Gorgeous property with excellent views and great service. Very quiet

The property was beautiful, we had an amazing stay with beautiful views.

Great views, nice room, snorkelling spots easy to get to. Got upgraded to a room with a mezannine. Drinks are pricey almost €20, local supermarket super expensive too. But all in all really wonderful stay.

Very nice, clean and comfortable

Abaton is a stunningly beautiful hotel. The restaurants offer a great selection of food and drink with something for everyone. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The Buddha bar and the housekeeping staff were excellent. Our Thalasso sea view room was spacious and exceptionally clean, with housekeeping attending twice a day. The hotel, gardens and beaches are very well manicured and maintained. The hotel is on the outskirts of town so it’s a thirty minute walk into the main town or a taxi ride. We had a wonderful relaxing time and wouldn’t hesitate in going back again.

It was my first trip to Greece and I can’t fault it at all. The views were stunning no matter where you were on the resort. Whether it’s a chill out day, spa day or activities, it’s a one stop shop. Also, walking distance from the city so extremely convenient. All staff were incredibly helpful, you were always met with a smile, and no question was too much. Overall, a perfect stay and I’d definitely go back.

We visited this property for our 10 year anniversary. The staff were very friendly and helpful with recommendations for places to visit. The food was amazing. The beach is a little rocky and has a small access area. So not like some of the other beaches however the views are breathtaking. We would definitely stay here again!

If you want a 5 star top notch resort away from the bigger city tourist trap, don't think twice and book this hotel. You will not regret your decision. The food is excellent and on par or slightly lower than you would pay in Los Angeles or other large cities. There is a small town Stalis 1.6km or 1 mile away with great bars and restaurants all along the beach with little shops, and markets, which offer a nice change of scenery and break up the routine from the resort a bit to go grab a local greek dinner. The resort staff is very friendly grom check-in to the beach team to the restaurants. This area of Crete is best for folks wanting to relax and stay close to the resort in my opinion as the other main attractions in form of the famous southern island beaches are over 3.5 hours away and the next bigger city Chania is also about 2.5 hours away. For people wanting to go to those cities and places a hotel closer to those spots is better. However, the Abaton is modern and a rare find and in a class of its own and truly makes for a nice relaxing vacation with its own small sand beach, with plenty of sunchairs, the lively Buddah beach bar and huge pool that easily accommodates the people at the hotel with grrat music and the backdrop of ocean waves and wave sounds. Super happy with the hotel and worth every penny. Great and many different room size and layout choices. Book it !!!!

Beautiful hotel! We loved our stay at Abaton Island Resort. The half board food package was amazing too! Would highly recommend!

We had a two week stay May2024 and I have to say, we had a fantastic stay. We arrived just before the beginning of the season and it was pretty dead to be honest which was really nice to spend the first few days to relax. We mainly stayed by the pool most days and was very well looked after by Claudia who is a real asset to the team. She’s relentless in making sure you are well looked after. My main frustration is the rule around the use of the sun mattresses (yes that’s not a typo) around the pool being €150 a day. That’s ridiculous and there were only 1 or 2 being used, mainly after a certain time in the afternoon when things start to wind down. Personally, this is the one thing that needs to change as that’s a silly price. The food and booze is excellent although on the expensive side, you do get what you pay for so make sure if you don’t have all inclusive, you bring some cash. Everything else was brilliant, all of the team at the front desk and buffet breakfast should get a massive shout out. If we ever had an issue, it was sorted pretty much immediately. The hotel is situated 10 minute walk from the main town and you will find some brilliant local tavernas around there to complement your stay. Enjoy!!

Brilliant relaxing break

We stayed in an amazing room with private pool overlooking sea, room was great, service and food in all restaurants was fantastic, we enjoyed breakfast each day in the Crete restaurant overlooking the beach. We would love to go back for another holiday!

Very large property. Chic resort, with an “all inclusive” resort feel. Definitely not intimate, if you are looking for that feel. Nice beach inclusions along the property. The food was very average and higher price point. Our service and food at Buddha Bar, which has a lovely view, was not good and no awareness to the food not eaten. The room had an awkward layout, open concept, with the shower separate and right at the door. Our suite had ants all over the bar area and outdoors sitting space. The rooms are temperature controlled by the door being opened and closed - hard to regulate. Very warm and then too cold.

Good hotel but not worth it

It’s a nice enough resort and property. But very overpriced for what you get. I don’t see this Iine as a 5 star hotel. The linens and beds were great. The gym very nice. I found the rooms to be tacky for my taste. I would not stay here again especially for the price. I got a two story room. The service was great. The staff friendly and helpful. But when I think 5 star and this price I think four seasons and other type brands. And this is not there. Not even close.

Perfect place

Had an amazing stay for my honeymoon. Room was incredible I did not want to leave at all. as well the breakfast was so good I never wanted to miss it. Amazing time at Abaton I will be back for sure.

Good resort, dinner was a big disappointment.

The resort itself is good and breakfast is great. Dinner was the downside here. There are a couple of restaurants in the hotel, but they are just not that good, and also super expensive compared to the restaurants in the city center.

Excellent visit to the Abaton Hotel. Service second to none, nothing was ever too much trouble. hotel very clean. and the food was fine dining even round the pool. only criticism is that rooms with a hot tub have no view what so ever, all you get to look at is a painted wall. so please bear this in mind if you book one.

We had such an amazing stay at abaton island, the hotel is beautiful, the restaurants are incredible and the staff are incredibly helpful and friendly. If we have one tini tiny complaint it would be that the steak restaurant on site seems to restrict what you can buy, we went 3 times as really wanted a particular cut and on each time we went they said it was out of stock and the same cut of meet each time was the only one available , on the 3rd attempt we made it a little more clear of our disappointment as we booked the opening time reservation to make sure we could have it and it was the same story. Then the waitress went to the kitchen and said it was actually available. I’m not sure the reason for this maybe for stock control or something but it was a little frustrating , but we did end up finally being able to order and it didn’t disappoint. Just a shame we had to try 3times to get what we wanted … but other than that honestly can’t recommend this place enough.

Heaven!!! This hotel was pure luxury, the pool was beautiful, food amazing. A very romantic place.. not really for families and more for couples.. Would recommend, on the beach and resort not too big. Rooms are beautiful! Only negative would be about the reception staff, they gave us very confusing Information about where and when to get the tests, I also added someone to my booking and extended my stay over the phone however the reception staff didn’t have any record of these conversations and nothing had been actioned Xxx

The hotel is stunning and the spa treatments are amazing. The hotels cleaning service could be better, there was a lack of attention to detail. We only stayed for two nights, so the limited cuisines options didn't bother us. We enjoyed the breakfast buffer, but the coffee was not great. Overall we enjoyed our stay at the Abaton.

Amazing facilities, pool, rooms and views. Excellent atmosphere and environment. A true luxurious experience but still Need some improvement in the staff at the reception in order for them to behave as a 5 star hotel. No information provided on the area, things to do or nearby interesting spots. The restaurant staff go beyond to make the experience enjoyable and are very nice and friendly but look very tired as they have long journey of work.

Nice but a little boring - food was good, but not outstanding...

Beautiful hotel and rooms can’t fault anything about them, it’s a shame for such a lovely hotel it doesn’t have a beach. The service isn’t quiet to a 5* standard, Whilst the staff were very friendly the service at breakfast was very slow and everyday we had an issue with the wrong order being brought out or you would order a coffee and they would forget to bring it to you. We ordered food to our room one evening and it arrived with no cutlery or napkins and no glasses, we waited so long for the food to arrive which was cold by the time it got there that we didn’t bother to phone back to reception! We also used our coffee cups in our room one morning and the dirty tray and cups stayed there all week they never replaced any of it and for a 5* hotel things like this should be basic stuff.

Phenomenal hotel/resort, every detail is taken care of, the staff were all amazing restaurants are incredible, the poo, rooms and the gentleman’s bar, when the pianist is playing and the sun is going down outside is simply magical.

Newly build property with excellent decor ideas keeping with the Greek/ Cretan theme yet modern. Attractive, bright, warm and inviting. It has a relaxing atmosphere allowing you to feel serene. Situated on a beautiful cove where you can have moments of seeing the waves excitingly crashing against the rocks but mostly hearing the calm sea.

The Best Hotel I Have EVER Stayed In.

Our stay at Abaton was absolutely incredible! This was my second stay and it was just how I remembered: The hotel is just breath taking, all of the staff are so genuine and kind and no ask is ever too big. You are made to feel so special and will feel so relaxed after just one day at Abaton. We were upgraded - this hotel was a big expense to us and so the fact we got upgraded just blew us away. We were there for my boyfriend's birthday and I notified the hotel of this - a cake arrived to our table after our dinner and was then sent to our room for us to enjoy - such a lovely touch and put the biggest smile on my boyfriend's face. I honestly cannot fault this place. This was my 2nd trip and most definitely will not be the last - I think I shall be back again next year for an even longer stay. Back home now and struggling to get back to reality. We bought a diffuser of the scent of the hotel - sat in my living room imagining i'm still in Abaton!! Would 100% recommend.

Absolutely exquiste! Highly recommended if you like luxury.

Liked: service staff in all categories with genuine smiles and hard working, facilities, location in relation to the nature, cleanness, food. Disliked: the administration with superficially made smiles and try to gain financially as much as possible with claims that cannot be verified in any proven or logical way.

Too many staff visits during the day can make your privacy a bit disturbed and giving the feeling that you are followwd

Excellent resort, we'll be back!

Our stay honestly exceeded our expectations! The facilities are all new, clean, modern and gorgeous. The restaurants are all good as well, some better than others, but overall great food and service. The entire staff of the hotel is extremely nice and helpful, service overall is some of the best we've seen in a while! Really really recommend this hotel, which is also not so far from Heraklion airport which makes its location very convenient as well. You could stay the entire vacation only at the resort and relax, or take a half hour trip to the "city" as well. We will be back!

The architecture is unique & beautiful. The staff are neat and smily and notice your needs all the time. The breakfast is one of the best in resorts. The room is very clean.

The service at this resort was amazing. The staff treated me like I was a guest in their home. They wouldn't allow me to carry my own luggage. I had a long drive bc I booked my flight through the Chania airport....so after my unexpected 3 hour drive I just parker the car outside the resort gate, because I wasn’t really sure where to park and was just sick of the journey. The security guard told me to park inside once I passed him. I declined. He carried my bag to the lobby even though that is not his job. Then instead of checking in at the counter they took me and sat me down and asked for my documents and went and took care of it for me. Then a waitress showed up with some tasty drink on a tray for me. I felt very well taken care of. The spa is amazing. I had Mary. She was the sweetest. I did a 90 min deep tissue and she did a mini facial at the end. My skin was glowing. If I go back I will definitely do more services at the spa. The restaurants were very good, the service exceptional. The only downside was the Wi-Fi was a bit spotty, but I just hotspotted to my phone when needed and it was fine. Also who needs wifi when you have that amazing view and beach! That’s another thing that was great the pool and beach area were not crowded. You didn’t have to fight for a space which was very surprising to me. I don’t go back to a lot of places I visit, but I would consider returning to Crete to stay here. An exceptional value.

Abaton hotel is truly one of the best I have stayed in, from the look, the rooms, food, staff and overall atmosphere it is worth every dollar, fantastic resort and I loved our time there.

Went for a family holiday, beautiful hotel, great staff could not be more helpful. The hotel did have a lot of couples but that was not an issue for us. The ONLY suggestion I would make is that the beds by the pool. One needs to spend €100 to use them, which is very easy to do with a family of five. My son went to lay on them and was asked to move to the ones behind due to the amount you have to spend. We did spend that amount and more, he was just embarrassed and moved. During the week I watched how the lady controlling the beds would wait for people to get comfy and settled and then go over and ask them to move. WHY embarrass the guests either put up a sign, reserve the beds or tell the guests before they use them. That is my only fault otherwise very happy .

Best hotel I have stayed in

Fantastic!

I hardly ever review however, Abaton Island is due the recognition it deserves. This is 5* affordable luxury at it's finest. From being greeted by your personal Guest relations Officer, personally shown to your room, tour of the resort and amenities to the going the extra mile e.g. locating an iphone charger (as mine had a fault) just puts my resort experience with Abaton to 5*. The staff made me feel like I was the only person in the resort ensuring my comfort was paramount. Being able to see the sea, smell the sea and be in the sea within 1 minute was as breathtaking as the vista. The to lounge on a queen sized bed in a room that's cleaned twice daily with a night time duvet turn down and pillow chocolate service made my slumber even more relaxing. A place I have recommended and will return too. PS. the Spa and massage was second to none.

Outstanding Luxury

This hotel just permeates luxury everywhere throughout the rooms and grounds. On arrival we were promptly checked in and escorted to our rooms, whilst on the way gazing with wonder at the amazing interior design, modern décor and stunning scenic views. We stayed in a luxury room with pool access and it was absolutely fabulous. A wonderfully large bed with excellent bedding and a huge bath for two. The shower and pool were amazing, with the view from our balcony directly facing the beach. Breakfast was delicious, with so many different options of food to eat, with table service being provided as well as the buffet style. All the staff from receptionist, to barman to cleaner are always smiling and attentive to any request or detail. Food in the C’est La Vie Beach Club was excellent. We also utilised the gym and spa during our stay and would recommend both facilities, although the indoor pool was not warm, as we were advised. The beach area is idyllic, but to be honest everything in this hotel is. We are already looking forward to coming back next year and are counting down the days.

Abaton is a five star location working very hard to be 6 star. It's expensive, but I thought full value for the money. Service was without exception outstanding. Our room was exactly what I hoped for, the food was great. This was an exceptional stay. If I have one complaint, it is what I saw as some minor nickel and timing. The dinner buffet was 50Euro per person. That's a lot of money, but it was one of the best buffets I've experienced, so no big deal. But to then hit me up for 3 E for water at that same buffet? That's weak. And in my room, 6 E to make a cup of coffee? C'mon guys, that's really bad. Other than that. however, I would highly recommend the place. Good: service, quality of food, quality of room, views, breakfast on the patio. Bad: charging for water, coffee Overall: Loved it.

Disappointing

Lovely hotel and very comfortable room, although no point in having bath in main room; wasn't used. Would personally prefer a mirror above dressing table rather than a huge TV. Beach very disappointing, a couple of nice coves but impossible to access as I have bad knees (did email the hotel about this prior to booking and was assured no problem) Also many steps and steep slopes on site. Staff need much more training to bring to 5* level, mainly breakfast staff - the waiters/waitresses were very busy, maitre d' not at all helpful and was rude when reminded the coffee order he had taken had not materialised after 30+ minutes waiting Very expensive food and drinks throughout the hotel Noise from resort across the bay was very disturbing some nights and the patio doors are not very good at keeping out noise.

Gorgeous New Boutique-Style Resort

I can't rate this resort highly enough! My partner and I stayed at the hotel for a week in mid-September in the sea view deluxe loft room. I can honestly say that all of our expectations from the photos, advertising and reviews were met, and even exceeded! The resort (which opened in April 2018) is beautifully designed, decorated with a boutique and modern feel and sits in an ideal position along the rocky shoreline. The view from our room, the restaurants and the outdoor pool, all make the most of the dramatic and vast uninterrupted sea view. Every single member of staff that we interacted with during our stay was genuinely warm, happy and pleased to be of assistance to us. We were made to feel extremely comfortable and pampered throughout. The resort has five restaurants, all of which offered Vegetarian options. The breakfast was the most delicious, vast and fresh buffet I have ever enjoyed! The freshly squeezed Cretan orange juice, unlimited Prosecco, delicious pastries and fresh fruit, and the array of freshly cooked eggs, pancakes and meats on offer will be the subject of many of my future reveries! The gym was well equipped (open 24/7) and even free Yoga and Pilates classes were offered. The Elemis Spa offers all usual Elemis treatments and you can enjoy complimentary Elemis products in your room too. If you are looking for a relaxing, pampering and peaceful getaway, in gorgeous surroundings with friendly staff, I can defo recommend! I just hope I can visit again!

368/5000 The hotel is amazingly well designed, everything is new and maintained to a high standard,The atmosphere in the evening is really pleasant and it is really fun to walk around the hotel grounds. The pools are lit at night and it is very romantic. Breakfast is good and the service is of a high standard.(giorgos The waiter was one of the best service providers I have ever met ) We rented a car and had free parking in the hotel grounds which is very convenient The room is also very cozy and pampering, we were disappointed by the view from the room, we rented a room with a shared pool and the view from the pool was to the corridor and the doors of the building opposite us. The central pool has sitting areas on the water and it is very sad that sitting there is contingent upon ordering drinks and food for 100 Euros (because of this the seating areas were always empty)

Great addition to Hersonissos Peninsula

Great hotel and location. If the service improves it will be great. Great choice of pools. Charging for Nespresso coffee in the room €4 is outrageous when the price of of the is €350 per night.

Extremely new construction, responsive staff, incredible location with great sight lines. The place itself is like a piece of art. The cooking in the restaurants is first rate. Only drawback is it can get pricey.

Great design: everything around you is really perfect. Very kind staff, especially in restaurants. We v got a very pleasant stay. The beach swimming area was not so big, but as for me it is enough.

Amazing hotel/beach/pool/food - more for adults

This has been the best hotel we have stayed at. Def a couples place, not kids, which is what we were looking for. Food was amazing (all way way from breakfast to lunch to dinner), staff super accommodating and helpful and friendly. Beach and pool always had free spots (you don’t have to wake at ungodly hours to reserve your spot at the beach). Sea view facing room was spectacular. Views of the entire hotel communal areas were breathtaking and I think if paradise existed on earth this would be it. I would complain about nothing but if I really had to pick something it would be the rooms are not completely sound proof so you could hear some neighbours talking/opening closing doors etc. But nothing too bad we could still get to sleep fine and no noise woke us once we were asleep. The concierge could step it up a gear and help guests experience more out of the beautiful island. They did recommend some lovely trips but think theres more to do and recommend to get more out of the beautiful island.

Beautiful property perfect for quiet getaway

Beautiful hotel, immaculate rooms. Highly recommend getting sea view rooms as the other hotel rooms (even with private pool) have an obstructed view. Saltwater pool was beautiful, but was overcrowded at times (we went to the private beaches and even the neighboring public beach to take a dip in the sea!). Service was hit or miss -- great at times, but horrible on other occasions. Breakfast buffet was pretty subpar for a luxury hotel, tasted fine but lacked selection (especially on the hot foods).

No beach, private pools are not private

The private pool we booked was dirty on arrival there was even a layer of salt on the bottom which had obviously built up over several weeks. The pool is overlooked by all surrounding rooms and walkways around the hotel. Air conditioning stopped working resulting in a 2 poor nights sleep. The communal pool was small compared to the size of the hotel and sun beds got taken very early in the morning. The restaurants for meals at night were expensive, you could walk 15 minutes down the road to the local town and get just as good food but for a quarter of the price, which explains why the hotel looked empty at night. There is no beach at the hotel. There is a small bit of sand leading to rocks ten into the sea. Overpriced for the facilities and quality.

Didn't live up to expectations

Hotel is lovely. Very stylishly done indeed. Room was very comfortable, private pool was the biggest i have had. Piano player was excellent...would have liked more of him. Spa was really good. Nice treatment and products. However too many little niggles to make it truly 5 star. The service is slow and the hotel was probably only half full when we were there so I am not sure how it will cope when at capacity. I would question why is is not adults only as there are some aspects which make it unsafe for kids. For example the steps leading to the private pool area have no hand rail and it becomes extremely slippery. The dj around the pool is atrocious...cannot mix at all and weird choice of music. The food is ok. 50 euro to eat at the buffet restaurant is way overpriced. We ate in the a la carte restaurants every night and was same price. Breakfast was quite disappointing as meats, cheese, fish seemed quite low quality. I was expecting a quiet and tranquil break but it was far noiser at night than expecting. The entertainment right over the other side of the complex felt like it was right outside. I really wanted to love this hotel but just fell short so I wouldn't return.

Great hotel

We stayed in a delux loft room With private pool The room is amazing with lovely white decor, a huge and super comfy bed and an amazing power shower in the bathroom with elemis toiletries. The room had a large terrace with day beds for sunbathing. The breakfast was great with lots of options however we found some of the waiters lacking knowlede and waiting around for over 20 mins to be served food was not great. Overall the hotel had a fab pool but lacked sun beds so each morning most sunbeds were reserved by other Guests at the crack of dawn. As its a new hotel there were some teething issues but overall i would def recommend this hotel as it was a perfect place for a getaway

High expectations shattered.

Upon being greeted at the door by the hotel to the final farewell of the property, each moment at the resort was beyond expectations. The decor, the the little details on the bathroom faucet handles was exquisite. Complimentary breakfast buffet was delicious. The complimentary yoga instructor was very relaxing. We arrived when the weather was windy and cold, so swimming in the pools or private pools was cold, but not the resort's fault. The slight negatives is getting to the property, especially when unfamiliar with driving in Greece, was a bit difficult. Google maps directs you to do a tight turn U-Turn that is not necessary. Getting to town is about a 15 minute walk and can mostly be done alongside the beach. But why would you want to leave? I was on the ground floor and you can hear steps to the folks above us.
