upon arrival we were shown a room that was not what we expected we sent multiple emails confirming the room that we wanted with the view The room that we were shown was completely substandard and looking at the backwater of the lagoon in order to get the room t we wanted the charged us an additional $1,700 using their Wi-Fi from their lobby I could have booked the whole trip for the $1,700 so they charged us the additional $1,700 plus the $2,500 that we paid we had the most expensive stay on the island then anybody else at the resortiresortaroomndas substandard to what
What I really like is that every room comes with its own complementary bikes, kayak, and stand up surf boards for your pleasure. The Staff was the Best. Very helpful and friendly.
What was unique was you get to stay on a private island which has all the amenities you need. Great service and great people.
The staff were all wonderful and welcoming. Mere in f&b was lovely, always smiling and friendly. Jerry and Wise were also incredible and never forgot our names.
You have everything what you need on the island, very good food, beautiful water, nice views, kayaking and peddle boarding, bicycles if you want to go on the island and around the big island to explore, nice stuff especially Patty from the front office which goes out her way to make you feel awesome and Jerry from the Restaurant department who is very pleasant with you.
Island Hoppers
Aitutaki Lagoon Resort was an unbelievable experience. Living on Hawaii most people questioned why we would travel to another beautiful and remote destination. Our stay here was purely relaxing. We also found it to be truly more breathtaking than Hawaii. The staff could not be more accommodating and welcoming. The bungalow was IMMACULATE! We had everything we needed on the lagoon but did venture over to the island to experience the true culture of the island. A MUST STAY if you are traveling to Aitutaki.
The facility was superb. The overwater bungalow was outstanding. The staff were incredible and helpful
Staff are all friendly and welcoming. Great for those wanting a quiet space to relax in a chair or hammock, or snorkel, swim or kayak. Then there is a range of optional activities
Island paradise! Everything you hope an island get away would be. Picture postcard perfect
The place is so beautiful gorgeous view beach lagoon just loved it all
Super cool
Great visit! Highly recommend
Just got back from a wonderful 6 night stay!! We just loved it all. Just great to get away from it all. The staff is wonderful. Always smiling and helpful! We are already planning a return trip!! We stayed in an over ware bungalow and a premium beach front. Honestly I think we liked the premium beachfront better. I also don’t think there is a bad bungalow on the property. A nice massage with Mere. Beautiful views everywhere you are!
Really is heaven on earth. Most stunning place l have been too. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming. My partner and l had the most relaxing and enjoyable holiday. Resort staff are such beautiful people and nothing is ever a bother. Hopefully l am lucky enough to be able to go back one day.
The view of the lagoon so wonderful. I love it so much. It was really long flight but we would like to come back again.
The view was stunning but our bedsheet had not been changed for 4 days. WiFi is not for free.
Fantastic stay
Beat our expectations. Facilities are in good condition most bungalows have awesome lagoon views. What really made the difference is the staff- everyone was very friendly and went out of their way to make our stay perfect. Special shout to Jerry! Loved that they do a lot of programs throughout the day and every night. Loved the fire performance and dance as well. Also the food at dinner and lunch was delicious. Breakfast was more simple but also great. Expedia / hotels.com silver / gold members get great benefits as well.
The view of the property is amazing
Beautiful location, great amenities. However the service at the restaurant/bar was horrible. At times, we were the only couple in the area, yet we had to wait long times, even had to go up to the bar to get a drink or order food. Seemed like staff were not interested in serving, yet only one or two couples present. Also it was my wife's 60th bday dinner, and the meal was ruined, could not eat, yet was still expected to pay for it.
Nice place on a private island. Super nice beaches and great staff.
We Loved this Resort! The Location Can NOT BE BEAT!!
Looks Wonderful
Looks Wonderful Soo Far with a Friendly Staff.. The water is not good to drink but they are working on it… giving completely to drink which is good.. internet service you would think would be part of the day rate with the Villa but o well.. it’s not a breaker.
Emily from the front desk and Wise ( waiter ) by far exceeded my expectations . Always lending a hand with great smiles . Can do improvements in the choices of your Continental breakfast and meal menus . Otherwise , we had a lovely time in your resort and your location is the best of all the resorts
Place was amazing can't recommend it enough, service 👍great snorkelling under the Overwater villas, absolutely stunning views, each unit has bikes out the front water shoes, snorkels in room, nothing is a problem
Beautiful
Just returned from one of our favorite places in the world, Aitutaki! This was our second time staying at ALR, and it was amazing yet again! The staff at ALR are fantastic and so helpful! A big shoutout to Tish, Sarah, Rena, Wise, Mere, (to name just a few) were all so great to us and helped us with every need during our stay! The resort is very well maintained and the views from the rooms are stunning! Great food, drinks, and lots of activities. Thank you all so much for a great stay and we will definitely be back!!
Amazing Resort
This resort is in a perfect spot on the Aitutaki lagoon. It's truly as lovely as it looks in the photos. The facilities are limited but OK. The food was excellent for such a remote location. Correction: The food was excellent fullstop, and varied enough for a week of memorable meals. But: maintenance is an issue, and some of the problems clearly predate Covid. It's just not right to have flyscreens falling to bits and 20 year old, defective aluminium ranchsliders in an overwater bungalow costing a Grand a night. Who are you competing with? A motel in Invercargill NZ, or rural Manitoba? And then there is construction which isn't just ugly, it makes access to the iconic sandspit difficult. Most of the rubbish and discarded building materials could be cleaned up in an afternoon- so why was it all unchanged after a week? I'd very much like to come back... after these issues are fixed.
Incredible property and staff to go with it. Stayed in a bungalow over the water… simply magical. Can’t wait to come back.
Thank you for the great holiday in paradise
